Sadie, I'm so happy your DS-18 is recuperating well and getting better and stronger everyday. Also, congratulations to your DS-23's job promotion, too.

Dee, I was in a fast hurry this a.m., but I quickly read something about your worn out old fleece nightgown, which has seen better days?

Right? I just wanted to let you know that I got a long-sleeved ankle-length fleece nightgown out here, at J. C. Penney's.

I don't know if you have Penney's stores there OR if they'd sell them on-line at their site. But it'd be worth a try, since it's obvious how much you ♥ your fleece nightgown.

I got my old Jones of New York tortoise shell horn-rimmed frames refilled with a new lenses prescription. They called to say they were ready, I can now see 20/20 and I'm so happy to be back into darker frames, which make me look smarter. I'm NOT saying I'm "smarter"! I just "LOOK" that way!

DH is so sweet. He's cleaning toilets right now. I'll do mirrors, counters, and dump trash. He just pitches in, often times when I've got something writing on MY to do list. He never reads my lists, but it's like he REALLY DOES. I know it's just from being married for 44 years, like spouses sort of sense or read each others' minds.

He's such a sweetheart.

helia, quite right just order another, no big deal. Helpful that a passport served the purpose so you were not delayed. So this means she is driving alone? Wow. We will have another year before that. After dd drives with the parents only for 6 months, she may then drive with any 5-year's-experience driver for another 6, and then take the test.

Twins', see you are already telling me something I didn't know - that the decals even existed! What a better idea that hanging icky strips.

About dd's hand - yes, it was just a scratch as he raced away to hide after the dog-moment. It's only the location (crux of two fingers) that made it problematic. Tonight she even said it looked better and maybe the appt was unnecessary. But that's okay if it's not. And we'll be sure to get the dr's slip back to the right person at school, considering the mess we had last year.

In a strange way, I think Tobias has been apologetic or at least very sobered today. He has been much more clingy. And much less vocal in nagging at mealtime. More of a "mew" than the usual conversational meowing.

Dbil was interested in the tale. He said in the question of whether a cat or a dog is the quick-draw in a showdown, it's often the cat. Threatened or cornered, they put everything into one power-swat, make or break, because if they lose they know they may lose big. And yes, that is about what happened. Poor dog went over backward, which was a shock to me. I think that was more the agility of the dog in-air, rather than the actual blow. The dog's intention was probably just to play and thought Tobias was a soft version of a small dog. Sigh.

Smiling because I know Elizabeth meant to say that needlework is DE stressing. Elizabeth, I hope the discomfort is over soon.

Music - dd surprised me by knowing the words to Gloria Gaynor's 70s version of "I Will Survive" today.

Oh, Elizabeth!

I've gotten shots in my ankles and heels before, but never every in a million years realized that sometimes people get thumbs shot, too.

Bless your heart! ♥ We just don't realize how precious and useful our thumbs are, daily, until we get them sore and they're acting up.

I also, didn't realize there was computer game scrabble. I'm not very "good" at computer games, so keep playing the same Mahjong 3-D game over and over- when I remember to play. I've tried children's games on-line, but I must be at the 6-month age level because I can't seem to get the "hang" out of when to jump, etc... like my Dgs's do.

I DID remember today, was your interview, Elizabeth and wondered today how it went. How many months has it been without a job for you now?

Dsis had a dry spell, after a state-move from the NW to SW. She landed a job as a manager of a storage rental place, which also rents out U-Haul trucks. It's a 3-story building and now they do auctions of storage units where people haven't paid nor come in anymore to look at their belongings stored. I believe Dsis called it "Storage Wars," on-line and on TV. She's getting a lot of experience in different jobs there, too. So I'm proud how she treated looking for new employment like it was a job-outside-the-home. She'd get dressed up, leave in the morning, filled in applications all day, came home for lunch and then went out again. They have no children, except adult kids from his 1st marriage, out-of-state and she has a step-DD out-of-state, too. So there aren't kids/grandkids to work around, which is why she was able to dedicate full-time to job searching. That really makes a difference, I think, for more spare time, when you have no local kids or grands to enjoy and do things for and with, too.

Poor Tobias.

He must feel badly about it, from what you reported. Poor little thing. They sure can "sense" when something's not the norm, can't they? They're like humans in that regard, but they're little fur balls, too.

Sometimes, when I'm in a hurry, my cat wants my attention, to slow down, and hold her, etc... but I tell her no, not right then, and she seems to give me a look with her beautiful light green eyes that say she's gotten her feelings hurt.

I feel awful then, of course, and then drop everything, once I've done what I was in an all hurried rush to do, and give her quality time and loving.

Dee, The reason I enjoy my fleece nightgown so much is how I can put my knees, while in bed sleeping, up into my fleece nightgown and keep warmer. I also have fleece pajamas, which occasionally I use the bottoms for lounging with a turtleneck or sweatshirt on top. But the best reason (to me) of all, as to why I love my fleece nightgown, is how it's stretchy, unlike flannel.

It stretches with me in bed, as I turn, unlike flannel, which seems to "catch" and stop, when I want to turn over.

There are 2 websites, where I've seen fleece nightshirts, but I'm uncertain if they have fleece ankle-length nightgowns. The sites are:

Then, occasionally, The Country Store, which is from the Reminiscence. Country, Country Woman, etc... magazine people, have fleece nightgowns. They're more expensive though. The Vermont Store has very high quality clothes for women, too. It's pricey, but their things last wash after wash and year after year. I've gotten Muumuus from them. But now, the Muumuus are "cold" on, so I'm starting to wear regular clothes or nightgowns under the Muumuu. I have some lightweight lounge pants from Costco, which are getting "cold" to wear now, too, as our weather's changing here. DH suggested how I could wear long john bottoms under them, since the lounge pants are so cute.

I have leg warmers, to wear under long dresses, pants, bottoms, too.

Helia, I'm so glad your DD-16 got her temporary driver's license today.

First, they showed the dust storm or Haboob and then, a day later, everything that had the Haboob, is under water from flooding.

Wow!

Ever since "Psycho," I've always not wanted to shower when there is nobody here. I think that taking a shower, alone in a house, means that the phone could ring, somebody could ring the doorbell and I'd not hear it. Also, I think what if an intruder came in.

It's silly, I know, but I feel more comfortable if DH is here when I shower. Today, I showered and DH was outdoors on his riding mower during my shower. I know this is like "cheating" because DH was driving around the house mowing, but I STILL feel proud that I did NOT "need" him indoors, to take my shower.

I'll try to take a s2s while DH is gone sometime. It's a quick in and out shower, we have a message machine and if somebody comes to the door, oh well.

We have a security system, so WHAT am I "worried" about?

Hello to everyone!!! This has been a very busy day, w/dgs here almost all day, and ds for much of the day, and when they left, I just collapsed and slept ALL THE WAY through the first 8 innings of the Braves game. (Of course, the Braves slept through all 9 innings, I guess.)

Anyway --
I did want to say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mr. Sunny, and to Mystery,

and send some (((HUGS))) to Harriet's dd! Ouch!

DS sang at a funeral this morning, so he brought dgs over, b/c ddil is still sick and had taken sleeping meds b/c she thought she just HAD TO work tonight. After the funeral, ds ran, then walked w/me, and then I finally got my s2s and went to town -- oil change/rotate tires on SUV, post office, supper. All this w/dgs in tow, b/c ds was giving lessons.

I did talk to my dmom after I finally woke up, and she sounded okay. The adjustable bed has been delivered to her house. I was confused about that. She wants it at her house for the time being, and will move other bedroom set to dgmother's house.

Computer games... I play Solitaire and Suduko all the time on my phone. That is all the games I have gotten involved in.

Congrats to helia's dd! (((Helia))) I wonder where my birth certificate is...

I had never heard of decals to poison flies, either! Wow.

Wonder if they would work on ants? We have a big problem with ants in the SUV, just in the last couple days. I sprayed heavily last night, but they were still there today. Sprayed again today. Plan to get the car washed and vacuumed well on Wednesday when I go to the doctor. There's a good place in that town.

(((FF))) I share your shower phobia! I am able to shower when I'm alone, but I don't like it. Also, I have only clear shower curtains.

I am also thinking tortoise shell frames if/when I ever get my eyes checked.

I must do some needlework. DH asked me to sew a button on his pants 4 days ago. * sigh *

Oh -- and re: the church mentoring thing, I emailed the person in charge again, asked for some guidelines about how much to spend over the course of the year, and got nothing. Basically -- "Monetary gifts are not important. I have found they enjoy homemade goodies more than anything, something you can give them when they come to church and they can take back to school with them. My boys still talk about a lady who gave them a quart of homemade chilli."
Well, * sheesh * that's all well and good, but if these girls even come to our church anymore, they are coming to the contemporary service and I will never see them. * sheesh *
AS IF I were making homemade chilli anyway.

I will discuss this with the lady who is mentoring the sister when she gets back home. She is vacationing at the moment, so I bet she hasn't even read the emails.

OH and another * big sheesh * -- local newspaper called today and wants me to send them a picture for the Homecoming grand marshal story. I despise all my pictures. Wish I could send them the one from 1998 when we had family portraits made for church. I was probably 40-50 pounds lighter then, and my hair looked great in that picture. Recently, not so much. * sigh *

Dd's plane is delayed by snow so gets in at 2:11. Am in bed now trying to sleep but not succeeding.

Does anyone know how RamblingRose is doing?

I think she lives in Arizona, so I'm uncertain if she's affected by the Haboob and floods in the Phoenix area.

The weather there is terrible. I wonder if this is a "small taste" of what our Winter has in store for the U. S. over the next several months.

I'm writing Dsis/Dbil a thank you card for their wedding anniversary card to us, which we got today.

I got my tomorrow's to do list written, clothes out, and the dawn simulator set.

Yes, Kathryn, with snow getting closer to you, soon you'll need a good warm coat.

I have 1 black wool lined double-vested coat with a hood, which DD bought at Goodwill for $10.

It's a perfect fit and it's in perfect condition, too. For when it's very cold here, I've got a thick down jacket by London Fog, from the Factory Outlet Stores. I have numerous hats, caps, mittens, gloves and a Capuche. A Capuche is a hood/face masque/hat/nose cover in 1. You can wear it down, like a cowl, have it over your nose and head, or fix it so only your eyes peer through. Mine's designed and made by Capuchin Monks in the mountains there. It has a toggle button with cord to cinch it closed or adjust it. I rarely need to use it, naturally, but it's nice to have, just in case. I also have Pole Trekking Poles, which have tips for snow, too, if I want to walk in snow. I need to buy some snow boots with tread so I CAN walk in the snow.

I think I'll get out my TA-DAH TUESDAY office display card tonight, for tomorrow!

Hi again. It is almost midnight, and I have indeed done nothing but play computer Scrabble. The good news is that I can now feel my thumbs. I hear William yowling in the bathroom and he is probably hungry. I will do cat care then go to bed.

Ds's flight was further delayed. But the internet went down here when I was up at midnight so I thought it was coming at 2:11. We got up at 1:25. Dh also couldn't update the screen so we rebooted the router and discovered it isn't arriving until 3:05. I'm too awake to go back to bed so am doing quiet tidying. Dh has gone back to bed.

Tomorrow (today) will be a long day - I have a meeting tonight.
