@#$%!!! @#$%!!! @#$%!!!
I just spent about 2 hours on a job application. I was down to the sign and certify, and had done so and clicked 'continue', when their computer hung. Not only did it lose my application, but it does not even recognize my login anymore!!! I have emailed their tech support, but don't have much hope.

I took a break and played one and only one game of computer scrabble. I have not finished catching up on my emails, nor have I done anything else except print some information for my interview on Wednesday. This STINKS so bad. ARGH!!!

Back to email catch up. Just had to vent to someone. Thanks.

Kathryn, that's certainly a good sign! I'm glad he had fun today.

Elizabeth, yes, vent away! Do you have a southern accent? (Are you originally from Louisiana?) You should check out the online video "Things Southern Girls Say."

On to clean up. Cookie dough is chilling and will have to get baked tomorrow.

My first check-in today, so I haven’t really thought about music so far… but I have had certain songs on my mind all day – Over the Next Hill We’ll Be Home, by Brooks & Dunn… and two George Hamilton songs, Life is Like a Mountain Railway and We Will Meet Again. (Other people have certainly recorded those first two, but these are the versions playing in my head. You can find them on YouTube, I’m sure, if you’re interested.)

BIG WTG to MT’s DD!!! I am so happy for her!!! I bet she was thrilled to receive those flowers. That was such a sweet thing to do for her first day! I hope she has a wonderful year.
(((Mr. MT)))

What a neat thing for your ds to be doing, Kathryn. Staying busy like that will be the best thing for him right now.

Good to see helia! I know YOU are staying busy these days.

(((Mr. Twins))) Unfortunately, I have some experience w/speeding tickets, also.

Harmony, I get sorta sidetracked into doing more than the middles, also, when I’m vacuuming. Especially when I first start. The first room usually gets a very close vacuuming, and then I’m tired of it so it’s easier to hit the middles of the rest of the house. That’s why Peg Bracken advised to always start in a different room. (Which is actually a lot like our zones, actually.) Peg Bracken said if you always start in the same room, eventually you’ll have to saw the back bedroom off the house. LOL… I absolutely LOVE Peg Bracken. If you haven’t read her books, stop now and search amazon. Some of her advice is kinda dated by now, but I still love her. (She passed away a few years ago.)
I may have always had the mindset that if I can't be perfect, then I will blithely sidetrack off somewhere after the day's focus is done. Ahem ... sometimes before the day's focus is done, but let's not discuss that.

:D Harriet

Elizabeth… re: the X… … You are doing sooo amazingly well at taking the high road in all this. (((BIG HUGS))) re: the computer snafu…

LOVE that video (I think there are 3 or 4?) of Things Southern Girls Say, Twins. LOL!!!

LadyM… you’ve got enough to have yourself on edge anyway, without the bandage issue. It WILL come off eventually. Just try to keep it all clean and try not to worry. OH MY!!! Just saw the latest development… * whew *

Waving to RRNancyDeeFF... and anyone else I'm missing. :oops:

I actually feel somewhat accomplished today. :shock: * SHOCK * :shock:
Today’s PODA:
-- retired teachers’ luncheon
-- got my eye exam and ordered new glasses
-- reconciled bank statement
-- called for refill of allergy meds
-- talked to dmom
-- played outside w/dgs, who will be here until bedtime, as ds/ddil are going out to eat before she goes in to work tonight.

The eye exam was kinda a big ugh – not the exam itself, b/c the doctor was very nice and it was easier to decide ‘which is best/this/that/A/B’ – which is generally frustrating to me. BUT… Oh. My. Goodness. This was at Wmart, and a pair of sunglasses and regular glasses, both single vision, sunglass frames were only $39… and STILL… I spent $393. Oh. My. Goodness.

~~~~~
Then I came home, started in on that bank statement, and another Oh. My. Goodness. Somehow I lost $1000. I feel really stupid admitting this to even y’all… I checked my math in the check book. I checked my outstanding checks and the math on them again. I CALLED THE BANK and the accounting lady goes through this will me and it sounds like she thinks I have over $1000 MORE. So now we’ve got a $2000 discrepancy, right? We go through everything she can account for that has come in since the statement date… we double-check automatic deposits. We get ourselves within $100 of agreement; she promises to send updated statement in the mail tomorrow. I hang up… dh is still shaking his head… I start going over the statement again. How can she think I have that much MORE, and I think I have that much LESS???
Okay…
Wait for it…
I know Twins and you other number-type people will love this…
The front page of the statement has printed, first thing, you know… CURRENT BALANCE.
The back of that page has the worksheet that guides you through the reconciliation steps.
The first thing on the back page, you have to write the CURRENT BALANCE in.
Yep. FINALLY… I saw that I had written down $1000 LESS on the back than the statement had on the front.
WHERE IS MY HEAD???
I called the bank back to admit my mistake and tell them they didn't have to send the second statement. * sheesh * HOW EMBARRASSING.
LucyLee - that sounds EXACTLY like something I would do. Glad you found the answer.
RE: potty training. Buy some Skittles. When DGS goes potty give him an INSTANT reward. Skittles are small, colorful and easy to give one or two at a time. I saw this done on "19 kids and counting" show. I assume after potty training 19 kids she has it figure out. LOL She also set a timer to remind her to take the child to the bathroom every hour.
LO has been on couch very still for about 4 hours and the bleeding is stopped. Hopefully for good. The nurse said to keep it tightly bandaged until tomorrow morning but my bandage attempt has already come off. It is NOT the easiest body part to bandage!!
DD has drove 415 miles in about 6 hours. Only 1610 more miles to go
LadyM, if ever there was insult added to injury... ...
By the way, I had shared with HRH the fence distance success LO had achieved. I hope it is not too ... inappropriate... for me to cut and paste his email to me this a.m.
Tell her I only wish I could still do that............................ and spell my name in the snow. Wait until he does that.
A lady stopped HRH today and asked him how much time's growth was invested in his beard now. The reason? Her niece has started planning her wedding and told all the men in the large wedding party to start growing beards - she wants everyone to have a full growth! LOL! HRH had to tell her that the short span of time until the wedding might not be enough for everyone to match in the photographs! Oh well, to each her own.
Congratulations on your second place state-wide crochet finish, Elizabeth, and your third place for Barbie dress. Well deserved.
HRH was home for some of the day and we talked about the bathroom upper cabinetry again. Ultimately we seemed to be deciding for sure on our choice at home improvement store, with a slight change. I did say, though, that maybe we should do the outdoor chores during this weather and save the indoor redo until winter. I noticed he was quiet about that.
Picked dd up from her after-school event and, as I had told him I might, took her by Goodwill to look for project oversize sweatshirt/hoodies (she wants to remake some to fit her). And we ran by on another errand.
Well.
When we got home she walked in ahead of me and called, "Mom? I think you'd better look at this." :shock: My entire bathroom is in my dining room! Ugh. The curtain rod with outer curtain is over the sideboard. The vanity mirror is on the bookcase. All kinds of things you wouldn't think of - light fixtures, framed art, bulbs, switchplates, just everywhere. Sigh. Sigh. Dd was enjoying making echo sounds in the bare bathroom. I suppose this is his way of saying, "We're committed now." Dbil is coming to paint, I understand. Oh, I hope this won't be long and drawn out.
Dd was surprised by the invitation to join the National Art Honor Society today. She has no current art classes, so is going in on teachers' recommendations and her grade point average, and "leadership" because of the museum's teen program. She's very pleased. I am, too, though I wonder how many afternoons she is going to have left after calendaring all these clubs.
I wanted to post all this hours ago. Family phone calls interrupting again. I don't know what I'm going to do if everyone can't start getting along with each other without benefit of telling ME everything!
Hi everyone! I have finished catching up with my emails and done the assessments for the recruiter. I have also dealt with a prescription issue, claimed some rewards points, printed job interview info, and reclaimed DD12's room. I found the flip flop that the twin friend had lost in there, buried under blankets and stuffed animals.
Think it's time for a break and a snack. Then, I absolutely must get the stuff together for the financial advisor tomorrow, organize and write up some job search stuff, paint the Anna dress strips (only 8 more to go), and I'm sure there is some other stuff I have forgotten.
Twin's Mom: I was raised in Mobile, AL, but am told that most of the time I don't have an accent anymore. It returns if I go back home or have guests from home, or if I get angry or very tired. I do retain a lot of dialect like "might shoulda", "usta could", and "fixin' to". Also, the 'cuss words' like "dangit" and "dadgummit". There is a word for the stringing together of the prepositions, but I can't remember what it is. I'm terribly guilty of it.
Home from class. It is brisk outside so I walked briskly and it felt good to do so!
Made friends with someone from class and walked back to the transit station with him (about half the walk.) I'm actually very happy at this moment. Ran into ds leaving to meet up with Not The Girlfriend for a dinner with her before he heads to work. They are still close friends so she'll be a good tonic for him.
Hugs for {{LMaverick and LO}} and {{Elizabeth}} for lost application.
Congratulations to Harriet's DD.
Elizabeth, I do admire how you cope with the X. Even though it must be hard, it is surely a benefit to your DD to not have uproars around her. Oh, and congrats for the ribbons for your crafts.
LOL Harriet. It all comes full circle, though, when little boys become old men with wonky prostates!
Tough day. I wasn't feeling too great. Expected that since I'd been working so hard around here and I ended up so charged up Sunday night (remember we had small group here, and some new people at that) that I was a long time trying to get to sleep.
But DH needed help getting his trucks to next jobsite, and I made 2 trips out to the farthest reaches of our work area to take him back and forth. Did stop by bank on the way, also the pharmacy to pick up Rx. Had no time to cook so we stopped at store and picked up salad and chicken.
Bad news, DH took the long statement to customer and customer had problems with funds. He has just now started the process to refinance their home so they can finish their jobs, pay us, the tile setter, the plumber, the electrician. AAARRRRGH! This is not good. He knew he was out of money but still went ahead with the job before getting his financing together...and we worked long and hard there for weeks and weeks... at this hoarder house.
They did not get their act together earlier because she was in another country (Turkey I think handling stuff with her properties). And speaking of other countries, have you seen the news tonight? Enough to give me an ulcer attack for sure. DD's DBiL and family is in United Arab Emerites, in Abu Dhabi, working. He tells us UAE is very pro american and whatever we do/say they agree...but still they're right in the middle of Arab territory...so it's worrisome. This guy was unable to find work here but there is lots of work for professionals over there.
Now to see if I can sleep..
