Hello, villagers ~
Forgive me, I am not at all cuop but will have to be content to reply to today's notes.

Gracious! I agreed to volunteer at another social event tomorrow morning, to spend a few hours at a fabric store doing publicity for the sewing group. I had planned to say no because I had offered to work if it was a weekday but it ended up being a Saturday. Also, the situation with the group's president has gotten worse, not just with me but also with other board members. However, the person who organized this event has always been very sweet to me and a hard worker for the group, and she's having a terrible time finding anyone who can help tomorrow.

The "work" will be easy: stand at a table and answer questions about our group. It will be about a 40 minute drive to get there in the morning but I don't have to be there until 10, so it won't be like last weekend when I had to be on the road before the sun was up.

Kathryn, good news for ds's apartment. Nice for you, too, to have a few extra days to make decisions about storage.

Lucylee, I'm glad your parade adventure was not as scary as you anticipated.

Must get off this machine and take the payment for property taxes to the post office. I usually like to deliver the payment in person to the county offices, but that drive is over 45 minutes 1-way and then I'd have to stand in line to pay. That feels like such a waste of time today when I don't have any other errands to do in The Big City, so I will trust the U.S. mail.

Well, you know what "they" say about best laid plans??? I had just started my usual Friday/Weekend cleaning routine when we got a phone call from ddil#2. She rushed home from school to be with dgd19 who was very upset. Seems dgd drove her dsis12 to school and was on her way home when she somehow clipped the fender of another car that she didn't see. The woman called her husband who said not enough damage to call police or ins. co. - so they exchanged info & dgd took a picture of fender, called her dmom and her ddad (ds#2). Dgd thought everyone was going to be angry with her. I could never be angry with such a sweet girl! The car is still in my name and I pay the insurance; ddil called her ins co to let them know in case the other lady decided to report it. So they wanted to find out if we still wanted dgd to have the car --- yes, of course we do! All this to say I stopped what I was doing to find the title so that we could meet at DMV whenever they are ready. It only took a few minutes as I knew where it should be. Then we will have to go to our ins. co. to stop coverage, probably some time next week, which is convenient since new lic registration is due next week. That will save us some money!

Kathryn, ds will be happy when he's settled in his apartment.

Growing up I loved reading the Little House books and the Nancy Drew books. I also got the Weekly Reader Book Club books in the mail monthly. I still have a couple of those books. Anyone else read those?

Back from dd's. Cleaned up all her gardens, front and back. Plus one of her neighbour's!

Her stoop is 3' from the edge of her property area (its a condo so no-one owns anything) and her neighbour's stoop is 3' from the property area, making a 6' garden between the two stoops. Dd's half has a plant with pretty foliage but it was spreading from there over to the neighbour's side, plus up the wall and around the hose-tap. The neighbour only had weeds (and a bit of dd's plant.) I trimmed dd's plant back but the other side looked messy so I weeded it and put down mulch to match dd's side.

On the other side of a the stoop is a 10' garden and I removed all the plastic plants and flower (seriously) and the tacky planters. There was one good plant. Weeded everything else out, put in two trellises, one on each side of her kitchen window, two decorative 'stepping' stones, a set of Live, Laugh, Love 'bricks' and returned the cute statue of a bunny. I placed the fall mums I bought her in the centre. It looks lovely.

In the backyard I just pulled everything out of the garden (there was nothing to save) and weeded under a bush she has in the corner. Put the bunny statue from our house under the bush and the so tacky they are kind-of neat planters from the front into the back garden. A general tidy, pulling the weeds from around her garbage pad and I was done.

I took forever to get there (the highway was at a standstill at 1 in afternoon so I baled and took side streets.) Had lunch at Subway by her house before tackling the gardening. Trip home was during rush hour so that meant having to get off the highway early as well and taking back roads home.

I'm on the balcony, enjoying the breeze and fine weather but I really should get dinner started. I want to go out but have healthy food that needs to be eaten up.

Ohhh... (((Sunny's dgd))) Bless her heart, being so worried about upsetting you about the car! You're a good grandma, Sunny!

And you are a good mama, Kathryn! That was so nice to clean out and redo those planters.

I am s2s and ready to go to ballgame. Hope all goes well -- that I can sit w/dfriends for maybe part of the game and then rejoin ds/dh.
Hope ds asked ddil about the fair and he will go ahead and tell me she is agreeable to that. It's so hard to keep from stepping on a ddil's toes... and I have pretty large feet, anyway. * sigh *
And then, to continue this metaphor... when ddil screams that her toes hurt, I have to contend w/a dh who complains that HIS toes hurt too, LOL, and doesn't she realize how much the pitter patter of little feet have been running over his toes anyway???

I need a nap before the game.

Hello. Nancy, so sorry you got hit with a bug.

I had something happen last night. We were looking at products for our customer, she was trying to pick something and we were having trouble finding specs and installation sheets. The ph. # internet person sent an email with links to those files, but those files were bad. First one opened 306 tabs and DH didn't see it happening at the top of the file, and then we couldn't get it shut down. Finally got everything deleted (no small task) then ran 2 scans and went back in and those tabs were still there.... got them deleted again and scanned again and dumped the emails...just hours of work and all is finally good again.

We went to another site today and clicked on the specs and downloaded just as neat as pie. This was HD big box web site and internet person that was messed up.The manufacturer's website was just fine.

Got the flower seeds planted in the front planter and in a bare area along the house.

We were gracious today, we gave our helper a raise! He's a great worker.

Still have dishes to do, must get going.

Great dinner. Ds decided to eat at home but is in bed now and will have the leftovers before he leaves for work.

I've just realized that everything that has to go in a truck has to be ready to go by Sunday night.

Thankfully, I'm not preaching this weekend, nor teaching Sunday School. Dh has a delivery he promised for Monday morning (he promised that before we booked the truck.) So we are all scrambling.

Tomorrow is dd's housewarming party, though, so all three of us are missing that time to pack (and ds is working overnight tonight, tomorrow night and Sunday night.) This is going to be an exhausting weekend.

Several times the view has stopped me and changed my tasks. I barreled out of bed to take photos this morning and then dh told me of a fog bank coming down the river so I took photos of that. Then tonight I was talking with him and looked up. The sunset was gorgeous with the sliver of the moon over the river so I rushed back out onto the balcony with the camera and tripod. Sunrise to sunset, today has been a beautiful day.

I'm glad I keep the camera mounted on the tripod and the tripod next to the balcony door. It makes rushing off for a shot a lot easier.

Dd just posted on FB a picture of a Pyrex dish is shards on her stove. She was making oven fries, heated the oil in it, took it out to add the potato and it shattered when she put it on her stove top. I recall this being in the news years ago and Google brought up a Consumer Reports article where they had absolutely no problem recreating exploding dishes.

She's looking for a European made one now. Mine are all old and apparently still of the safer material since she learned to pull the pan out of the oven and put it on the stove top from watching me. Even a metal pot rest will cause them to break - it has to be a dish towel or cloth oven mitt for total safety.

I've cleaned up the kitchen. Am exhausted now (no surprise, was out of bed at 6 after a poor night's sleep.)

Will go brush my teeth so I'll stop eating. I'll also start another load of laundry.
