Lilac, I sure hope Ruby is beginning to recover. Wouldn't that be a blessing!
Dee, hope DH's tests show no news/good news.
Helia, you will manage your housework with the new schedule. Just play catch-up all the time like I do!
Made the dpc to insurance company. Yesterday I was on hold so long I gave up. Today they picked up right away. The only difference was that I said "yes" to taking the survey afterward. Maybe only yes-people get through.
Gal was so soft on the phone and I had to keep telling her to speak up... and I found out what the drug plan actually pays. And I found out that not all preferred pharmacies charge the same amount. I've been paying a lot of money on one drug that I needn't have been. And now I have a better understanding of what the Tiers are all about. I will be checking prices to verify what she said was true, and then probably putting all my Rx's at WM. WGreens has been massively over-charging me. I wish I knew this sooner, I lost a lot of money.
Trying to think positively about it, knowing I'll be saving $ going forward.
Had a nice plate of ham fried up with an egg. Eating up the boiled ham I had bought for DH's lunch sandwiches. He complained about my sandwiches once too many times. Don't have to do that any more. He complained about dinner too, so I don't have to do that any more either. No A/C is saving us money and it's cool enough right now it doesn't bother me. I don't know when things will be normal around here again.
I think something is going on he's not told me about. I noticed he's not taking helper's lunch which means he has no helper maybe and that's a big huge problem. Maybe that's what's wrong...
Good success at your new job, Elizabeth! I'm so glad you found one and know they will be happy they've hired you.

Hello to everyone!
Still feeling kinda draggy around here, but I forced myself to follow the cards (checklist) and I have a few ta-da's to report:
* straightened bed, did 5 min floor exercise
(trying so hard to make that a habit... did it 10 days in a row, and then skipped 4 or 5 days...

)
* weighed, recorded
* ate, took vitamins
* phone calls w/ddil -- no their phone charger is not in our SUV...
* s/s two toilets (need to do third. Even though no one ever uses it, stuff grows there if it is not flushed periodically)
* Bible reading, journaling (trying to keep a gratitude journal again)
* brought in plants from carport, watered all plants
* walked -- 2 mile prayer walk -- good for the body AND soul
I need to s2s.
Church meeting tonight. Should be VERY short.

Wednesday Wanna's
I addressed nearly every envelope,
I'm not procrastinating! Nope!
Next, I'll sign each card.
This isn't going to be hard.
It's a lot of fun
to get this job done.
It's been nagging in my mind.
So I decided to be kind.
And just get it completed
so at Christmas time, I'm not depleted
and tired and worn out
until I could pull my hair and shout.
As I sign each card today,
I'll be able to write greetings to say
how we're doing all right
and how their friendships shine bright.
It's heart-warming to keep in touch.
I enjoy the holidays so much.
It's a time to relax and enjoy,
as I love my granddaughter & each grand-boy.
I usually procrastinate.
It's something I hate.
There's a monkey on my back.
So I decided, this project, to attack!
I feel much better, already, I do.
It's relaxing to be prepared, too.
Wednesday's desk day at my house.
Oh, do I hear a mouse?
I hope you all have a nice day!
I'm out of any new words to say.
So I'll sign off here now.
And go sign cards- and how!

Hello, villagers ~
I stayed up way too late last night working on a big decluttering project, but made a lot of progress. Woke up at usual time after only 3 hours sleep, so I got up with DH and had a little breakfast. I stayed up a couple hours, did dishes, and went through some more magazines so they can be recycled. Then I went back to bed! Another 2 hours of sleep puts me up to 5 hours. I can cope with that as long as I don't have to do anything that requires too much brain power.
Today's 8x8:
* Wash my hair
* Take all those needlecraft & quilting magazines out to the recycle bins in the garage
* Go to the post office
* Stop by the library to pick up donations that I will deposit at the bank tomorrow
* Finish the laundry started yesterday
* Finish the state taxes so DH can sign tonight
* Keep looking for things that can be tossed out
* Carry the trash & recycle bins to the curb tonight
I am having a good time creating empty spaces.

Oh, my lunch smells good so it must be hot enough to eat. BBL.

Booksaver , I don't know about your library, but mine is delighted to receive magazines, as long as I tear or cut off my address label. I wondered if your library does that, too. Since you're going by there anyway, you might be able to drop them off for others who love to read those types of magazines, too. Just a thought. Sorry about your sleep, too!
LucyLee , If it's hard for you to make entries into your gratitude a habit, you can make 5 entries a day, keep your journal by your Bible, too. Just an idea, if you wanted to make it a habit.
Harmony , Good luck as your journey into this land of which drug company to go with, too. I agree, some overprice ALL their drugs!
Elizabeth , Enjoy your new computer and good luck on your new job, too!
Waving to
Twins' Mom, Dee, Kathryn, Helia, Nancy, Harriet, LadyM, Sunny, Lilac, Blessed, RRose, Sadie & Others. Have yourselves a wonderful Wednesday Wanna's day today!

FF -- that's what I do, combine journaling w/Bible reading time, and make notes of Bible verses or study notes that seem to speak directly to my need for the day.
* For example -- TODAY -- one of the footnotes said that often the enemy is not defeated in one great battle, but in numerous small steps over a long period of time.
Isn't that just exactly what BABY STEPS are designed to help us do with the enemy of clutter and household chores and all that daily stuff...
AND... perhaps that is what I need to hear re: dmom... there is no ONE BIG THING that will solve all her problems; we just have to take small steps as we go along.
Harmony -- dmom seems impressed w/Walmart's generic drug plan. She said she was going to start getting all that she could there, and only use our regular pharmacy for the things that she HAS TO have name-brands for.

I'll keep that (ds for Christmas) in my thoughts and prayers, Sunny.
Just got back from shopping. Found a pair of brown slacks which I dearly need. The last pair I bought were when my ddad passed away in '98

-and I'm still wearing them. Amazed they're still so good.
I think you're right, Sunny. They probably wanted to compare to his last one and have a new base.
Just turned on the oven -we're having S touffer's veggie lasagna for supper -we all like it. Takes 70 minutes to bake though so will put it in as soon as the oven is up to temp. Also bought stuff to make a potato soup in the crockpot. DD has been looking at this one (very easy) recipe for the last few weeks. Figured I'd give it a whirl.

Dd1 called. They think that she suffered a torn disc. I think that was the term she used. It is too late for surgery because it is healing and will have scar tissue. So they gave her a set of physical therapy exercises to do with Ruby and they want to see her again in a month. The vet was cautiously optimistic. The local vet had told them she needed $5000 surgery or be put down at the time of the accident. It is too bad that he didn't give them some hope at the time.

FelineFriend ~ Yes, our library does accept donated magazines and if these were recent ones, that's where I'd take them. However, the library is fortunate enough to receive so many donated magazines that they don't have room for them all. Now they are forced to say they can only take the ones that are less than a year old, unless they are something really special.
These that I'm recycling are ones that I bought from a library sale, and I was told that they would rather I not bring them back. They are not rare enough to be special.
The unfortunate thing is that the ones that are really old and interesting, from the 1960s, are in such terrible shape that they were falling apart as I was trying to look at them. Really not worth anything.
They may not even be worth the time I've been giving to look at them before recycling -- but I like looking at needlecraft magazines and they're certainly a lot more interesting than a so-called reality tv show.
PS: I liked your poems -- how clever you are to post your check-ins in rhyme!

You will think that I'm a sap
But I took time to take a nap.
That's as far as I can get without putting too much time into it!
I'm in my new hiking boots. I have 60 days to decide if I want to keep them as long as I only wear them inside. 30 of those days have gone by and I'm just now putting them on. I figured today would be a good test since my feet are fairly sore. So far, so good. The grip is a bit too good and, if my foot is over the edge, it catches on the edge of my cushion mat in the kitchen and lifts the mat when I go to move my foot. I've tripped once so far and nearly tripped a second time.
I'm making lower fat fish and chips for dinner. Usually we cook the fish in the oven but have homemade deep fried fries. Tonight I'm trying a Rocco method for doing both the fish and fries.
Another of the walking group members has asked for a walk tomorrow so I've agreed to that. If nothing else, if I walk with one of them each day my numbers will go way up!
