Y'all make my world go round an' round ...

My kitchen is filled with dog bone shaped dog cookies...200 3" peanut butter glutin free ones. We are having a fund raising community garage sale tomorrow and Sat. and since I'mconstantly sending things to G will had nothing to contribute. So in lieu of that decided to make for-real doggie bags. Now I have to set up my assembly line and get the cookies packaged.

Not knitting Harriet, but certainly is making my brain think creatively.

Our Jr. hs tried to enforce students ids, but that fell by the way side years ago.

Last night on my FB I noticed that "the girl" will be attending a bridal gown event this weekend....hummmm, I wonder if that means any thing?? I hope i hope I hope

OMG! Why would "the girl" be going to a bridal gown event if not to check out gowns for her I love it I am so excited I can hardly stand it Tell "what's his name ) we need an invite to that wedding. I can hardly wait.

Lucylee opened this morning with Jimmy Kimmel's special - $29.95 - to ship a relative to unknown unsuspecting family for the holidays. I have never laughed so hard as I do at some of his ideas. He is great and I told Mr. Guy we needed to tape him every night so we can start our morning with much laughter. He likes him too because he used to be on Fox with "the guys" as I call them - Howie, Terry, MIchael and Jimmy. He was so good.

Today is nail day and I will be leaving soon for that. Errands and lunch afterwards and then some cleaning projects around here. Tomorrow we are taking our neighbors to Lake Tahoe for Huevous Rancheros at a new place we found. Oh, Yum, to die for. (They are Mexican and this is a favorite dish of theirs.)

Alrighty! Living room isn't finished but it is MUCH better than it was an hour ago. It is like peeling layers - I think it is done then I walk out of the room and when I come back I see something else that needs to be done.

just FYI today is National Men Make Dinner Day!

I spent some time reviewing the changes to our Health Insurance for 2015. I didn't see any MAJOR changes. But of course cost is creeping up each year.

DH just arrived home. Lunch is ready to serve....too bad I didn't see the Men make Dinner before I prepared it. LOL

Norma, it took me a minute but I figured out who those guys are! lol

Phone call today from the deacon who has a tree to put up in our fellowship hall. Things are coming together for that and I'm pleased. We will get it done early Sunday morning. I don't know how I can manage everything, since dd34's whole family will be here as well, but it will happen somehow.

The new mirrored medicine cabinet is here and looks like the cabinet maker really did a wonderful job, except that has no clear method for hanging. Hmmm. We need a warm, dry day so that we can wipe the last of the sanding dust away and stain it outside. I'm so tired of no mirror in the front bath. It's disconcerting.

Ack!!! Closing company called and wanted insurance agent name we have selected for BH. Uhmmmm.... I haven't done that yet. She said they are ready to close and to call as soon as I have it.

Norma: Not to rain on your parade but perhaps "The Girl" has a best friend getting married, she's maid of honor and they are going to pick out the friend's dress. Just saying.....

I finally finished watching West Wing. (Note this is the first time I've watched the last 10 episodes of the season.) So I seriously didn't know for sure Santos one, nor did I know where everyone ended up. I had seen CJ saying highways were what Africa needed and remembered that when I was in Africa so I must have seen parts of episodes and I think I saw the final episode although I'm not sure. I can't remember what happened in my life that I missed all those episodes but I did. And, I own the box set but have never managed to make the time for the episodes. On the other hand, it was on Netflix, I started the last season and was whipping through paperwork, listening to episodes until I hit the ones that were new to me.

Since finishing the season earlier this afternoon, I've done the weekly kitchen chores, except mopping, started the dishwasher, unloaded the dryer (still need to fold and put away), taken out the garbage and recycle and picked up the grocery flyers and mail. So I'm on a roll.

Dh is off getting the snow tires on. Unfortunately, in the city you need to book an appointment (they are booking a week from now) so he just drove out to the country and is getting it done at our tire place. And extra hour of driving but the job will be done today (and he had already loaded the tires into the car so wanted it done today.)

Dishwasher just stopped so it's time to open the door and let them start drying. And to fold the laundry. And layout my clothes for tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.

Alrighty! Insurance quote calls made. I have one quote now, another promised tomorrow and the 3rd one promised next week. I'm fairly sure the quote I have in hand is the one we will go with. I'm waiting to talk with DH about it before going forward with the process. DH is delivering food to VDFriend family home and then unloading salt at MPB.

I'm tired of sitting. Going to get up and get some things done. It is sunny and beautiful outside. Think I will pick some of the 1,000 or so peppers still in the garden. I will be giving them away. Our killing freeze is predicted to hit next Tuesday so need to go through the process of closing the vegetable garden for the year......***sigh*** just realized it will be my last time closing this garden. I believe my feelings are much stronger/passionate for the garden than for the house.

Editing to change plans. Didn't get a chance to go play in the garden. I put dishes in DW while txting with DGS17. He is asking if I will take him on a few college tours (in state) Sigh. I really don't want to but if I don't do it no one will. I think every person should have an opportunity to go to college if it is their desire. DGS17 has stay in school and excelled with almost no parental help. So.....putting college tours on my must-do-but-not-right-this-very-moment list.

LO is due home in about 5 minutes.

In US, postal service will add Sunday delivery from Nov 17 through Christmas this year.

I (and I'm sure, our carrier) have mixed feelings about this, but I do want the USPS to be able to be competitive and strong and stay with us as a daily-delivery entity. It was a little disturbing when those ideas of cutting back on days of delivery were floated.

Dbil came to get HRH and they are going over to his house so HRH can pick up our truck. It's been weird to be without it even a little while.

Dd had engineering club after school and then called to be picked up. Both HRH and I missed the calls. I think we scared her a little. Hate that. She called her brother, though, and he teased her out of it until I realized and called her back.

Ramblin' that school allows one (count 'em, one) more tardy than dd's school, then, before lunch detention. So I guess detentions for simply being late is not so unusual. I remember when my older children were in school there was such a thing as "silent lunch" but it was still in the lunchroom with others and not a detention. I really think "detention" is an unfortunate label for a non-conduct offence and will discourage students from continuing to try to keep good conduct, if just being late puts them into the same discipline.

Harriet... you and your daughter are special. Being tardy and having to serve detention "means" something to you. Most kids couldn't care less and see it as an inconvience. Detention in its self can vary from teacher to teacher and school to school. Some detention areas are very strict with no talking and such, while others allow communicaiton between those students serving detention.

In my case, I never made the experience very pleasant, but many of the kids didn't care what I did. Plus many didn't even eat lunch even though they were entitled to a "free lunch" or could afford their own. Once Michelle Obama put her lunch program into place the majority of the kids quit eating. If you ever tried to eat one of those lunches you would understand. So our lunch time has really changed tomore of a social gathering.

Also over the years coming to school "tardy" had became a huge problem. Our school starts at 9:05 and kids were coming to school after 10:00 which means they were missing their entire first hour. The same thing was occuring at all the high schools, who like yours begin at 7:20. That meant some of our kids had to be at their bus stop at 6:00 am.
