Hello, hello!!!

Boy, I really need some PWYC Power from you ladies today...
DH is playing golf so it is a good chance for me to get the WHB done. I just can't seem to make any progress with that when he is around.
Also, I'm afraid dmom will call and want me to come help her today, so I'm worried that I'm going to be pulled in two directions -- and probably shouldn't even be ON the computer at all... but here's my PODA:

[x] s2s, Bible reading, morning stretches/exercise
[x] s/s master bath
[x] breakfast
[x] post office
[x] doctor's office to drop off gift for dfriend's mentoree
[/] laundry (first load in the washer now)
[ ] vacuum
[ ] Christmas cards (I'm trying to do 10 a day; got 14 done yesterday)
[ ] labels for dgs' picture for Christmas cards
[ ] type council meeting minutes
[ ] dmom?

* Whoosh * That's me -- speeding off to work!
Tomorrow is another day.

That's always nice to read, Nancy!
Oh Sadie, sorry you had so many problems with the insurance. It really is a mess these days. I got my new drug card and confirmation letter and cancelation from other co. for 2015. That was hard to do. I have an Rx to refill and want to change pharmacies but there is only one month left on the current insurance, so I don't know how that will all work out. We shall see.

I got my mail off at the post office. Bought a special Christmas card and a CD mailer. Looked while I was out 4 places, hunting a packet (6?) hanging folders in different colors - nowhere to be found. I did find the file bin I've already bought and considering postage and all, I could have gotten it for $3.00 less - but that's not bad and I'm sure glad it's on its way here. I have green file folders but I was hoping I could find an assortment - because DH might learn to file his papers if he knows them by color. I don't want to buy a box of 25 and they usually come in just one color anyway. Sheesh. This shouldn't be so hard.

Did some email business chores. Talked to DSMiL on phone. Now I need to go wash 2-day's dishes.

I consider Christmas a project! At least now that I don't have little ones, it can be crammed into December. When the kids were younger, the HGP was perfect for me. I didn't get going full bore in September but I did enough in those early months (especially cooking extra meals for the freezer) that December wasn't as stressful as it might have been.

I took 3 large bins, a large pile of collapsed archive boxes, a toddler bed rail and the pram over to ds's. Brought back the card table (and promptly found a permanent home for it here - I've missed having one.)

Forgot to send the new pot and space heater over to ds's although we were so fully loaded down, I don't think we could have managed to get the extra items upstairs. We made it up in one load. His elevators are larger than ours (we had to take two down when we left here.)

There are many ways his apartment building is better than mine. 1) they get enough grocery flyers for everyone (in fact, if I miss getting them here, I get a set from ds.) 2) they have Christmas decorations in their lobby. 3) they have the 'free room' on the first of each month. Good stuff left behind by departing tenants is put out there. (We have the free table but stuff left behind by tenants doesn't get put out on it - so furnishings end up in the garbage.) 4) they have regular fire alarm tests each month and today they had a voluntary fire drill where tenants could choose to evacuate when the alarms sounded and staff would go through checking each apartment. (Here we get our first alarm test tomorrow - we've been here for 6 months.)

On the other hand, I suspect the quality of tenant is higher here. Ds gets the mail for the former tenant and it includes items from collection agencies and bail bondsmen!

After dropping stuff at ds's, I headed out for our surprise lunch meeting. We were to meet at 1 at Presbytery but met earlier
at a pub and had lunch. There was much laughter, as well as a lot of work summarizing the pros and cons of the Cracks Festival. It was a financial disaster so it was much easier to deal with the numbers with a convivial atmosphere in which to receive them.

I picked up a few groceries and then came home. I need to get on the treadmill for a bit. And check dh's flights to see when I'm supposed to go to the airport to pick him up. I just recall it is late.

DS is not mad at me re: my "nosiness" and critical eye at his house last night; as long as we avoid the subject, all is well. He is very good at putting temporary aggravations behind him and he doesn't hold grudges... but OTOH, he totally ignores my helpful advice. ;) Oh well -- even if they NEVER improve this situation, there are many worse problems we/they could have.

Editing...
Starting on the council minutes. I hate doing these minutes. I just keep this position b/c I'm afraid they'll put me on some difficult committee if I give this up.

Back from the gym. The elliptical is not as rigorous as a jog. I really don't even sweat or breathe hard after 30 minutes. I didn't think I was in great shape beforehand, but I'm not sure this is going to help me get into better shape - or even maintain. Maybe I should set the tension higher for a longer period of time? I did try to push myself while on it. Or maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and jog on the indoor track -- which is so mind-numbingly boring. OTOH, highs are near 40 for the next few days. Maybe if I went at the warmest point in the day, I could get another jog or 2 in?

Dh called this afternoon before I went to the gym. He was on the platform changing trains in NL en route from Utrecht to his father's city. He said he'd call me about now when he gets settled in his ddad's house. I wonder if instead, he just passed out utterly exhausted? I wouldn't blame him if he did.

OK - on to getting dinner for dd16 and myself. Leftover pasta (I pulled from the freezer earlier), leftover sauce + I'll make more from scratch. Salad and rolls.

I've eaten. 9 WW points so far today and exercised for 2, I think. Maybe I only exercised for 1 point if I didn't even break a sweat??

Dd16 is leaving in about an hour to go to church youth group. I'll work on the SS lesson tonight. It's for adults. This class has been averaging about 25 in attendance, so not too large. The last 2 weeks, it's been more like 21-23. I count each week.

Home from errands and I didn't do very well. I forgot to take the dry cleaning and didn't get to several but OTOH did get to the mall area and got new heels on my favorite boots (and they are polished up so pretty!) and got my glasses adjusted while waiting for the boots, I also purchased new lipstick and two eye shadows for the holiday parties that are on the calendar - at this point two scheduled for next Sat night.

Very frustrated re community religious school. No response from yesterday's email to guy who is chair and no response from the lady who is the director, and I earlier left a voice mail asking her to email me to confirm she rec'd my email. She has almost 2K in uncollected tuition, which contributed to the cash flow issue last week. I asked on Sept 30 for a plan to collect it, I asked last week if it was collected (no response to either) and yesterday. Wondering if I should just bail out given the level of support out there.

Dh suggested last night that we go out to dinner tonight but he's not home yet and I haven't heard anything from him today. Frustrated with him also.

Oh, just heard from dh and I'm off....

So I'm sitting there eating dinner and notice one set of lights in the living room goes off. Then on. Then off. These are the LED lights. I figure it is a bad connection since they are plugged into the other string of regular mini-lights. So I plug then directly into the power outlet. Same thing.

Sigh.....

I've dug the last set of lights out and will replace them. I'm getting tired of pulling out and putting back the furniture in front of the windows so I can get in there with the ladder.

Dh just tried to call from Toronto. I asked him to email me instead. The first call I couldn't hear anything except distortion, the second time I realized it was him (I checked caller ID) but he was still breaking up too badly to have a conversation. The issue is that he can 'call' over VOIP as long as his cell phone is connected to the internet. Except, public wifi isn't strong enough or fast enough. Does he use the cell phone feature of his, you know, cell phone? No. Instead I get repeated calls that are weird (and slightly spooky when I'm home alone) until I figure out it is my husband stalking me.

At least I'm assuming it is my husband and not someone who has spoofed our VOIP account. His plane landed 40 minutes ago so my guess is he's off the plane and through customs now. Or else he's been arrested and wasted his phone call.

I'm annoyed because I have email, skype and text messaging ready to hear from him, as well as equipping him with a cell phone, assuming he didn't use up his time in Sweden, but he chose to use the one form of communication that I've repeatedly shown doesn't work. Plus, the phone line he calls in on doesn't work at my desk - it's another plaster wall issue) so I had to get up from my desk and walk to another room to answer the phone.
