Back home, feeling tired and somewhat grumpy. We stopped and ate sandwiches around 4 pm, so no one is really hungry for dinner. I drove out of Chicago and then a little ways until we found a place to stop. Then, dd19 drove the rest of the way - her choice, surprise, surprise! Dh doesn't enjoy driving/doesn't do well driving - he was having trouble staying awake en route to my parents, so I did the lion's share of the driving that trip, as well as from my parents to Chicago. He sits in the car with his laptop open and works.
We stopped by dfriends' home and picked up the dogs. Maia was VERY excited to see us! Dh has said no Percy the Panicky Pelican tonight. . .I'll have to wait until later to let Maia play with her honking toy.
We are pretty much unpacked. I put away the snacks, the dog things, clothes from my suitcase. I still need to put away some toiletries.
I reread my last post, and I forgot to say that at my parents' home, dh and I did try to engage duncle in conversations, but they didn't go far. . . And of course I am comfortable conversing with my parents, so I do ask them about how/what they're doing, and I do have conversations with them. Dh pretty much avoids conversations with dmom b/c they have a long painful history; she doesn't like him. Maybe that is less true now, but dh is not taking chances.
Glad your family get together was so harmonious, Harmony! It is nice to see people and relationships develop and mature over time.
Dfriends from TX aren't coming until Tuesday afternoon, so that gives me more time to do laundry, groc. shopping, and get their room and the bathroom downstairs ship-shape. Also, it gives me more time to try to indulge in hermit-like behavior to rejuvenate. LOL!
I might rustle up a sandwich or something.
