Gettin' ready to two-step again. Headache is not much better. Dh called to chat and suggested Excedrin.

-clear and set breakfast area table
-start a load of delicates to hang dry later
-front porch clean up - empty dog poop container, sweep a little, move dead plant to back patio
-get rid of DH's birthday balloons
-look up and print salmon recipe

Elizabeth, so sorry the loan refinance isn't happening tomorrow. Will the refinance happen now or have they declined? Banks have gotten so nit picky these days.

LM, I felt so much better yesterday when the sun came out....back to rain and dreary again today. How long have you and dh owned the MPB?

How long have you and dh owned the MPB?

We are on our 11th year.

I let LO talk me out of doing his homework on time. When it was time to get started, he was all bundled up in his bed and begged to stay there. I may regret it, but I think some down time is needed. It is so rare for LO to be still during daylight hours that it now I'm wondering if he is getting sick.

I've made a small dent in the paperwork stack. I tried to pay the home warranty insurance but they wouldn't let me because we aren't listed as the owners. I contacted our realtor and she is going to get the owner information updated.

I keep trying to do things and then realize I can't. Our realtor is wanting to have an open house at our "old" house, but I need to clean it first......but I don't have a vehicle to go work there. I could hire someone to clean it......but I need to meet them there so they can get in.....but I don't have a vehicle. I need to be at LO school tomorrow afternoon.....I NEED A VEHICLE. I need to take DMom her groceries but .....same story....I NEED A VEHICLE! Okay... I'm done whining.

Time to go pull LO out of bed and be the homework encourager/task master.

Elizabeth, I have read your puzzlement about ankle and find it makes me puzzle, too. I suppose a quick thought would be circulation but that doesn't really make sense. Almost a nerve issue, but doesn't sound like one I've heard others mention.

I was SO PROUD of myself for checking online to see if there was a coupon recently for the sporting goods store at which dd finally found a jacket. Happily, there was a coupon at dealsplus.com for 20 percent. I printed it and noticed chat suggesting writing out the barcode numerals. Some had had the problem that the code was hard to scan. Sure enough we had that problem but by offering the numerals, the register was satisfied. The cashier even commented that it was unusual to have a coupon that worked for name-brand garment lines at their store. I wish every shopping decision could be that positive.

But in other coupon news, my determination to use my WF (fine healthy foods) store coupons sorta backfired. One was a respectable amount off the Tasty Bite products I've recommended here, but tucked throughout the store they only offered a few kinds - all new to me. Sigh. A pig in a poke rather than what I intended. The other coupon was a jewel - for Zevia sodas, and this is the one and only store I've ever found to carry my fav Cherry Cola flavor. Still, the trip itself became expensive. Nothing is value-priced there and I spend extra time searching the random item placement.

Just a quick cuop but it looks like warmer weather and better health is slowly seeping into at least a few areas of our village. (((HUGS))) to those still fighting the crud!

I think we're over it, still a little lingering coughs and sniffles, but nothing unusual really. Using vaporizer in the bedroom at night may be helping -- I actually started using it b/c w/the cold weather, we were both getting a little dry, itchy skin, and dh was beginning to complain that he "shocked" himself everytime he touched anything, LOL.

However, this has been another somewhat wasted day for me... no two-stepping, I'm afraid I have to admit.
* DH and I both got haircuts.
* I bought a wedding gift for a former student, spent a LONG while talking to antique store lady.
* Went to jewelry store to get pearl necklace re-strung. (It's one of those "tin cup" necklaces, so named for the movie YEARS ago where some actress wore it. It's the kind where the pearls are staggered about an inch or so apart, so the string shows quite obviously, and since I wear mine A LOT, the string gets kinda grungy looking after a while. I've probably had this one re-strung a couple of times. (It's an OLD movie.) As I told the jewelry store lady, I don't know if anybody else still wears theirs, but I love it, and I wear it a lot.)
* Returned library book
* Came home, ate a bunch of junk, started to read and/or take a nap... nap won...
* Several phone calls w/ds -- he was meeting his contractor friend at dmil's house and couldn't find the key. I told him to call dbil. He did, found out dbil was in court... I told him to call dbil's cell phone; he might check it before he went back to the office. Apparently he answered immediately, b/c ds called back to tell us that the key was in dbil's car -- he said he just kept it b/c it was too cold to return it to the hiding place the last time he was at the house. * shaking my head * After all was done, ds called back to say, "I don't know how cold it was when it was too cold for him to go out there, but it was snowing when I put the key back." But this all went well; contractor friend thought the basement mildew could be controlled/eliminated, and he did not think ds/ddil were too extravagant in any of their hopes and plans for renovations.
* Went to Taco Bell for my supper; dh is eating Healthy Choice meals in preparation for labwork and doctor's visit next week.
-- After Auburn completes what looks to be a losing battle to Florida (tv game dh is watching), I think we are going to see the movie, American Sniper.

So... it looks like a full day, but I don't feel I've accomplished ANYTHING.

Re: snow here -- it's more of a cold rain. We did have some pretty flakes earlier, but I think it's all fizzled out now.

When I drove by the school, I thought how glad I was I was not having to answer all the questions -- "Are we getting out early? Did you know it is snowing, Mrs. Lucylee? Was it snowing at your house this morning? Are we getting out early? etc etc etc"

And (((HUGS))) for Twins, b/c the concerns you are dealing w/for your dmom and your dsis are not pleasant, even if things are handled smoothly.

Apparently you cannot get a refinance until the weight of the associated paperwork exceeds that of the loan officers.

That made me LOL, but I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this, (((Elizabeth))).

Hope LO isn't coming down with the flu virus! Beautician said her dd ran a high fever for six full days, but tested negative for two strains of flu, strep throat, and something else I can't remember.

OH -- re: my complaint w/the movie theater the other day -- guess what? They sent an email and said they are sending my free passes to use at my leisure.

And -- did any of you see my question re: the inspirational/complimentary? pebbles for dmom? I'll try to find that and repost... just wondering what y'all think about it, since dbro seemed to think it was such a dud of an idea.

Also -- I have a question. This is a pinterest idea that a friend did for her aunt. The friend is very crafty; I am not. However, everyone does compliment my penmanship, so I think I could manage it.
The friend asked other friends/family members to describe her aunt in one word.
Then she simply wrote the words on smooth river rocks in different styles w/a Sharpie and drew some designs, etc.
She covered them w/Mod Podge, I think, to make them shiny, put them all in a basket, and -- volia -- a neat gift for her aunt!

I am thinking of doing this for dmom's 70th birthday...
but is it going to put folks on the spot, to ask them to describe dmom in one word?

Dbro saw the picture of dfriend's project, and he didn't like the Sharpie on rock presentation for some reason... but I think he thought the idea was sorta neat.
DH says it's fine if it's a project I want to take on.
Ddil likes the idea; ds asked, "Who all are you going to ask for words?" (I figure I'll ask daunts, dgirl cousins, and maybe a few of dmom's closest friends whom I am friends with on FB.)

What do y'all think? Are people going to think "Hypochondriac... Depressed Hermit... Chatty Cathy..." and then be stuck b/c they can't give me a word???
Ddil suggested "gentle" and dh said "generous."
And it is going to be too schmaltzy? Sometimes stuff like that makes me nervous. I don't want to make her cry or something. I sound like Beaver Cleaver, don't I? (A teacher in college commented on my paper on The Sound and the Fury that I was "schmaltzy.")

lucylee, someone did this for my dfirstsisil and dh John, with names of their grandchildren. They are kept on the porch by the front door.

lucylee, at least I can tell you that I believe this idea comes from the Scottish tradition of the cairn. A cairn is a pile of rocks (the "i" makes the word for "rock" plural) that grows larger over time as more rocks are placed to mark an occasion for each person or event, or travelers commemorating the time they walked to it, etc. (Scots have always been very serious about how far they can carry rocks.) The largest photo I ever got published with a story was of our closest old cairn, so I am very fond of it and check on it every once in a while. This one is for "The Flo'ers o' the Forest" (those who have died). Really very sweet, not morbid at all. As far as words on those rocks, that has only happened with the last few placed within the past 3 years or so. All the old ones down underneath are just plain.

Lucylee: no matter how you finally decide to present the gift, I think it is a neat idea and it will work out quite well.

Dinner was OK but not great. Too much food though so I'm stuffed.

Dh and I watched "How to Train Your Dragon." I liked it a lot.

We've invited my minister friend over 'sometime' to watch Noah, which has just shown up on Netflix. On the other hand, I had meant to watch Kings which has disappeared from their database. Sigh....

I got the return authorization for the bluetooth speaker ds didn't want and will take it to UPS tomorrow so I can get my refund.

The big new story here is that Target in Canada is closing all their stores. There are some that have yet to open and now never will (in our major mall.) Target US is ok, but in Canada the prices were quite a bit higher than Walmart for exactly the same item (I know because I was shopping so much when we moved.) As well, the shelves were bare a lot of time. And I mean bare, literally 1/8th of a wall would have places for stock but nothing on it. I'm not really used to seeing that. In a particular section of the store, during a sale, perhaps but I was shopping in June and every aisle had bare sections in the housewares department.
