Dsonil came home, took a quick shower and has gone for his interview with C oca C ola. Hoping if that's what he wants that the interview goes well. He's already done all the testing and passed every one with flying colors. This would be a significant pay increase and definitely less driving -it's less than 10 minutes, whereas his Tampa job was 50 miles one-way. (On one of the worst highways -IMHO- in the world). However, it would mean `12 hour nights -2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 3 off. Sure would be a life-changer.

Just starting to look at airline fares for dh. His knee has been bothering him pretty badly the last week or so -probably 2 weeks. Noticed today that the upper part is quite swollen and he realized that his knee cap is moving in a way that it hasn't seemed to before. (He broke this knee cap, actually split in half many years ago.) The orthopedist had said in Oct that if his knee kept bothering him they'd do an MRI come spring when he returns. However, it seems to worsen. He actually was picking up a chair and turned to bring it to dbil/dsil's other table. When he turned his knee did not and it's really been bad since then. Will have dd (who is a physical therapist from way back) take a look when she gets home tonight and see what she thinks. True, he could see a Dr. down here, just know he's more comfortable going back up north to see this ortho. We'll see.

Kathryn - LOL! Wise words.....but I usually find it so hard to abide by them.

DGD3 is down for her nap and I'm taking a much needed break.

The handy-men finished up with all the projects that could be done today (the sheetrock mud needs to dry & still waiting on parts). I find it stressful to have people working in the house especially with DGD3 here. They frequently ask for my input on various ways to do repairs....do I want it here or 5" there? Do I want this or that? Once they ask and I tell them my preferences, then they chat about it. Meanwhile I am holding a 3 year old that is touching my the face trying to get my attention as they keep talking and talking....and talking. When they are working & making loud noises (banging/air gun/etc) then DGD3 folds up into a ball and shakes. Nope. Not a relaxing time at all.

TMI warning.....Plumber has come and gone. He tried to snake the drain but couldn't bust through. He pulled the toilet and there it was. The **Prize roll of toilet paper** that DGD3 tried to flush. I brought DGD3 to the bathroom and showed her that what she did yesterday broke the toilet and to not put toys & stuff down the toilet. I said it gently with zero anger, but DGD3 still cried. I'm not sure she remembers doing it yesterday because after the plumber left I took her to use the bathroom (I have an alarm set to take her every 2 hours). DGD3 used the bathroom but then she immediately JUMPED off the toilet and turned around as if the toilet would bite her. I hope she isn't scare of toilets now......but I do hope she has learn the lesson to not put extra things in the toilet.

DH had his quarterly diabetic check up this morning. All is well except DH is still suppose to lose weight (no surprise to anyone).

Checked on my vehicle....going to be in the shop another 3-5 days. Grrrrr.... I check on renting a car and discovered I'm too cheap to pay $60 a day to have a small vehicle. I'm half way aggravated at myself for that decision, but don't have anyone to blame except myself. :) I made arraignments for DH to be picked up for elder meeting tonight. I took DH to MPB and left him there (3 hours before he will be picked up) so I can have vehicle to pick up LO from school and take him to Karate. Afterward Karate lessons, I'll drive to church and pick up DH. That means DGD3 will be 2 hours late getting in bed and about an hour late getting LO into bed. DH will bring us home and then take the vehicle to do PM chores at MPB. Back...forth...round...and ...round. Today we are doing about 60 miles of extra driving just to share a vehicle. BONK! How much extra time & driving will it take to get me to shell out the $$ for a rental?

In between other things this morning I managed to type up the minutes from the last elders meeting. Thankfully it was a short meeting and there was only 6 action items to document. I proofed and printed the copies needed for tonight's meeting.

Hello, hello, everyone!
I'm a late arrival today, but I have NOT been wasting this day (as I too often do!)

We went to the funeral visitation, and then dh & ds headed off to college town for basketball game tonight. I went to the post office, paid phone bill, talked to dmom and offered to come out and help her w/anything she needed today since I'm free and on my own... but she said she was managing just fine, although I was always welcome to come over, of course, but she did need to drive to next city and deliver tax files to her accountant. I even asked if she was fine w/driving over there and she said oh yes, she didn't mind driving in that town at all except at night or during heavy rush hours (but where she's going won't put her in that sort of traffic anyway.)

So I told her I'd just go home and get started on my own stuff, which is quite enough to keep me busy till the men return.

So far, I have stripped the bed, put mattress pad in the washer, then dryer, now first quilt is in the washer, and I have spent a lot of money.
Online shopping... so easy... TOO easy. I have ordered probably a year's supply of the miracle body wash/shampoo and conditioner, since it is out of my way to go to T arget,
and I have ordered myself and dh each one of those "as-seen-on-tv" pillows from "M y P i l l o w." They are having a buy one/get one sale. However -- if any of you are interested in this product, I must tell you I had trouble w/their website. After second try, I just called the 800 number and had that done in about 3 minutes, actually.
Also spent some time online looking for NAVY BLUE "define a line" eyeliner... from M aybelline. * sigh * Got a feeling this is another favorite product about to be discontinued. Lynlee could ship me some, LOL... ebay has it in Australia for about $25. * shaking my head *

Oh well.
This is the PODA:
[ ] continue washing all bedding (this is an every-six-months card and I am proud to say I am following the card today!)
[ ] 15 min * at least * focus in master bedroom, including vacuuming mattress
[ ] 15 min * at least * focus in master bath
[ ] 15 min * at least * focus in den
[ ] pictures downloaded/uploaded/etc from camera and phone to computer & Walmart
[ ] complete the rest of the laundry
[ ] WHB vacuuming
[ ] water plants (which I didn't do on Sunday)
[ ] s/s toilets * daily stuff I haven't got to yet
[ ] clean dh's shower (which I skipped last week and is usually a Thurs card, but I should strike while the iron is hot, right?)

So -- I have high hopes and I feel energetic. Maybe I am NOT really lazy... maybe to paraphrase Adam, "it is just this MAN whom thou hast given me." Goodness, having a man underfoot 24/7 can be troublesome. :P

Will try to cuop later w/great news of my progress!
Tomorrow is another day.

you know when you say something or write something and the day turns out exactly that way... that was my day... I had a talk with d brother about uncle and lots of planning spoken about. Lots of family planning even in my own home - end result is clarity - a lot of wow moments but not in a bad way.. more in a learning and move forward type of way. Some easy and some not so easy plans ahead...sometimes in difficult situations learning happens and seeing all that is really important is so enlightening! Clarity is not always easy but so important.

I have been sitting all day with unplanned things... found out I had a hair cut and dye appointment.. (I forgot it was wednesday ;)

:D ), d brother came over and we talked about a lot of things that needed discussing. He is visiting d uncle twice today so I will go tomorrow. d uncle is doing well but the doctors haven't spoken to him yet.. mmm I think that may end up with us telling him the results when we know things as well. I called him this morning and he was doing fine but in pain. Tonight d brother is working with the social worker on his next step - i.e. time in the hospital and after care... my brother and my family do not want me to be his in home full time caretaker. If it was a couple hours and dinner that would be one thing but He will need care to re-coop from this surgery. d uncle also telling me way too much about his personal life but he is staying straightforward which I appreciate. He also is more than grateful and has his sense of humor back and I am enjoying his company. Sometimes I have to use humor to move him from girlfriend conversations as that is more than any niece wants to know. Can't say she wasn't an interesting one...a whole lot of interesting! ;) :D The two of them together... Oh MY..Thank Goodness she is out of the picture.. she dropped him when she realized she wasn't going to get any money from anyone. Can't say life isn't interesting... it gives you lots to talk about!

time to get my act together... I am tired! :D
it is always a joy to be here with you!

To quote Tom Petty, "The waiting is the hardest part."

I am waiting on a deployment. I have been saying for about two weeks that we need a deployment to development, so I can debug things. The way it works now: I create a new calculation in the datacube, I have to check it in WITHOUT OPPORTUNITY FOR TESTING, overnight it is deployed to production, next day I can actually access it to see if it works. If it does NOT work (and are there any perfect programmers?), I have to make changes, check them in (still no opportunity for testing), wait for the overnight deployment, and hope I got it right. If I (or ANYONE) could deploy to development, I could make a change, deploy to development, SEE IF IT WORKS, test and debug until it does, then check the final WORKING version in, then a WORKING version will be deployed overnight to production. Considerable shortening of development time, considerable less annoyance and waiting for the developer. Also, considerable less confusion for the users, who may end up getting non-working calculations by mistake. I am trying a deploy to development, but it has not worked in weeks, why would it now?

It's wet and snowing outside. I am going to take a later than usual (by about 30 minutes) train, so I can make up the last of the time I was delayed in the last snow. Tomorrow is supposed to be more snow. I do NOT want to drive in tomorrow, so I will have to make the train! Shouldn't be a problem, wasn't a problem today.

I have added an item to my list: must wash a LOL tonight, in addition to putting previous LOLs away.

(((Elizabeth))) I don't even understand half of what you are having to deal with, but it sounds frustrating and annoying.

Speaking of not understanding things, we went to see Blackhat last night -- the movie about the computer hacker -- and we were both pretty much completely lost the whole time. BUT -- part of that is b/c (on my part) I had a headache and was freezing to death and falling asleep. Another part of the problem is that that movie is filmed in about fifty shades of grey -- to borrow from an upcoming release. I mean, 90% of it is just DARK and gloomy looking, so much so that sometimes -- lots of times -- you can't even see the actors' faces clearly at all. I could not keep any of the characters straight except for about the main 4, and it was just tiresome to me.

I have made progress -- about 30 min in the bedroom -- but I was beginning to feel a lazy streak coming so I thought I better take a break, drink some water, recharge.
Also ate a coconut popsicle. Lately I just want to eat All The Time!!!

blessed, it sounds like you and your dbro got a lot accomplished with your talk and have good plans in the making for your duncle's care. WTG!

Oh, LadyM... I know about that talking w/the dgd3 pulling your face... LOL...
But you were talking about her watching tv. Oh my goodness... I will be sooo glad when * IF * dgs ever learns to settle down and watch a program, or sit quietly in his seat while his daddy and mommy are singing at the nursing home, or color quietly in church.... Oh. My. Goodness. Right now this child cannot be still for more than 1 minute. I am serious. Last night at the nursing home, he was actually satisfied in his stroller for maybe 20 minutes or so -- but different people were talking to him, he was eating Fruit Loops and a fruit squeeze pouch and drinking juice... and after every song, he'd say "Get down now..." and I would say, "Not yet... be good and I'll let you down in a little bit." After about 20 minutes, I walked him around the halls of the nursing home, w/him in his stroller... and then we went back in the room where they were singing... and * whew * -- it was on. He wanted to sing with them -- and they let him do the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star... and he ran back and forth across the room... and we walked the halls some more... and he would crawl up in a chair and say "sit here." And almost as soon as the words were out of his mouth, he was out of the chair. And of course, the nursing home residents LOVE all of this. This part of the show brings as many smiles as the music itself, LOL.
(((HUGS))) for the plumbing woes, too. I don't know when they are EVER going to get started again on potty training w/dgs. * shaking my head *
(((HUGS))) for the CAR woes, as well! That IS a big problem. We had that happen once, but we were able to use dmil's van. If it happened now, I don't know what we'd do. (Borrow dmom's Corvette, maybe, LOL! ;) )

Oh... ds has been very critical of dmom and me lately. (He laughed about it, just teasing me, but I hope no one else has been offended by my behavior.) He said dmom & I whispered too much during the funeral. :? I did NOT think we did. Beforehand, maybe, when music was quietly playing... but during? I don't think so. The preacher was talking at one time about how he was surprised at her middle name -- he had never known what it was, and it's a little unusual (not really so much though) -- and dmom whispered to me, "I had forgotten that." I just nodded. Another time the preacher was talking about her sewing skills and dmom whispered, "She made her own wedding dress," and I just nodded again. I don't think we behaved embarrassingly. :P
Then today, as we were leaving the (same) church, we spoke to one of dmom's best friends from old church... said good-bye... walked about 10-20 feet... met up w/one of dmom's friends from new church. She was saying how happy they were to have dmom now & I nodded towards old church friend and whispered, "Don't say that too loudly -- I don't think she has told ___ & ___ yet." But I went on to say dmom HAD talked w/her choir director and pastor at old church, etc... etc... talking too much as IS my tendency... and ds said, after we went on our way, "You don't have to make apologies to the NEW church people for Granny going out there..."
* sheesh * But I'm sure dmom has more than explained/apologized herself to everyone about what a tough decision this is for her. I did not just fall out of the sky with this runaway mouth of mine. I definitely inherited it from BOTH parents.

ON THAT SUBJECT... oh. my. goodness. again. Dmom wants to get on Facebook. DS said there is NO TELLING what she will put on there if that happens. My fear too.

(((Kathryn)))

Dee -- I have been meaning to post to you how sorry I was to hear about dgd's latest situation. Amazed at the new guardians and their determination to see this through. This is just a sad, sad situation -- probably completely due to the biological mother's decision to take drugs. People just have no idea how their actions can have such far-reaching consequences... and now this one woman's poor choices have put dgd and at two families in complete chaos... and I'm sure the other sister and her family have had some obstacles to face as well.
Hope your dsonil gets the job he's hoping for.

Waving to Twins... FF... Harmony...

WHERE DOES THE TIME GO??? HOW DO ALL OF YOU MANAGE TO CUOP SO QUICKLY AND RETURN TO YOUR PRODUCTIVE LIVES???
Here I've sat approx. 45 minutes, composing this post...
Just like my run-on conversations at the funeral visitation... * shaking my head *

Oh -- I forgot -- I did take time to read church newsletter, copy and paste pastor's extremely good-for-me article... etc... but still... I definitely need a better BGS. ;)
Back to work!
Tomorrow is another day.

Still waiting ...
I did collect some information from the database so I have a better idea of what I am waiting FOR. If I can just get one full deploy to work, my debug deploys will take about 10 seconds! I have set my alarm for the later bus to catch the later train. Then all my work time will be made up.

I did a 5 second check of the church website. The last Wednesday Night Out info posted was for 12/24. I normally check for and post the menu on Tuesday, but if no one sends it, I can't post it. Sometimes the cook doesn't know what she is making until she goes to the grocery store and finds the sales. I think I will start posting Chef's Choice when I don't get any info.

This is the PROGRESS:
[ /] continue washing all bedding
:D Everything is clean and dry except dust ruffle & sheets... sheets in the dryer, dust ruffle waiting...
[x] 15 min * at least * focus in master bedroom, including vacuuming mattress
:D I've lost track but I think it was more like 30 min. there, focus vacuuming & of course still have to get sheets on the bed
[x] 15 min * at least * focus in master bath
 * whew * 30 there and AAAUUUGHHH!!! I have GOT to come up with a better paper system. This is the ONLY convenient place for me to keep my cards, checklist, EVERYTHING... Bible study books, etc... journal... EVERYTHING. BUT... I also have to share "desk" space w/make-up vanity. Thinking... shelves? I just don't know, but SOMETHING has to change here. All these papers and cards and books end up collecting a LOT of dust, and then it is very hard to vacuum around them. * sheesh *
[ ] 15 min * at least * focus in den
[ ] pictures downloaded/uploaded/etc from camera and phone to computer & Walmart
[ ] complete the rest of the laundry
[/] WHB vacuuming
In progress w/bedroom & bath...
[ ] water plants (which I didn't do on Sunday)
[ ] s/s toilets * daily stuff I haven't got to yet
[x] clean dh's shower
:| Sprayed the cleaner in there... HAD TO take a break b/c I was getting really shaky. Ordered a pizza and ate some cheese and crackers.
:D Editing to say that is done now. It is AMAZING what a difference it has made to take on that shower once a week, doing only the floor and one of the three sides each time. The floor needs it every week, but the sides stay clean looking all the time now. I spray Lysol cleaner and then use the Magic Eraser. It is truly MAGIC.
