Both dds and I have decided that we won't be watching "The Shades of Grey " movie. We haven't read the books either. But guess who has read all 3 books and seen the movie on the opening day, this last Thursday, in her area? If you guessed my dm, you would be right. She thinks the movie is a love story. I haven't seen it, but I wouldn't call it that, from what I have read.

Yesterday dh and I went out of town to his appointment with the ENT specialist. They did several different tests, plus a hearing test. He has minimal hearing loss. They ended up testing him for allergies and he is very allergic to the everything in the air and moderately allergic to the other 2 groups. He is now on a 10 day dose of prednisone. He will be taking OTC allergy pills for life and will start weekly allergy shots on Tuesday. They will mix it specific to his issues. They will give him a shot and then will test him again before we leave. We will have a 10-12 week supply of allergy medicine. Then he will see the dr. again and get a 4 month supply, another appointment, etc. Dd1 will initially give him his shot, I will observe and take it over. Dh and I both want to avoid being dependent on her for the shot. She is so burnt out on being a school nurse. She continually has someone asking her health questions, etc. She told me that she feels like she spends so much time taking care of others, that she neglects herself. The CT scan also showed something, that is below dh's ear but above the jaw. The dr. couldn't feel it but could see it. He wants dh to have a biopsy of that. His office is suppose to schedule the appt. It will be done locally. He said this dr. is superior to anyone in the town he lives in and sends people here for that test.

When I picked up dh's RX, there were 2 trays of 50 each, needles/ syringes. They didn't have the specific epi-pen and ordered it. It will be in Monday.

At some point in the last 20 years dh developed seasonal allergies and took an OTC allergy pill as needed. It started out that he just needed them from late July to late October. 4 years ago, he started needing to take them in April through October. This last fall, about mid September he decided that he didn't need them anymore. By very early October, his ear issues started. Dh told me yesterday that recently he had wondered if it could possibly be allergy related. So after 4 1/2 months of this, we hopefully have the solution.

On the way there yesterday, we stopped in the small town and paid a deposit at the carpet company we are using. They will install the carpet, starting March 4 and should finish sometime March 6. We are anxious to see new carpet on these floors.

I had not talked to dm since last Saturday, until I called her last night to tell her what we found out about dh. I did not mention db2. I think she got the point that I was not happy about the situation, but I won't fight about it with her. She has really laid off her FB posts and comments for the last week.

It is only suppose to be in the 30's tomorrow and will be cool for several days with a small chance for much needed moisture.

Guess I better get ready for bed. I wanted to make some comments and my mind is now mush.

I was so embarrassed, when I purchased the "50 Shades" book in person, at B 'n' N, locally, they needed to put it into a bag, so I'd feel better about it. Honestly, from the standpoint of a writer, it IS poorly written, I've only gotten to chapter 14, and it's NOT my "thing" to do any of that "stuff" either. It's interesting to read though. I can see where the movie would be a boring movie, too, and not very good, IMHO. I'm not going, DH doesn't want to go, and I doubt very, very much if we'll ever even want to see it, even if it is on cable. I'm surprised at how it's taken the world or America by storm, and it "seems" to be the "in thing" to do. I don't "get" it. I really don't. Oh, well. At least it's shown me, what NOT to write and especially what bad writing is. So in that regard, it's good to know, being a writer and all. I'd never write that type of thing, because of my own feelings of self worth, of being a Christian woman, of my respect for myself, for my DH, adult kids and numerous grandchildren. I would feel so bad, if I wrote something like that and my dear little grandchildren read it, the younger ones AND older ones, too. So this granny isn't going to go there, not going to the movie, and might not even ever finish reading these books. It's hard for me to understand how so many are so nuts for this series. I saw it more as Christian Grey's exploiting a young pure woman, IMHO. I didn't care for that approach. I like good strong female characters in novels and movies. This young woman seemed so mousy and too trusting, to me. But if people feel really great about themselves, their relationships and marriages, for having read these novels and seeing the movie, that's their business, and it's just not for me.

Anyway, moving on! We had the most fantastic Valentine's Day today! Oh, my! We are so TIRED, too! We went to Dson/Ddil's for a combination b-day party, for DGD-2 and DGS-6. DGS and I were in the kitchen, all alone, and he said, "I'm SIX!" I said, "I'm 63!" He shouted, "OMG! I CAN HARDLY WAIT UNTIL YOU TURN 64!!!!" It was so funny! What a charmer. The 3 dresses I made DGD-2, all fit, too, except some are looser, so she'll probably be wearing them more toward August. She loved them. And the mothers all stood around, and some knelt, as Ddil put each dress on DGD. They were besides themselves. They were in awe, too. DH told me, here, at home, after we returned, "I sure hope we won't turn DGD into a clothes horse now." I said, "What's wrong with THAT?" (There are worst things in life. She loves pretty things.)

The party had a Valentine's Day theme. Red balloons were on the floor, there were helium balloons, there was a party tent outside in their fenced back yard, and this table, where punch was, was so cute! Ddil had 2 chalk boards, leaning up against the wall, which were on the table with the red punch. Each chalk board had the names of the birthday kids on them, with all their favorite things. DGD's chalk board said all of the words she can now say, too. It was the sweetest thing. ♥ ♥ They also had a "Photo" area, with a tall pub chair or stool, and the party was a "Tutus & Ties" party. They had 1 bowl of Tutus, with DDil made, and 1 bowl of neckties, for the guys. (On tweener boy wore a Tutu, too!) They'd take photos, in the photo booth. They had stickers and tattoos, for the kids. They served taco salads from a crock pot, with beans, hamburgers, and cheese. They had Gold Fish crackers, tortilla chips, veggie trays, and strawberries and pineapple. It was such a neat day! They had about a dozen or 15 adults, and about 20 - 30 kids, ages 18 months up to 18 years old. The noise level was extremely high and energetic, too. I played with the nicest little boy, who was about 11 or 12, with red balloons, by a sort of "balloon volleyball." We just gently volleyed the balloons back and forth to each other. It was almost like yoga with balloons, was slow exercising and so relaxing. I enjoyed being a little girl again.

The traffic was so heavy, on the way up and the way back. I told DH it's sure good we weren't like "some" people, unable to do anything, except go see the "50 shades" movie. I laughed and said, "What do you think Dson would have said to Ddil if we told them, 'no, we can't come. We're going to go see....?" I told them, our Dson and Ddil would "wonder" about us, if we ever did that to them! But we didn't and we saw so many red vehicles today. It was almost as though people went out to buy red cars, trucks, vans, and SUV's for Valentine's Day. It was nice. It was a beautiful and 60* sunny day, with a few clouds. It was a great day, to be had for all, except DD got the stomach flu this a.m. and couldn't come. Since I got home, I've not felt well, wonder if I got a bug the 9th, at the eye M. D.'s office. At least it's a 3-day holiday weekend, I can take it easier, if need be. When we drove off, a huge headache hit me, but it's gone now.
