Good day today. We woke up early in Atlanta, had breakfast and coffee and dispatched dd to help ds load up and head home. Dh and I went to IKEA for an enjoyable walk through and headed home, stopping off at Costco to pick up some things. I was exhausted w too many people by the time we got home, tho. I napped, read the paper and have relaxed. Dd has headed back to Knoxville, dh went to the pool for awhile and ds napped also.

Yesterday was a big day w ds' graduation. We met Z at 1:30 while ds went to get in line, graduation was at 3 pm and we went out for a wonderful nice dinner last night. Z went home to DC today and it was wonderful to have the three of them together.

I think Lucylee asked about dd, she graduates on Thursday. I need to figure out a celebration early dinner option, it looks like all Knoxville nice restaurants are booked up for dinner.

From yesterday - I was so sorry to hear of injuries! Feel better, Harmony and Nancy. Harmony, are you still bruised/discolored?

Twins' Mom, what a happy time for your family. Yes, proud cyber aunts.

Lilac, your family must have so much going on right now with two daughters families in high-school graduation mode!

helia, the new one will only be valuable if it consistently distinguishes between occupations so I certainly hope they have that right. The practicality of college costs has been a topic of interest for a while. The Other College Guide has been offering "Best Bang for the Buck" listings for a while. I think this new one is unique in that it takes data from what it calls "mid-career", which hasn't been done before. Certainly this could be skewed by the greater possibilities of grads changing careers over time, though. Only info from grads who stay in the same career would be valuable to the study. So there are a lot of variables.

So tired after church today I just had to nap. This is not because of a "long day", but because of the social/adrenaline aspect I'm sure. A lot of nerves because of song leading and also just a lot of conversations, a lot to remember.

Dd had talked about going out to buy sketching supplies, but we put it off to tomorrow.

I'll catch up on posts when I can, but until then, Happy Birthday to our Sadie, who has always taught us to do people things first.

My thumb and index finger was enough better that I could get my knitting quota done today. Heels are on the mend too. Got the watering done.

H just got grounded from eating with a tray in the basement keeps dropping stiff like glass with ice no bverage but it scares me hearing a metal cup bouncing down the stairs ack! h made the smart choice to say home this afternoon and recoup.

H got primer and paint for the new arbor tiday when were were down town got white the 1st time the I had to remind him I wanted it black.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SADIE!

Dh and I had a quiet day. Ds#2-J called this morning to say they wouldn't be down. Dgd20 had her last final today and when she was done and home again ds and ddil were taking both dgds out to the beach to relax.

Yesterday dfam#1 came except for ddil-D and dgd17-K, who were out shopping for prom shoes. They were supposed to come after they were done shopping, but never made it -- dgd couldn't find anything she liked till they were in the 9th or 10 store!

((Norma)) I am so sorry about your dson Bob! I just cannot imagine losing one of my dsons!

((Dee)), I'm sorry you were not able to be with dh for his surgery like you wanted to be. But it's good to see that he is doing well and has dfamily there with him! Hope the power point went well this morning.

((Lilac)), I know how stress raises bp and bs #s. I hope you are able to get through this waiting period and dh's surgery without any problems. I'm glad you will be able to stay in contact with our Village while you are away!

((Harmony)), you have been so busy lately; I know I couldn't keep up with all you do. I cringed when I read how you sliced your knee. I hope you are able to heal quickly. ♥

Lucy, I'm glad you and your dfamily had a nice time yesterday.

Twins', congratulations to ds. It was good that you had such a nice weekend with your dfamily and Z.

Nancy, happy to read you are feeling better; yea for the found $$$! Your new path looks really good!

Kathryn, a really nice opening today, I can relate to it also. I sometimes don't post because I think I don't have anything interesting happening. We live a very quiet life, no jobs, not much entertaining except dfamily, and one can do only so much housework! But I think of everyone here and always have well wishes for all!

Talked with dh for a little while about 40 minutes ago. I could tell he wasn't really saying how he was when I asked. Kinda got it out of him. He said someone had told him that the 'block' they use for this type of surgery lasts about 36-48 hours. Which would explain why he didn't have pain yesterday. Obviously he does now. Told him to try a pillow under his knee and to take some a leve, a dvil or something similar. BUT he says he doesn't want to take anything. I'm sure they don't want him trying to grit through the pain, but here I am -1300 miles away. So will be praying for him to have a little more comfort.

I didn't nap at all today so hopefully I'll be able to sleep tonight. At least I'm going to try.

Dee, your DH needs to take something for that pain. I'm told that struggling against pain does not help healing. I'm sure you know that. Why are men so stubborn?

Yesterday's mishap: I did not start off working angry. But when we originally moved in and we got the curbing people in, DH had said just across the front and around the hammocks of trees. I said no we had to have plants along the one side and back also; the 4th side has the a/c and a concrete slab for his trailer etc. Well, he said if he put areas along the 1st side and back I'd have to take care of it and I agreed. I did not think it would get so hard doing all this.

I just got annoyed at how hard it was to get that fabric up. I really considered going to the hosp for a couple stitches. I would have if I couldn't stop the blood. It was really a puncture wound, it's right where your knees tend to hit on each other, on the bone at the side. But I was able to get it somewhat stopped and remembered I'd had a tetanus shot about 2 years ago. It will be alright. I peeked under the bandage and it has oozed a little around the steri-strips but is now stopped.

I had flushed it with antibiotic rinse before bandaging. We have a whole bin of stuff like that because of all DH's mishaps and operations! It's a regular hospital around here!

We were both catching up from our busy weeks. I napped on and off all day. I did get the sweeper run and some mopping done and one LOL hung up. I did dishes but there is a stack again which I'll do tomorrow. Even DH slept this afternoon after he got back from getting tomorrow's supplies. I got the garbage gathered up and out for pickup in the morning. It's all progress!

I am packed except for toiletries. I know I am taking a lot but it will be for probably a week. The back will be filled with our stuff so dd1s will have to be on the backseat and floor next to her. I am so glad she is going with us. Dh came upstairs and asked where I was moving. He has an aunt who can pack a wardrobe and 2 pairs of shoes in a small suitcase. It has always amazed me how she can do that.

I mowed early this evening and then took a bath/shower so I could shave my legs and wash my hair.

I have made a list of things to be sure and take or do before we leave in the morning.

I read what they had sent home with us about the surgery. I read it 6 or 7 weeks ago but needed to refresh my memory. Ugh I will be so glad when this is over. I am thinking that dh is sneaking cigarettes again. I went to his garage to get a small ice chest and it smelled like it had recently been smoked in. I guess he will have to live with the consequences. I read that smoking slows down the healing and contributes to scarring.

I am waiting for a load of towels to dry.

Yes Harriet both dds are busy with graduation party plans. Dd1 has done as much as she can before we leave. DD2 is on her own without my help. There will be 2 separate parties because dd1s dd doesn't want to share the spotlight. Dd2 is having her dd18s party the evening of the 15th. Dd1s having her dd18s party at noonish on the 16th. Graduation is that night. They are both serving meals, so that helps me out not having to worry about feeding our out of town guests as many times.

I better get to bed. I am still so happy that I will be connected with all of you while I am gone. It gives me a slice of normalcy.

My clean laundry has been on the church bench (in my front hall) for 6 days - 6 DAYS! my whites have been in the basket for 1 month in my bedroom.
Keeping me honest helps me not pretend that I don't see those items
