Sunday Happy Mother's Day

Lilac, I know what you mean about a funk.

At HD the clerk wished me a Happy Mother's Day. I cried all the way to the car. I have kids and talked to them today, but there are other factors. I miss my own mom (and dh's mom.) I know how much it hurts my dd not to have children and how hard she's trying and seeming to be stymied at every turn. And when our children hurt, we hurt. Then I thought about all the women who are older who never had children (but are wished Happy Mother's Day because people assume they must be mothers) and all those who lost children or are estranged from their children and I got to thinking that wishing someone a Happy Mother's Day is a landmine just waiting to go off. So I cried.

Finished the bookkeeping with 5 hours to spare.

I should tidy up the table so the notes are organized and then go to bed. In the morning I'll do some much needed dusting and vacuuming, assuming I can move without too much pain.

Happy Mother's Day!

It is just about time to turn the lights out for the evening. Dh and I had a very quiet day. Our dinner party for 13 dwindled to just three----dh, ds#2-J and me. Ddil#1-D and dgs9-D were both sick with ear infections yesterday and today so they did not come. Ddil#2-Y has a sore throat, dgd20-K had to work, so they and dgd13-M did not come. Ds#2-J came about 4:30 pm, trimmed the driveway and mowed the front yard. Dh was going to get KFC for us, but ds said don't fuss, just have pb & j. So we had hot dogs, sauerkraut, tater tots and carrots! So the day wasn't perfect, but I'm happy enough.

I told ds he should be home with his dwife and dfamily, not here cutting grass, but he said he wanted to see us! That was nice! He also brought me a card from him and ddil, and a vase of flowers - mums, daisys, pink carnations and a rose - so pretty!

I also talked with ds#3-T, dgs13-C and dgd17-H. It will be nice to see them soon!
