(((Lady M and family))) and anyone else caught in flood areas.
Mostly packed. Showered but hair is still wet. Have a list of last minute things to go in the suitcase in the morning.
I haven't got enough snacks for myself but did put drinks in the fridge. I need to bring snacks according to the sheet of paper. And a Bible. I have one on my tablet but it won't last all day on a charge, anymore. So I'll pack one.
My bags are getting really heavy. And I forgot I had to bring a chair so it is by the door.
Ds called and finally told me the story of performing CPR. He's not sure but would be surprised it the patient was alive. I figured as much when he mentioned it on the weekend.
He came across an accident on a side street in a suburb of Toronto. The car had left the road, hit a power pole, driven further across grass and hit a tree. People had called 911 and were trying to get the person in the car to respond. The doors were locked.
Ds arrived, grabbed his first aid equipment and ran to the car. He eventually got into it through a broken window beside the dash. (He has a window breaker but didn't want to shower the woman inside with glass.)
Did the ABC (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) on the elderly woman. No pulse, no respiration. Unresponsive. He had someone supporting her neck during this and the paramedics pulled up. He briefed them and they said to help pull her out and to start CPR on their orders while they set up their equipment. He got her breathing spontaneously but then it stopped so he restarted CPR until they shocked her. She left on oxygen and with a pulse but ds wasn't optimistic she'd live.
He got a message from the police today asking if the family can be given his contact details in order to thank him. So he thinks that's a sign that she died. She probably had the coronary while driving so it wasn't the crash that killed her.
He said he was a bit shaky after but not too bad and was able to drive. He's not sure whether this makes him want to be a paramedic more, or less. It is still in the back of his mind as a possible career move.
He told me it was the first time he's handled a dead body. It made doing CPR easier since he realized there was nothing to lose. Actually, it wasn't his first time touching a dead body. He touched my Dad at the funeral home but that's not the same thing.
Anyway, I lost a lot of time this evening while on the phone with him hearing all the details.
I'm going off-line now and may not be back all weekend. I'm basically busy almost every waking hour and not given a lot of time for sleep either. Internet is spotty there.

((Cathy)) I don't know much to tell you except that time will change this. So grateful you have Wayne to help you. Please take it easy.
((Nancy)) sorry it's been a bummer of a day.
((LadyM and community))
There is so much going on for dd the Junior these days. Wow. I raced around yesterday and made that event, carrying the shirt she was supposed to wear. Come home in time for her to work online to sign up for a June event (I had to pay for that). Then today was on the phone trying to find out where/when/how another event will go tomorrow at 4:00 in Big City and what she's supposed to bring (ID items). Tomorrow is also final for Junior Exit. that's done thank goodness. Also tomorrow is a national test. Club after school and it could be the last (therefore important) meeting - don't know. All the time she's supposed to be studying for various finals.
Errands today to bank and P.O.
Phone calls fielded both family and school stuff
Received two deliveries
Helped HRH search for missing papers he needs - found substitutes for the immediate needs

CUE HALLELUJIAH CHORUS LOUD!!!
Payday is tomorrow, there is one bill left for < $50 and it is not overdue. I have set up a future transfer to replace the money I borrowed from savings PLUS AN EXTRA $500!!! And there is more than I expected left to cover the time until the next pay period. I cannot remember when the last time I put money IN the savings account!
I also started the door fix. I have to wait for some glue to dry before I can finish it.
Next up, I am going to determine what still needs to be scanned then go to bed! I promise, I will feed the cats first (their boxes have already been done). I won't get distracted by computer Scrabble either, because I have already played three games then QUIT.
