LEGO Club is over for this week. We had 25 kids which is a good size group for such a small town.

Decided to check in here to see what else I had put on my 6x6 this morning. I still need to file paperwork and write 2 thank you notes.

What I really want to do is put my feet up and sip a cold beverage. However, I'm afraid that if I stop moving, I won't be able to start again. ;)

YEEPS!!! I just found out my coworkers all the way down the hall can hear my phone conversations! I don't know if I am particularly loud or the acoustics are particularly carrying. The person who told me this is THREE OFFICES DOWN!!! At least I wasn't talking about any coworkers. Either the others on the hall don't get many phone calls or they are not as loud as me.

Lynlee, I'm proud of you for making a chance to do this when you can. I hope the whole interfaith event is a big success.

Oh, Kathryn, how I wish I could show that link to my dmother. I wonder if she, receiving her degree in education in the mid-1930s, would have ever seen that multiplication wheel, for instance. I know the whole article would have been fascinating to her. I would not even have known there were colored chalks then, but thinking of it, of course there would have been. I guess the workmen just came by surprise after a day of school and the next day the teachers came in and saw brand new boards. I wonder if any of them regretted that their work was gone. But they must have been used to having no chance to capture much info back then.

Art teacher was embarrassed to have (temporarily) lost the paperwork for dd, and so the morning trip was of less use than it could have been.

LadyM, it is interesting to me, too. So many times I watched dd open her class assignments with disappointment, because again she couldn't be scheduled for art. Once she had to take Oceanography, I remember, because with her required courses, no art class could be scheduled. Finally at senior year she will be able to show there are not so many required classes to take that she couldn't have it. But she had to take the prerequisites rather than be on track with a college-readiness course, and almost felt the ones she could take were not wise uses of time. So I'm grateful she had an advocate.

Dd35's family will come in on Friday for the weekend. I'm sure ds30's family will want to get together. Dd16 just wants to escape because she's felt so trapped into testing and now will be free for just days, before the dorm at college for a week away from home. And immediately the next Mon start work.

Elizabeth (((HUGS))) :D  Well, at least now you know. (I think my voice carries too well, also, so I know how you feel.)
I'm still sorta at loss for words re: the chicken ?friend? I'd really be doing some second thinking about how much I get out of this friendship at this point. I know it is hard to let a long time friend go... but sheesh... she seems totally unable to relate to your life as it is in now, and totally out-of-touch with how to relate to anyone, so far as making others comfortable at her home! Personally, I'd just try to distance myself from her and let the x and the other woman have her. But that's just me.

Working. YES -- I can say I have been working! :D
NOT the work I planned today, while dh was out -- remember? I was going to be going through all the embarrassing poems of my teenage years and destroy and declutter. Also hoped to vacuum the house. However... talked to ds earlier, and he said they were doing some serious cleaning at the new house, so I asked if ddil would like any help and he said she might... so I called her and she said, sure, if I didn't mind scrubbing toilets, etc, to come on. So I have spent the last 3 hours or so doing just that. Cleaned 3 toilets while ddil cleaned 1 and 2 bathtubs, and then I vacuumed out all the kitchen cabinets. When the people put in new countertops, they left behind a HUGE mess in the cabinets, so I knew ahead of time that was a chore that needed doing.
Ddil hung shower curtains in ds and dgs's baths and got that all straightened up.
S L O W L Y things are taking shape over there.

I think I am ready to sip a cold beverage; that's for sure.

Rose, I have had that problem of having to log in all the time before. Right now my phone seems to be behaving itself -- but typing that will probably jinx me. ;) Often, however, when traveling I have to log in again. As Kathryn, I think, said, I think being on different wi-fi servers may reset it or something. But it doesn't happen EVERY time I'm away from home, just sometimes.
DH has the same problem w/a comics page that he often reads on the phone when we are traveling. It is supposed to "remember me" for him, too, but at one particular place nearby, it ALWAYS makes him log in again. Other frequently-visited spots, it will remember him.

Kathryn... somebody has to bury those prisoners, you know...

Waving to all!!!

Hi everyone. It has been raining here for a couple of hours and at one point I had to unplug everything because the lightning was so close by.

Most of our packing is done, I just have a few last minute items to put in my carry-on. I will do that in just a little while when I shut off laptop so I can pack it. We took our big cases up to the nearby P ublix market where they have a big upright scale and weighed them --- they were both under the weight limit of 40 lbs. Yea!! Ddil-Y and dgds will be here around noon to take us to airport. We live about 3 miles away. Oh, I still must print out our boarding passes also.

Kathryn, that article and the pictures were very interesting. Whoever drew those pictures was a good artist. My dmom would have been just 8 months old at that time.

Lynlee, I hope you enjoy the seminar with the DL and your visit with your DD.

Elizabeth, you'll have to practice speaking softly!

Guess I better get this computer turned off so I can finish up. It will be a long day for us tomorrow. Ddil-A will pick us up at the airport which is about 3 hours from their home. Can't wait to see them all!

Turns out there was an extreme storm watch when I left so I only biked 4 km. I went out two, thinking the ride was easy and the weather just overcast. Then turned the bike around and discovered dark clouds behind me and a wind! Still managed to make it home long before the rain.

Rain struck an hour later (with thunder storms), then died down so I did walking club from 7 to 7:30. It just started raining hard again.

Dh came back about an hour after my bike ride and said that the acreage ds was looking at was almost all wet due to the beaver dam on it. The road (not driveway - it was a logging road on the property) was under a foot of water in places. The property is overpriced, especially if the Ministry of Natural Resources sees it in this state since they'll then classify the whole thing as wetlands and ds wouldn't be able to build (or sell, which might be the problem these people are having.)

Anyway, ds hasn't eliminated it. He just picked up another 40 hours of shifts so is working hard to earn money for this. He seems to need a goal in order to save money.

Before walking club I finished the proofreading of the final version of the column. I was glad to look over it, there were 7 major errors. I also got thanked for the edits to a letter he'd written which I felt was too cold and business-like. There's a story behind that but I'll have to wait until we are in person to hear it. He's careful about putting somethings into email.

Now I need to settle down and finish my reading for sermon prep. Then bedtime exercises. I haven't done any physio today so those will be painful.

Hi, finally here.

We had some rain this morning and on and off all evening. The good news is maybe that will encourage our too-shaggy grass to produce some seeds so after the seeds mature (they get black and easy to fall off their stems) DH will cut the grass. According to some university website, Bahia grass only lasts 3 years and if you don't reseed, eventually it will die off and the weeds just take over. We see lots of yards around here in this condition. Anyway, this is DH's way of reseeding the lawn, but while it's growing, it's way long and unkempt. I'm surprised the code enforcement guys haven't been around to site us for not cutting. They seem to be the only agency not on our case these days.

Last evening I had a major migraine headache. For the first time in probably a couple years or more. 3 seperate times I was up with the basin tossing my cookies. Sick all night because I kept getting sick right after I'd try a pain killer... and I never really got any into my system. Finally once I was totally emptied out of all food, I managed to get to sleep and felt better in the morning.

Stayed in bed till noon and got up because I had an important phone call and matter to take care of. I've been eating just little bits till I make sure I'm ok and apparently I am. Routines went to pot of course. I did manage to get water bowls frozen for the coolers and DH's dinner in the oven and some dishes washed. Desk is piled up, though I did pass along important stuff from the mail to DH (another agency). Sometimes I feel like giving up!

Tomorrow will be better.

I don't know how RRose does it. I thought a lot about you last night.

((Harmony)) So glad that, at least, is over. Hugs to you. I missed your book question about The End of Dieting until now. It is one year old. At first I didn't think it would be in our libraries like in Twins' but turns out we did get several copies just lately.

Lots of worries about dstepfil today.

Before I forget, I wanted to mention 2 compliment cards made out this week.

Pianist emailed me out of the blue and said "I should thank you every day" for taking on the extra church work, and how I ease her mind and her dh's, an elder.

Then HRH's dcousin called him and said she had struck up a conversation with a lady waiting in line. Turned out this lady has worked for nearly 4 decades for the company whose flagship 200-employee plant HRH managed for 5 years or so before upper management moved it all a couple cities away. She and many others HRH knows still drive to work there. She told cousin that HRH was the best and kindest manager they had in all that time, and "everybody still says so". So that made his day.

I will not be setting an alarm clock tonight. That is fantastic. I could sleep until 6:30 or some other late hour, for all I know. LOL.

(((Harmony))) Definitely praying tomorrow (and tonight!) will be better!

(((Harriet))) So sorry about dfil... and all concerned there... praying for all of you too.

I have a BIG TA-DA for me tonight! I do not recognize myself. ;)
After 3 hours vacuuming and scrubbing toilets at ds's house, I managed to rouse myself up and vacuum the living area of my own house tonight while dh was in the shower! And I s/s the guest bath, too. I am just amazed. This experiment I am trying -- WW(DA)D -- seems to be working. (What Would Daunt Do?) LOL -- she is the one, that is like my ddad and can't sit still. She would definitely devote her day to helping her children get moved and settled into a new home, and then come home and make sure her own house was presentable as well.
Of course, it is very unlikely that she is troubled by too many sentimental, silly keepsake writings from her teen years that need to be decluttered...

I still need to do master bedroom and bath, and zone vacuuming/cleaning, but right now I am just trying to concentrate on daily and weekly routines. I am definitely still struggling with those... exercise is a problem spot... as always, but I keep plugging along. Every little bit helps, right?
