Tuesday on the Run

No toddlerN here today. Went to Joann's got yarn for my cotton project.
I have been to yarn meeting very cold in there ac was on set low br-r. warmed up in hot car. Got lu ch to go saw my yarn buddy friend at the cafe where we get to go items for sup Po er so had a nice visit.

I am a bit achey today not having ear probs today. More water.

I had a short nap and have been puttering around. Was doing well until I had the bright idea to look online at dd's flight. She is still on the ground in Chicago en route to Paris/de Gaulle airport. From there to Amman Jordan and then flight to Aqaba. I know there is at least one other trip participant on this trip on the flight to Amman so perhaps they will meet up. She flies out of Tel Aviv on August 5, to return to ATL the morning of August 6.

I just told ds that I need a "do over" for this week. Need to go see my dsis also, probably on Friday. Oy.

Elizabeth's list reminds me that my car needs servicing - not an oil change but there was something else, and I need a headlight replaced so perhaps should do before Friday trip. BTW, Elizabeth, is your crochet and other handcraft work an "antidote" to the technical work you do? I think the creativity is good for us more technical types.

Helia, I'm also counting on this being a learning experience in many ways. Too easy for me to rush in and be the helicopter mom (and dd is 22!) but she really needs to handle this herself. I predict a huge improvement in her self confidence.

I'm glad that Dee was able to ck in this morning, and that Kathryn was able to check on Dee! I just looked at Facebook and she hasn't posted an update there. Hoping she's resting and healing.

Harriet, what's the story about tomorrow? A banquet and you aren't invited? Tell me again about dd's week? What have I missed while busy with Aunt P?

RR, you must have "shopping fu" going to have been so successful. I am cringing at the thought of walking into a store and trying on a swimsuit. Your physical workouts are amazing to me. I should be so motivated (said in a Jewish mother voice!)

Harmony, you must be exhausted - in addition to your usual workload you are being the adored grandmother who hangs out with grand kids.

I am feeling a little like the Shirley and Laverne sequence where bottles are passing them by on the assembly line, or is it Lucy and Ethel and chocolates? Time just accelerates and I don't seem to get the bonus room together, get the garage cleaned out, get my genealogy sourcing together, or any one of many projects.

I've piddled around long enough on the computer that dd is now in the air. Still feeling weepy.

Drank some diet cranberry & water from soda stream. Had some cherries too feeling better now.

Thought I heard a marching band but couldn't spot it from the balcony. Quickly came to the conclusion it was too windy to be on the balcony so came inside to find papers all over the floor. Dh said things moved in the office (a good 25' and around a corner, through several doors, away.)

Some day, when the wind dies down and it hasn't rained for a few days, I'll clean the balconies which are covered in seeds, pollen and cobwebs. Stepping onto them is an adventure these days!

Dinner was delicious and I got the rest of the pork tenderloins in the freezer. There are leftovers as well as the meal using up the leftover sweet peppers from Sunday, so it was a productive time in the kitchen. And the blinds kept the hot sun off us as we worked.

I tidied as we worked in the kitchen so clean up will now take under 30 minutes. I need to get out for a walk or simply go to bed and restart the week tomorrow, hopefully with more energy. Dh and ds are going hiking shortly after 8.

I'm feeling MUCH better. Still sore from the intense pain and somewhat foggy headed from the strong pain med, but otherwise am fine. My best guess is kidney stone. I already drink 100 oz of water a day (measured each morning) so I don't know how I can improve that. I could give up coffee I guess. But I'm not ready to do that.

DD brought DGD4 to visit me this morning for about an hour. DGD4 spent 99% of the time snuggling in my lap and/or hugging my neck. I asked DD "Did you move?" and she finally told me that she quit her job and is now living about an hour drive away with a guy she recently met. Soooo, if her normal behavior happens DD will be there for about 3 months - July-August-Sept. I expect by my birthday in October will find her in a new relationship and living place My heart hurts for DGD4.

This afternoon I took LO to his 6 month teeth cleaning & dentist checkup. Another great visit. LO has 3 baby teeth that are about to fall out. He should be sporting a snaggle tooth smile in a few days. It is our tradition to get a cold shake after dentist appoint (makes the gums/teeth feel better) so we visited our local favorite drive-in.

FYI - Dee and MT have both posted on FB today. MT and DH are traveling from their home to SDakota (pleasure trip).

Our weather people are saying things like "we aren't trying to panic or scare you, but this is life threatening weather". Ugh. Our area has received 3" of rain in the last 24 hours with another 4-9" predicted in the next 24-48 hours. The flooded roads are crumbling and the repair crews have ran out of signs to warn of unsafe areas. Big holes are developing all along the roadways like big sink holes. We have one of those big holes within 2 blocks of us. And now..............Tropical Storm Bill is sending us more rains headed our way and the weather people are saying even worse flooding than before due to everything being at capacity and totally saturated. This has been an amazing turn around from extreme drought!

LM stay safe and the others in the path of the storms. We've had dinner and I actually read nearly a chapter in a book with pages.
Time to feed the chickens.
Got a bag of yarn scraps from a gal at the meeting will be great for yarn baby hair, doll clothes or diff. colored yar. Baby dolls this will be fun!

Twins', dd is at the summer architecture program at our big city University this week. But we've always known (and explained to professor) that on Wednesday she has a mandatory meeting for her internship. It has morphed into a banquet, and you had to print out an intern ticket (singular) online for admittance. The kids will meet their employers and get the particulars on their schedules, workplace attire, etc. There will be a group photo of all the interns wearing the shirts they were given for this event, so by the time we reach that destination she will have changed shirts somehow.

The crazy thing is that this meeting is very near the university, but held at the time of her professor's scheduled sketching tour of uptown. So I have the odd task of picking her up after she's been uptown a few hours, driving her back to university area, then driving her uptown again to meet the trolley as their group arrives at a new stop, before they later head back to university. To and fro and to and fro.

I'm just the lackey and will only hear about the banquet. I expect to be joining a parade of parents' cars leaving to eat at McDonalds or something. I understand that they can't feed families, plus the kids are supposed to be moving now into the working world and being responsible for themselves. So parents, however necessary for transport, should disappear.

Forgot to say - everyone at the school has a lighter schedule, not just me. Many of our students are Muslim, mostly from KSA, and most of these students are out this session b/c Ramadan squarely overlaps with it.

In case you don't know, KSA = Kingdom of Saudia Arabia. I learned these initials very quickly.

Done:
- jogged - I'm still going at a slightly faster rate!
- made and ate supper w/ dd17
- chatted with dh; it is just morning there. All is well and he has a busy day ahead of him. Dd19 managed to sleep the entire night through. I'm not surprised. . . .
- kitchen is clean; dw is running
- garbage is out at the curb. Recycling is not full so may not go. I haven't decided yet.
- checked on hens; collected 2 eggs
- measured out 1/2 cup of ice cream.

I'm getting ready to veg a bit now.

Oops - forgot to do the kitty litter. I should do that so it can go in the garbage.

Will you need to evacuate?

I don't think so. When everything flooded last month, water rose high enough in our yard to come into one of the rooms so it might get flood water in it again There are 2 other rooms & garage at that same level so they could flood also. But the main part of the house is a raised foundation (3 steps up). I think it is safe from flooding.

DSon is traveling home tonight because DDIL is having surgery (cosmetic) in the morning. I am thankful that DSon will arrive home before the flooding starts.

RR - I suspect our sons live just a few miles from each other. DSon lives in Frisco, but they are in the process of moving. They will be living there for 2 more weeks.

I've been CUOP while monitoring LO bedtime routine. We have been lax on completing it since school is out. Today LO & I both agreed that things work better when we do it.
