(((Twins))) - we love you no matter what your mood!

Finished the service for Sunday except the prayers of the people (that's a pretty big 'except.') I've also printed up my cues for the narrative and am now ready to print those and the full length off and start memorizing.

Discovered the Minion Movie opens tomorrow! Have sent off an over-excited email to my children asking who wants to go with me.

Dh and I are working on the website and FB page for the apartment resident's association. For once I'm wordless. We had our first meeting with some of the group last night. I'll also be a signing authority on the bank account. One person has already left, another is moving at the end of the month and a third will hang around as corporate memory, leaving just 3 newbies (possibly 5 newbies) to keep the group going. Dh and I decided we could do web support and work on creating our 'village' from a large platform than just our floor. Next event is the summer bbq (simple - just book the local guy to come in and do everything except set up the tables and chairs which we apparently own and keep in a locker assigned to the group.) There's the Christmas Party and in between someone has card games and the walking group. I'm adding Halloween treat hand-out in the lobby of my building (now I can advertise it as a group event) and we are looking to see if anyone is interested in a book club.

Will start dinner now. Defrosted the meatloaf leftovers but need to make up veggies to go with them.

(((Twins))) I certainly can relate to a crabby mood, too. I have totally wasted my entire day.

Jumping in where I am. Life has been busy but fun since the beginning of the month with fireworks, picnics, a trip to the fair, & a graduation party. I've been peeking in here from time to time but run out of time to post. After walking before breakfast I did my morning routine, some prep for dinner tonight, & went to a physical therapy appointment. My range of motion is increasing, & shoulder pain is decreasing, which is very encouraging to me. We talked about adding strength training exercises soon to the stretching exercises I'm currently doing at home several times a day. My appointment times are always on different days & at different times which has been challenging. I don't like to start projects when I have to leave the house in the middle of them, & I tend to have a hard time motivating myself to get back to work after leaving the house. Did get sheets & towels washed & bed remade, but not much else.

The fair we went to was huge & in another state. In addition to the crafts & exhibits there was a large building full of handmade quilts for sale. We came so close to buying one in beautiful autumn colors, made entirely of one inch squares. It must have taken so long to make, & it was just exquisite. We didn't buy it because the large border was hunter green, which would not go well in our bedroom. They said it was a design called Around the World. I'll be watching for that design in future.

I did buy a small hand blown glass dove :) with cream colored open wings, & had a nice chat with the artist who made it. Had my first funnel cake in years -- yum! I can't eat a whole one because they are so huge, but dh was in the mood for something sweet so we shared one & I got to indulge :) .

I've been working some in the decluttering areas in the July 30 day challenge. I'll head to that thread after cuop for today.

Waving ~~~~ to everyone!

Lucylee: use your wonderful imagination. Imagine ddil is at your house. What is it that you feel she needs to learn? Get going on that item (i.e. putting away things that need to be put away) and as you work, 'talk' to her, describing what you are doing and how you can make it a habit. Then move onto the next thing. I talk to you SHEs a lot of time when I'm working but other times I imagine different friends are with me, and I describe what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. Explaining things to others is often the best way to do get doing things. I take that a step further and explain it to imaginary people!

Just got off the phone with my senior friend so shall go to the kitchen now and get it cleaned up. Dinner tasted good but now it is time to 'pay' for it by cleaning up.

That's a great idea, Kathryn! Thanks!

I do feel better after pressing restart and getting the s2s/etc part done.

Talked to ddil -- dh wanted to invite them to supper, but they had already eaten and were out shopping or something. She said her first choice on babysitter would be dcousin's gf, and she wanted me to call her, so now we're waiting for her to get back with us tomorrow after she makes sure she's available. *praying* on that one!

Stomach still bothering me, especially after I eat. Next month when I have the cholesterol recheck, I'm going to go ahead and tell them to schedule a colonoscopy I guess. I need to know if this is normal for me or not.

Editing to give a small ta-da!
Decluttered medicine cabinet. Re-organized. Straightened, like with like... I didn't think I could do much here, b/c dh is so OCD, you know, but I didn't bother any of his old or empty bottles, just put them all together, and still had about a dozen bottles of cough meds/etc for myself or ds -- yes, ds has been married and on his own for 5 years. I showed dh a handful of bottles and told him I was throwing them out -- they were ALL over 12 years old!!! ONE WAS PRESCRIBED FOR ME IN 1997!
DH said fine, "but don't do anything crazy. The trash compactor is almost full and that's enough throwing out for this week."
See... it's tough to work around here.

Editing to say, I forgot one bottle of cough med was prescribed to ds in 1986.

Lucylee: keep working. Hide the garbage bags in the guest shower (this of course assumes you have one!) Then take the trash bags to your mother's. Or ds's. Actually, ds's is the place of choice since it will show ddil you are working on your stuff.

Senior friend called to ask me to be with her when she meets with funeral home to rejig her prepaid funeral plans. I'll go because she gets confused, but she knows I don't approve of her paying for anything else (same as her kids which is why she's inviting me, not them.)

Cleaned up the kitchen. The majority of the dishes are in the dishwasher and I'll run it after breakfast in the morning. I hand-washed the things the dishwasher would have failed to get clean.

Needed some steps for today so walked over to the store to return the heating pad I bought that doesn't work. (Amazon reviews already pointed to the fact that a large percentage fail out of the box.) That gave me a purpose for the walk. I like to walk with purpose and sometimes in the evening, going for froyo is the only purpose I can come up with, so this was much better!

Now I shall start an episode of Nashville and do my exercises.

Harriet, thank you for the link about the crayons, etc. I shared it on FB so my kids would see it. One DGD is constantly coloring. That is scary.

I got 2 LOL done and was pleasantly surprised the whites came out sparkling and the color stuff is ok too. I would never have thought it would all come out. There was mud and dirt everywhere!

I can feel lots of muscles in my legs tonight. And all of them are sore. And I am a bit sunburned. But I'm happy for our progress and the fact that we have a semblance of a yard here finally.

Gonna sleep well tonight, I'm sure!

Our trick for trash bags is to put them in the bed of the pickup truck to wait, lucylee - I think you have a pickup, don't you? They are not visible, so far we have never had an animal climb into the truck bed, and if it really doesn't work out to put a bag beside a full can we can take it to a public trash place the next time we travel out. Of course this works out better when it is not hot summer time... ...

Dove, even though there is some frustration, it's great to hear that you are getting more range of motion with the therapy. That would also be called a "Postage Stamp Quilt" because of the consistent size and shape of every 1-inch patchwork square. Sounds like that was a great place to spend time!

Yes, yes, we have a pickup, and we have a guest shower... but none of that works w/Mr. OCD.
If it doesn't fit in the trash compactor bag, it just gets him all stressed out. We have to use our one, county-provided trash can, and more will fit in IT than just the trash compactor bag, but it just gets dh all stressed out on trash day.
If I get carried away with decluttering, the only solution is to take it to a dumpster in town. I think the garbage company has started providing larger dumpsters in each town in the county, but I'm not positive about that. Sometimes the service station down the road has let me dump extra magazines, etc. in theirs.
I promise I have NOT been adding to my neighbors' cans, Harriet! That WASN'T me!!! :D :D :D

Editing for another Ta-Da!
Between 11:00-11:30 pm, I...
:D cleaned dh's shower,
-- the weekly 5 min. cleaning, which I am so glad I learned could take the place of the monthly/seasonally hour or more cleaning, with just as good results. Whereas I used to wait until I literally sometimes needed a putty knife to get the hardened soap scum off the walls, and enough elbow grease that I was completely exhausted when the work was done (I am not proud of this, just telling it like it is) -- now, Mr. Clean has come into my life with his magic scrubbing pads, and I spray a little cleaner on the shower floor and one of the 3 sides. I wait long enough to s/s the toilet, or in tonight's case, take my make-up off, and then Mr. Clean wipes it off in about 5 minutes. Doing one side every week keeps the walls good enough, and doing the floor every week keeps it from getting gross -- the floor is the main place that needs cleaning anyway. As with most everything in my life, it is not PERFECT, but I would not be embarrassed for anyone to have to use my shower now.
:D vacuumed the master bedroom floor, part of the WHB
:D took off my make-up, brushed and flossed, and read some in Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest.

This day has not been a total waste after all. :D
