Thanks for thinking of dmom -- she is doing as well as could be expected. Excuse me if I am repeating myself.
She spent last night in ICU, just as a precaution. Her bp and oxygen were a bit low after surgery, and since she has some pneumonia as well, the doctor wanted to watch her closely to make sure there were no signs she had aspirated during all the throwing up the previous day and a half.
DDIL and I went in and saw her and she talked to us. DDIL correctly predicted she would leave ICU this morning, and she did.
She is back in a room on the floor ddil works on. I went over for a few hours today and her voice is much stronger, nausea is under control, no more throwing up. She is bothered by the nasal (NG) tube they are using to drain any excess bile/acid/whatever from her stomach and intestines, and she is still on oxygen, but she is doing fine according to nurses.
I'm sure she is desperately needing her coffee, btw! She's been on nothing but ice chips since Wed. morning.
Also -- an answered prayer -- when I got there, the case manager had been in to discuss rehab when she is dismissed. Dmom realizes she may need more help than home health provides, so she is willing to try rehab on a week-by-week basis. They are going to try to get her in our local hospital swing bed rehab program, but a facility in Next Town, where the hospital is, is her second choice. That would be perfectly fine with me; I don't mind driving to Next Town as much as needed -- I just don't want to have to worry about her overdoing it and needing me when she is home alone.
All rehab programs around here re-evaluate their patients every 7 days. Dmom will qualify for 21-days but we agreed if she just HATED it, we'd do something else after the first week. If she is comfortable and it is helping her, she can stay another week or two.
I guess THAT was my big question for the day. I told ds last night, I knew God already knew where she was going and who was going to help us take care of her, and I was trying not to worry about it and just wait on Him to tell me.
I had another God-thing moment today, and I'll put that in J&C.
TWINS -- (((HUGS))) Gatorade is always my go-to, along with bananas and peanut butter and crackers, or just crackers if I'm feeling nauseous.
WTG, Dee's dd!!!
Hope your dbro feels better soon, Blessed.
Waving to all!!!
