I am still busy with putting ornaments up on the tree
I tried a ribbon on the tree and I think I like it.
ordered dd older's comforter and it's already on its way.

they have a knitting channel. My girls love them as well.

I ate a late lunch so I probably won't make dinner.

next:
finish putting ornaments on tree,
look at presents and see how I am doing.
wash dog blankets today as I will be doing errands tomorrow.

I told dd younger that it would be easier for me to buy the presents for dd older here instead flying with them from Florida.

The Green machine in the mid 1970's was a low to the ground tricycle. It was too big for DS to reach the peddles so we modified the seat to move it closer to the front and also put blocks of wood on the peddles so his toes could touch.

And Flu A strikes again .... the family that sits in front of us at church just posted they tested positive for Flu A. I am losing count of the number of times we have been exposed to it recently. I wonder if the medical community and scientists will someday determine why some get sick and others don't. I wish I knew why we aren't getting sick so I could keep doing it. .... whatever it is.

A week ago, I was challenging myself & struggling to get 250 steps an hour. Now I'm finding that 1000 steps an hour is doable without much effort. I find myself wondering, is this for real? I am waiting for reality to set in and it to become hard.

I'm home and unloaded but not put away. I got some extra things to take to this cabin this weekend - except for the hosts bringing vegetarian chili on Friday night and going out on Saturday night, and my offer that dh would make omelets for all one morning, no idea about meals. There is a grocery store nearby, this is in Townsend TN - the quiet side of the Smokies.

Errands went well, UPS store, Dunkin' donuts to reward myself with an iced latte, plain, a store at the mall to pick up, back to grocery and then topped off the tank for the car so we'll start with a full tank tomorrow.

I need to get things put away. Refrigerated food to go with us needs to be together in refrigerator, non refrigerated to the table. No idea what dh thinks we should take or when we should leave. I have a package I suspect will come via mail tomorrow, I'd like to be home until the mail runs, perhaps?

And I have 8K steps for today somehow.

Memory throw-backs -
Getting a Barbie when I was 4 or 5, which I still have, sticking out of the papier-mache Santa boot (which I still have) that served as my childhood "stocking" (no mantle in this house, remember, lol). My ddad had thrown away the box because there was no regard then for collectability, lol. She was of the first type - thin but busty, too much makeup, ridiculous toe-pointing, lol. I was surely too young for her - my ddad just didn't know what to buy.

Early apartment with late dh (1976? I think he was sporting his BiCentenial Beard), when he gave me a whole set of Revere Ware, which I still use. Riches. In fact, it cost his whole budget and there was no other gift. There's a photo of me with the big heavy box on my lap early on the morning, and I was in my housecoat, obviously still sleepy. He was excited, bless his heart. He probably thought it would help me be a better cook. Ah, romance.

Putting dd-now-42 into the kitchen sink and telling her to watch for Mommy coming back, and going out to cut a brush pine for our tree with a handsaw. My late dh was working such long hours he had no daylight at home. She was completely obedient and was right there still waving when I pulled it back home, although I had disappeared from view. That was the year we were so poor we wrapped everything in tissue paper and as we put succeeding presents under the tree, the tree dropped sap onto them and stuck them together, ripping the tissue.

HRH begging me for a before-Christmas date for our wedding because he couldn't bear to go through a bachelor Christmas again. I'd had no idea he felt that way, and switched from my more sensible wait-until-Valentine's ideas. It wasn't long before his brother married, too. Dstepson married within a few years! All still together. Three men who had had enough of their bachelor pad.

Observation - many often-told memories have to do with 1) lack of money, and 2) men's surprisingly different takes on what to do than a woman would have.

Apropos of LadyM's story, I remember the year that my dsis and I got doll houses from Santa. Metal and painted, and Santa assembled! Much later learned that ddad and dmom had spent a lot of the night putting them together! Apparently it was quite the production, even for someone mechanical like my father.

I added my step count up there but didn't get it in before Harriet posted. I need some down time now!

Processed the mail, most of it anyway.
Texted dson a check in and he has had the crud and been at home several days.
Got plans firmed up for the next holiday.
Updated my pc.
Blessed I really enjoyed those knitting shows from the pandemic shut down thanks for the reminder.

Dishes are done.
Trash is dumped.

I still have my Jill Doll, forerunner of Barbie. Also still have many of her clothes. Have my Ginny Doll that wet, she showed up before Jill. Also have my Madam Alexander Doll, clothes and all.

When I was first married at 20 we didn’t have much money either. We were in the Navy and stationed in Orlando. We lived in a very small trailer with a purple bathroom. I don’t remember what we gave each other, but I remember we waited till almost Cmas day to buy a tree because they were cheaper. It was a poor lopsided bing but it brought the Cmas spirit into our home.

When I was first divorced and my son was 7, he decided he didn’t want a Cmas tree. It was our first Cmas by ourselves. I convinced we needed something to use so we had a place to put our presents so we ended up decorating my Fica tree. I had little money but was able to buy him a bicycle. Years later knowing how tight money was back then, he asked me where I found the money to buy it.

I told him I saved money a little bit during the previous months and he was amazed I did that. Even though it was the first of many Cmas by ourselves it was a good one. I worked hard to creat memories since I didn’t have much money and still do …

Seems I too have been 'pretty worthless' today. Had dh all set to go for his blood work and Covid tests tomorrow. Dfriend called tonight and said she was quite sure that this wasn't right. I finally did deep research and brought up the dates of his tests and day of his 2nd Cardioversion in October. Ended up she was right and he'll go Monday now. The other thing that we both searched and searched for were his instructions for this procedure, etc. About the time I finally found it again on the computer she found a copy in some info I'd sent him.

Was trying to watch the Lightning/Predators game and kept falling asleep. Been very sleepy all day.
