I am still struggling with focus but the either or game is letting me get things done. even if slow
I chose to fold the blankets first and put hem away over doing the white laundry
then I chose making the meatloaf over emptying the dw (it's in the oven)
Next empty the dw or wash the tips and cookie cutters that I soaked yesterday.
I love seeing patterns of things that I put off.
--------------------------------------
hi d harmony My daughter told me all about the roof and furniture rats that her boss's house had when he first bought it. (Florida as well).
d harmony I am sorry your grapefruit tree died!
yay on setting up your calendar from d lady's link!
-----------------------------------------------
d lady - 4 snakes d lady - poisonous? we get garter snakes - it's usually a sign of a healthy garden around here. It would be different if it were a lot. I get 4 a year now.
I can imagine how the snakes were fed by the mice. it's an either or balance isn't it?
We too are supposed to have teens and in the single digits - lol just in time for my Florida daughter to come home.
I too love a good lentil soup!
-----------------------
hi d Cathy bbq ribs sounds great - we make the sauce from INA Garten cookbook.

feeling a bit cranky.
spoke to d mom again
she was a bit confused but was scared that she knew she was forgetful (so hard for her) - hoping her getting off of Ambien will help her. The doctor thinks it will. She takes it at 3 am even though it's given to her earlier. I feel so bad for her.
emptied the dw
flip flopped laundry
contacted the mice guys. geesh -
filled the dw and turned on
choose between:
finish the tips/cookie cutters or work on the upstairs bathroom and scrub everything down. I don't want to do either

My only real accomplishment today is getting the signs posted through the building (and taking a shower and cutting my toe nails.)
Pretty slim pickings!
The chair order counts too, I suppose.
Now I need to follow up with the order I put in a few nights ago.
Tonight's focus will be wrapping presents.

Starting some additions to go in the smaller crock pot for soup later on I have left over bean and bacon soup
so this will be great with some cooked cabbage I am hoping.
Finished up my stat bike session while the ddog is outside, she hates it when I do that she seems to know it means no walk for her.
Got 5 rows done on the current crochet project.

Thank you for sharing about Indiana's birthday date, Dee.
Yes, thank you, Dove. I sent that on to my children. Ds will especially appreciate it.
The really famous Christmas episode of Andy Griffith was centered around the Sherriff's office rather than the house, during the period when Eleanor Donahue was a regular part of the cast, and introduced the character, Ben. HRH and I have stared at this one because the bulletin board is full of cards, proving our often-repeated point that when we were young, the phrases "season's greetings" and "happy holidays" were beloved sayings and you saw them everywhere.
Today I made millet loaf to see if I wanted to tweak the recipe at all. House smells of sage and garlic. The veggie casserole has been so great for left-overs - I think it tastes better the next day.
But I'm thinking I may need to take an Instant Pot hot dish/meal instead, maybe the one I like that has sweet potatoes in it. The weather is going to turn cold, and the evening of our family get-together will be the coldest night of the year. It looks like the coldest for a while after, too. We will all be looking for warm foods, I think.
In the mail today, a book I ordered for myself. I think I'll put it under the tree with a tag to me, "from Santa", and let everyone wonder.

Hi everyone! Like Kathryn, I am panicking. Huge deadline at work - Friday. Not tomorrow Friday, but Friday, December 9th. See the problem? I found out Thursday, Dec 8th that the requirements I was testing were not actually up to date. There was a whole section I never knew about.
I need a butt lift because mine is frozen off. I am wearing a down jacket and double layer socks. My feet are still cold and the rest of me is only at a barely tolerable temperature. The Season of No Redeeming Value is truly upon us. That would be winter, I love Christmas, even though I still have a lot to do. I got a reprieve on my most complicated crochet project. The family apologized for not being able to see me before they leave the state this Saturday. I suggested a January get-together and everyone is happy. Let them think their gift was waiting. I would like to finish it before traveling, but that may not be possible.
What was I thinking when I agreed to be part of a Christmas card exchange at work? I did get all my church cards done. I know there were more than 80 because I finished off two boxes of 40 and all but 5 of the ones leftover from last year. I don't have to address them all, we have a box at church.
Tonight's essentials: paperwork for my foot MRI tomorrow and finish shore excursion research. I really need to practice guitar too. I may always suck, but I think I am seeing more movement in my permanently messed up finger. My traveling companion friend is in town and I am hoping to meet her for dinner tomorrow. That is why I need to finish up that research. I also need to figure out whether we need any visas, but I can email that to her, it doesn't require decisions.
Blessedw2: mice also like water and warmth.
Harmony: I am with you on the paper calendars. My DayRunner has never run out of batteries, and it is too big to be easily lost. No one wants to steal it either. I am not allowed to bring any personal electronic devices into my workplace.

Elizabeth, yeah so easy to just bring out the pocket calendar. I did just that at the dentist to get the next 2 appointments made. Was able to change them around because they were the same day as a lab visit and the mamogram. Oh yeah, it would have been on the electronic calendar....if I really kept one!
Harriet, I do remember that episode when they have all the food at the jail. And the old curmudgeon who owns the variety store, picking an excuse to be there also.
Now along that vein, I wonder if Mystery knows about the house featured in The Christmas Story. In her city, now designated a historic place and nobody is allowed to change it, the porches, anything. It is for sale! The owner runs a business with it, having bought the properties adjacent for a parking lot, a museum, and a gift shop. He is selling it as a business and if it doesn't sell he will continue to run it. I've seen replicas of the leg lamp at Spencer's Gifts!
I have wrapped a gift to get in the mail, and it JUST occurred to me that I must get something to send another direction. Why did I not think of this before? I will be in a resort shopping place for lunch with our study group tomorrow and will look around when I'm down there.
Ok, time to jump in the shower.

Forgot I had an important zoom meeting tonight. Thankfully, dh had an alarm set so I rushed off the phone call I was on and hooked up my computer to the TV so we could both watch the presentation.
Didn't get the wrapping done, as a result.
I'm off to bed now. Tomorrow is another day and should be quiet. I expect to wake up to 6" of snow with another 4 - 6 to arrive through the day.

One more TaDa to mention this evening was the chore of trying on clothes, especially deciding on the best-looking new top for cold weather events. After purchasing several things that just arrived, I found a forgotten warm top in the closet that I believe I've only worn once.
So, I tried it, too.
HRH said, "I like that better than all those other things you wore out here." (I had only shown him one other that I was trying on. Sigh.) But never mind, it does look good on me and even the observant man thinks so. One thing down.
