Had to look up glass pickle dishes and the first dish that comes up on Et sy is the one I have in my china closet. It has the pressed star pattern and I love it. It's not an everyday useful thing, but I use it when we have a holiday meal and company. It doesn't have to hold pickles, it's the perfect size for a can of cranberry sauce sliced, or stuffed celery and carrot sticks and pickles too! It's one of my favored things because it reminds me of our nice meals growing up when DMom used hers. I also have a round one with 3 sections and that's good for the little pickles and olives and something else. I will never throw mine away or give it up.
The Tupperware one, I remember vividly but I never had one.
Boy, memories!
Kathryn, interesting...I think maybe the child growing up now wants to be the only person getting attention and can't with all the little ones around. My older grandkids loved the babies, played with them etc. But their younger years were not like hers.
I've done all the spreadsheets. Now there's just to proofread a bit and make some notes and type them in the columns. I am making good progress and have most of what I need for taxes done.

Finished up the newsletters and we walked over. It is very warm (low 50's) but wet and dreary. I was glad I had taken my walking sticks and not bothered to put on the rubber ends. While the majority of the sidewalks were clear, there were places where it was very icy.
I'm having trouble staying awake.
Dh is going to watch Avatar tonight so he can enjoy any continuity in the story when he goes to see the new one.
I'll probably watch a movie in the bedroom on my tablet. Or just sleep.

I have gotten the rest of that ent. center unloaded dusted and reloaded.
I purged at least three notebooks half page size.
Found a min planner cover I can use

Yea!
Holiday note book has recipes in it I need to look over.
Dishes are done and drying.
Hydrating now cranberry juice & soda.
Walked the ddog a short one today bc I've had so many trips up and down the stairs today that is most of my exercise.
Got some stuff out of the creativity room also.
Picked up after the dog in the back yard.
I need to boil up eggs for tomorrow.
I still have not journaled.
Got another container of papers tossed.*
Peeled and deviled the eggs.

I'm having to post without cuop but wanted to check in --
DH is anemic, and doctor wanted to do more bloodwork -- to see if it's a slow loss of blood, easily explained by blood thinners, or if he has been losing blood quickly, which would make doctor want to do upper/lower GI. He was also concerned about kidney function and stressed that dh avoid anti-inflammatory meds and cut back on diuretics, if he could do so without gaining weight.
Went to Wmart, they advised I order tires online to get lower price, came home, did so and noooo... lower price is not available unless shipped to MY house, apparently. DH didn't want to try to haul three tires to Wmart, so that little deal cost us $200 more than we thought it would when this day started.
DGD is spending the night and she and ds are eating supper with us. I'm going to get take out now.
And dmom is still in hospital, getting more discouraged and aggravated by the day. Low potassium today.

I never got to my side of the closet. I needed to sort some cross stitch stuff out before I went to "knitting" and when I got home it was time to start supper. Fajitas made with a very small steak because dh prefers steak over chicken.
I didn't get to the corner cabinet either. I might do it tomorrow. I do want to get my side of the closet done tomorrow.

It's so hard, Lucylee, when so many different things seem to attack all at once. Don't ask me how I know this!
I thought I wished Ken and Twin's Dad a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, earlier but I'm not finding that I did. So here's wishing them both a late in the day for a perfectly wonderful day -even if they don't have their presents yet!
Waiting for DS-A and crew to get back from Legoland. Think they close at 8pm and it's 7 so think they should come soon. We fixed Shepherd's pie -a huge one- for dinner. Dsonil had snacked earlier and we said, "Don't say we didn't warn you!" (If he wants dinner he probably best try to get it before the hungry crew descends. Our dgs10 could eat us out of house and home in no time flat. Don't think any of our 5 ever ate the amount he does -and he's definitely not an overweight kid.

I have accomplished everything on my schedule today which gave me a boost of endorphins. I normally would be getting ready to wind down my day but tonight I will be staying up until the kids New Year Eve eve party is over a little after midnight.
DBro and DSis have both called me today to visit. I mentioned us all getting together in the first week of January for a meal and they both
thought that it was a good idea. I will try to get that scheduled soon.
I did all 12 hours of steps today. I have only missed one hour in the past week. That one hour that I missed happened during church service last Sunday. I'm not sure how I can change that. Church service = sitting & staying in one place for an hour.
When i started doing the hourly 250 steps it was a challenge. Now it has become a normal part of my day and it doesn't feel like I must give much effort or focus to accomplish it.
DH and I went to the local hardware store and I came home with a new-to-me garden tool. It is a
Hoe-Cultivator-Combo. I was unsure if it would do what I hoped but was thrilled to discover it is working perfectly. I needed something to get through the 4-6" of compost and bring up the dirt below. This tool is heavy & sharp enough to get through the compost layer and the claw pulls the dirt up. However, after swinging the tool a few dozen times my arm and shoulder muscles are telling me that I need to take it a bit slower. Hopefully after a week or so of using it my muscles will be in better shape.
I need to work on the January calendar. I normally don't do this type of work at night, but I need something to occupy my time.

Happy, Happy Birthday to Ken in Canada and Twins' Dad!
Ken just had a delightful time with family and Twins' Dad is learning new puppydog Milly. All good.
Twins', I started to ask/advise how you would come up with a name decision and I think you've done very well.
LadyM, my dsonil had one of those and used it until the handle sort of broke (not too badly). Dd42 gave it to me this past spring and it was a lot of help as a close hand tool.
We spent a lot of time on end-of-year bills and such, insurance and taxes, that sort of thing.
Exercise this evening was getting back into leg work, so legs were humming. I was close to a full 24-checkmark healthy habit day, so just chose a few additions this evening (for instance, a carrot to munch on like Bugs Bunny watching tv) and got to the perfect mark.

Kathryn, I think my comment did not come out the way I said it in my head, about the older girl. It's probably good that you pay attention to her the way you do. She might need some attention of her own. It's common that little babies and toddlers get an awful lot of attention. And Happy Birthday to Ken.
Twins, I wonder how quickly the doggie will adapt to the new name.
I was bored this evening so I went over all the paperwork and I did find a bunch of changes to make. Not real important things, just some things that will explain some things for the CPA. I will type those up tomorrow. When that's done, all I have to do is wait for the notices from the banks and the government form about SS and Medicare. I think this is about the earliest I've had this done at year's end. Course, we weren't all that busy this year either. I was a bit shocked to see how much $ was used up just keeping the company open. I'm going to have to have this conversation with DH again.
Am I the only one who has Christmas decorations still up?

Our minimal decorations are still up. A few folks still have gifts here to open but are delayed because of exposure to Covid, just waiting until more certain they are all clear. But I usually kept things up until a little bit into the new year, anyway, while people are still out of school/work and are perhaps visiting. And we did nothing "perishable" like real tree/wreaths this year.
lucylee, you have had so much to think about. I hope your dh's situation turns out to be no big deal. Hoping your dmother gets home soon.
I had such a good eating day, but that was with ticking every box so certainly enough calories. Came out to the ktichen from doing my exercises and HRH had made us each a big hot chocolate. As the Rhoda Morganstern character used to say : "This is one of the reasons... .." lol
