"day of assessment" says Mystery Woman - me, too.

blessed, ((you and dh)) are in my thoughts today, several times, and sending up a prayer. Feeling gratitude that he learned about the Covid quickly and got attention. Then rooting for him to get some nourishment soon - frustrating when medical folks take time about that when we are hungry! Then, beyond that, not necessarily a diagnosis yet - they can't find out for a while. Is that right? Hoping for an ordinary diagnosis, downright boring.

Mystery Woman looks especially vivacious today. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Dee, I took that update to J and C.

I'm progressing with the house blessing. Still have to finish dusting and vacuuming the L/D rooms.

I managed to convert the gift card to a membership at the museum and booked tickets for tomorrow using the temporary sign in.

The membership is all digital now so will send dd her copy when that comes. Interestingly, the digital membership card (and the parking pass, also digital) take a while to arrive so I'll be scrambling for the parking pass tomorrow.

Dd forgot people had to eat lunch so now is unsure what she's going to do. She asked to eat in the car but it will be full of car seats so I'm not sure how comfortable that will be. Dgs1.75 and I will eat inside at the cafeteria. I need to come up with a lunch for him. I just realized both dd's kids eat at school so why she won't let them eat inside at the museum is beyond me. I've just sent that question to her. (She texted back: risk/reward and unavoidable at school. Plus her kids don't sit still so will be touching things between bites and wandering around. The fact that a 4 and 6 year old can't sit still for a meal is an example of their bad table manners.)

I'll take dgs6 for 2 nights so that he gets a good visit with us. And we'll pick up dgd in the morning on Thursday so she can be here for the day, giving dd a chance to make dgd's birthday cakes.

OK, I need to vacuum before dinner.

Oh, blessed! (((Big Hugs))) and prayers! I am so sorry!! And I can definitely sympathize with the problem of having someone in a hospital an hour away! Hang in here and know that we are all thinking of you and here for you.

Likewise, Dee! I keep checking to see what is happening at the ER. So nerve-wracking to be away from familiar doctors — but thank goodness you two are together now.

Dh is actually washing the car! We came to the car wash to rinse out air filters in the house, and he’s at least rinsing off the car too.
He still doesn’t feel well though and he is very grumpy.

I ran some errands, have second load of laundry in the washer, and started doing some vacuuming. Also need to iron som khakis for dh.

(((Blessed & DH))) Hoping you get some answers on so many pending health issues.

I made a list of 84 possible outings for family adventures in 2023. It is my plan to schedule one event each month. I don't have high hopes of making this happen every month, but I know it won't happen unless I put some effort into it.

Our tiny town had three families go to Disney World for Christmas this year. The three families didn't go as a group together but traveled separately and stayed in separate places. I thought it was a bit surprising for them all to say the same thing about their experience - they were shocked & disappointed with how rude people were to each other at Disney. Shoving was the most mentioned, they all experienced people cursing in front of their kids and one family experienced their baby stroller being kicked (with a baby in it). I know each of these families very well and they are all super kind and lean toward the timid side so I know they did not put out ugly looks or remarks to cause strangers to treat them so badly.

I have over 8K steps and still have 3 hourly step goals to do and the sunset to watch/walk.

That is a GREAT idea, LadyM! How far away are you planning these outings — I mean, are they day-trips, or weekend stays, or what? I need to do that for summer stuff with dgrands. On our radar — Graceland.

Also, did your friends mention the new systems at Disney — ride reservation policies that are costing more, making things complicated? I’ve read a lot of stuff about those complaints.
I’m so glad we did Disney before Covid. Ddil wants to go again when Dgd is a little older, but I think they will do that without us. Dh is just not up to it anymore.

The list of ideas that I made for outings are a hodgepodge of possibilities. Some would be only a few hours and others would be a few days. i think all of them are within 200 miles of our home so they are all easy travel. Here is a picture of the list. Zooming in will probably be needed if you want to read them. This is my first draft so hopefully it will get refined as we discuss them. I printed this list off and gave it to DH with the request that he mark through any activities that he will not do. I'll have the other family members do that too and then we will see how many remain. Hopefully someone besides me will come up with ideas. I feel like I'm grasping with some of them.

Lucylee…why do you you want to go to Graceland. I live in Memphis for several years and know it well. If you expect to see the place where Elvis lived I will I let you in n a secret. It looks nothing like it did when he lived there.

His head of security and I became very good friends after Elvis died. That as they say is another story. Anyway I never was crazy about Elvis and Dick, the head of security found that very interesting. Long story short, after Elvis died, Priscilla took over Graceland and turned it into what visitors see today. Nothing like when Elvis lived there.

Prior to his death, Graceland inside was painted red with black rod iron handrails everywhere. Dick told me it looked like a run down bordello which is what Elvis wanted. He said there were tvs in most every room which Elvis delighted in shooting them up with his guns. He told me many stories of older Elvis that would make you blush.

However when Elvis was younger, he was very generous. I lived in Memphis not long after Elvis died and many of my friends and people that I worked with all had their own “Elvis” stories. My contemporary friend spoke of wait at Elvis gates at Graceland around midnight waiting to see him come out of his home. It was a very popular thing for teenagers on dates to do.

One of my friends worked at the car dealership that Elvis bought all his cars. One afternoon he was in my friends office on the second floor when he looked out the window and saw a very poorly dressed black woman looking through the car showcase window. He told my friend to go down to talk to the woman and ask her which car she liked the best and the proceeded to buy it for her.

The stripe mall close to where he lived closed down on Christmas Eve so that Elvis could do his shopping there. Every store selected their top sales person and he Wallis go to each store and personally buy something from them… the stories like that go on and on.

Dick said when he went to get married he drove his VW to the chapel and after the ceremony he came out to find his car gone and a brand new Cadillac stood in his place. Dick spent his lifetime after Elvis died promoting the Elvis story and ran the largest Elvis fan club in the world.

Once after we had become very good friends I only asked Dick one question about Elvis and that was why they had lied about how Elvis had died. It was very obvious that Dick was a very intelligent man and I couldn’t understand why he thought, being head of Elvis’ security and living at Graceland why he did that. His answer was Elvis’ stepdad was the one to release the info about Elvis’ death and would not allow the true truth to come out.

And now you know the rest of the story ..

Oh, Rose, I’ve been to Graceland a couple of times, but for some reason, ds has never been, and of course, dgrands have not been.
I know all the bad stories and everything, but it just seems like something every Southerner needs to do, like seeing Gone with the Wind, you know.

Didn’t Priscilla decorate more in tune with what it was when she lived there? I mean, the gold piano and the tv room, those were there when Elvis was alive. And the jungle room is well-documented.

I always thought he died from a heart attack caused by an overdose.

Lucylee… nope just a drug over dose, the heart attack was the coverup.

Not cuop (again) but headed to bed for a much needed night of rest for both of us, hopefully. We are home after a full day in ER. We were in waiting room for about 1 hour and a half. Once they took him to triage it was only a few minutes before he had a bed in a room. From then on things moved swiftly. Had lots and lots of tests, CT scans, urinalysis, x-rays of course and neg Covid. (Just read that Blessed's dh has Covid -praying). Dh was in really bad shape this morning after feeling a little better yesterday. It seems it all boiled down to a critically low potassium level. Obviously caused a number of symptoms. They have doubled his potassium for the next week, plus gave him a few doses in the hospital. He looks and acts like a completely different man tonight. The Dr we had in ER was nothing but phenomenal. Dh has an appointment with his new Primary next Tuesday so we'll see what he says then.

Evidently the antibiotic dh is on for the diverticulitis is working as the scan showed the inflammation gone. Hopefully the extreme pain he'd have in his back was both from the fall he had in December but would be worse with the lowered potassium.
