Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
Well, actually, another niece called DD at school today and evidently DD also reached that breaking point. Said she went in her office at school, shut the door and cried. Can't even explain all that their coming would entail. Of course they want to see us but there's no way any of us are able to mix and entertain company. DD called one niece after she got home and I think maybe we have them convinced to come see us when we can appreciate it. At this point there's absolutely no guarantee that dh won't be in the hospital during much of their stay anyway. If/when he gets this appointment to swallow the camera pill and if it shows (which all his Drs seem to agree it will) that this bleeding is coming from that part of his small intestine then there's no doubt he'll need surgery.

((Dee and ddJ)) Quite right to just make the call that, as nice as visits would be, they can't happen now. I'm glad he got to have a few bites of something he really wanted, even if he didn't "do justice" to their serving size!
Enjoy your evening, Twins'. Is this to do with Int'l Holocaust Remembrance Day? I was reading about that this a.m.
HRH is threatening to order a pizza. Hmmm... .. I think he's a little disappointed in our choices, so that means I need to get a grocery list started.

Very busy day here. We were in and out all day, and suddenly it was time to make supper. We had Shepherd's Pie. It wasn't as good as usual, but it was food, it was hot and it filled us both up.

Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
I have pizza I froze ahead for my dinner 1/2 of one.
Dsis said she was making a pizza for her dinner as well.
I have finishing watching a Net flx. series this afternoon / evening.
Got my exercise goal met.
I do not know if I finished anything but made definite progress on some surfaces so that helps.

Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
I'm feeling like I haven't been getting anything finished, not concluding anything, and certainly not wrapping anything up. It's a stressful feeling, looking around to everything that needs done and that I'm not even starting. I'm feeling stress from that stupid gutter work not done yet and concern about that tree trimming DH is trying to do. Today he went out and got a new chain for his pole saw and he's charging up the 2 batteries. Tomorrow...sigh....Twins' Mom wrote: What are you finishing, bringing to a conclusion, and wrapping up?
I didn't get enough sleep last night and I ended up napping a good part of the afternoon. Makes me feel so unproductive when I do that. I did get myself going and heated up the chicken we had in the refrigerator. We had a big container of cut up veggies and dip, and DH decided he liked the spicy salsa with avocado better so he had that and we finished another container of veggies in the refrigerator. Unusual dinner, but it filled us up and lots of vitamins. I just didn't care, not in the mood to cook.
I did a big sink of dishes and I brought in laundry and put that away.
Mystery, sorry for your kitchen woes. Please watch yourselves around electric plugs / wires. We don't need to hear about any hair-raising mishaps.
Lucylee, how did DH's dr. appointment go?
Kathryn / Harriet, I'm a big fan of sorting things on top of a bed. Nice big surface. Dining room table works too. I've been known to put up a card table, temporarily, clean up the mess and then take it down. I did that in the hallway once and emptied the bathroom closet, then the linen closet, organized both and then took the table back down. As far as your rooms, set them up to accommodate YOU and what you need. Make life easier for you!
Dee, it's reasonable that you would be overwhelmed, your DD too. Family not here has no idea what's been going on day-to-day and how disruptive their visiting would be right now. Can't you just suggest a motel or hotel? I know, we all try to be accommodating to family, but there certainly is a limit.
I have an email to answer, a letter to answer, the big statement to pay, a phone call to make, 3 rooms to clean... and here I sit. Better do something.. one thing I did accomplish today...thought maybe I'd try to get my year-in-a-folder to the CPA since all my notices have arrived. So, before I left for my study today I copied a stack of papers to include, and took it all with me. After study was done I called and asked if I could bring it by. He said yes fine except he has Covid and I could just leave it on the front porch. Oh, my...no it's at the end, I'm ok and working on taxes, so just leave it. I did and saw him come out and grab it as I was pulling away. We waved.. so that is out of the way.

Harriet: in KonMari, you remove a category from any area it exists and pile all the items from that category in one space. There are time this makes obvious sense, for instance gathering all the office supplies from all over the home, my kitchen drawer, the craft drawers, the office and my desk, then keeping only the items that spark joy and putting them where they will be most useful.
Other times, that would be overwhelming, although it is very effective. Both when we moved and then when I did KonMari the second time, I pulled all the books off every bookcase and did the sort of 'sparks joy'/giveaway in another room. But I can see for someone like Cathy simply moving all the books to a single spot to do the sort might an overwhelming task.
In my experience, having the items in another space helped me 'see' them more clearly and it also helped identify duplicates. In my case, coming from a home with 4 levels, I often had duplicates on multiple levels of the house. I still love having a tape measure in each room, so I still have 4, and they were redistributed to logical places and, as all were from my dad or dh's mom or dad, they really do spark joy. On the other hand, I only need one 3-hole punch and 1 single-hole punch. So those duplicates were donated and the single hole punch is in with the craft stuff and the 3-hole in my desk drawer. Dh doesn't need a 3-hole at all but if he did, he can come to my desk.
As for a surface, the residents' association was gifted with a very large folding table (seats 8) and I set that up when I was doing stationery supplies since I had so many. I actually had to set up a sub-category for writing instruments when I did that part of KonMari!

Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
I got the booklets ordered. They are to be delivered on Feb 8 by UPS. I'm not feeling hopeful about this. Yesterday UPS said they were delivery my printer toner today. But it didn't come and I just got an email it will be End of Day Monday (so 3 days late.) I only have 2 days grace with the booklets if UPS isn't delivering on a weekend which is what appears to be the case. Sigh.... Not to mention, the printer really needs toner, it is printing but it objects each and every page.
I haven't been productive this evening.
I'll go get the kitchen cleaned up (that should take under 10 minutes) and then try and find something to do off my computer screen. I slept well last night.

Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
Doctor’s appointment was definitely an answered prayer!!!
Although he DID scare us at first.
Doctor said high potassium is more dangerous than high blood pressure, and if today’s labwork had increased much he would be calling later to send dh to ER, and that he should see kidney specialist.
If we didn’t hear from him tonight, just continue the powder that reduces potassium
Well, an hour or so later he DID call and my heart just sank.
Then he said, Lucy, I just had to tell you, his potassium has dropped and it’s in a normal range. He doesn’t need to see a specialist at this point and he doesn’t need to use that powder. Let’s just check his blood work again in two weeks and make sure we’re on the right track, but it’s looking good right now.
Whew!!! Oh my goodness, dh is so relieved.
Thank you soooo much for all the prayers.

Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts, gals. They did mention a hotel but it would still mean a lot of transporting and their expectations to be with us. And frankly we know that dh is simply not up to any of it. At least with DSs and DDIL & DGS here we know they won't be demanding of dh at all. And who knows what our status will be in another week. I think DD convinced them that if what they want is time with all of us there would be a better time this summer to do that. I get their feeling they should be here for their Uncle, but in reality he surely won't know. Understand their feeling they should be here for dh but he definitely is better off without that extra stress right now. Think dd and I both felt our melt down point today. There was another issue (why not?) that reared its ugly head today as well and we haven't even shared that with dh. Don't plan to if we can avoid it. Thanks for helping me feel better.
Now of course I can't get to sleep. Think dh is having trouble too. He started the night in the recliner and is in our bed now. I know days will get better -just hoping for those to be soon....but into each life some rain must fall. No doubt about that.

Re: Finishing Friday PWYC
Dh is bleeding from his trac and says that every time they suction him he feels weird and then he bleeds. Poor guy!!!
I gave the girls shirts, tee shirts and under things.
sigh I am temporarily exhausted by the up and down of his health; just when he is doing great, then something else happens.
waving to everyone
time to empty the dw.
d dee I am thinking of both of you and praying the iron meds help him! is there a way to put people visiting and staying at your place for now. it's a lot.
my d sis in laws wanted to take me for dinner on Sunday but I told them that I just can't right now. I think there is only so much one person can do especially when a spouse or family member is ill or hurting. There is only so much we can take in during these hard times.
