Dh and I spent some time making sure all 'old' things were out of fridge and the back room fridge. Now it's all in the trash can and out to the curb. Working together we managed to get the job done. We've both been napping off and on today. He was tired after getting the well pump running again.

He did talk with DS-A for a while this afternoon. Somehow missed his call earlier. I'm sure he was sleeping. DS had promised to call him about DGS10's trip to Nashville to play with the hockey team from Bradenton, FL. Know that last weekend DGS had his 2 go-karts on display at the Amerks hockey game in Rochester. Busy people.

Trying to get some energy going here too, Lucylee, now that I'm home. Need to google "histiocytoma" which is what vet thinks it is - a small benign tumor that happens to be between her toes. Usually resolves itself so we're trying an anti-inflamatory/pain med and an antibiotic first, in case there's infection. And we're going to watch it and can have it taken off surgically if it bothers her and doesn't resolve.

So this has not been a good day for steps. And it's cold out, although sunny. I'm letting her roam the yard. I need to make up the bed and do a few things here, then I'm taking myself upstairs for awhile.

I am trying to figure out how to change the time on the clock radio that dh uses. I've changed it before but cannot remember how.

And I'm thawing and heating some freezer eggplant for me and dh - he bowls tonight and may not even eat any, but I'm hungry.

Back to that clock...

-------------

And I finally got it! It took googling the manual for it but I got it.

Twins - BWTG!

I am enjoying my non-school free time available to do things that I normally can't fit in. I have been watching a Utuber that is influencing me to be adventurous with food prep.

I have repotted 9 of the tomato's plants. It is cold outside so I can't stay out too long because my fingers get too cold to use.

That steak and gravy pie wasn't that great. We won't be buying it again. Dh usually loves everything I cook or make. He only had 1/4 of the meat pie. I in't finish my piece. There was a lot of pepper in the gravy. ...

Dh has requested pasta and pesto for tomorrow night. I'm sure I will need to go buy new pesto.

I had to take a fairly short nap. I think I really need 9 hours of sleep, and I do NOT get that much hardly ever! But when I woke up, I did have a bit more enthusiasm for the day ;) and I have several ta-das now:
* last load of laundry is in the washer
* all three bathrooms s/s
* washed dishes that had been sitting since Sunday (wasn't many, but enough that it was OMM)
* checked plant, but it doesn't need watering (I tend to over-water)
* put on make-up
* went out to eat with dh (Chinese buffet)

Now. While we were eating, dbro texted: "What is the best Mexican restaurant in town?" So I told him, and then after we ate, I called and told him when they finished eating, call me back and they could come over here or we'd come out to dmom's. Depended on what ddil wanted to do after dgrands got haircuts.
WELL. THEN in a few minutes, he called back, said they had changed their minds, dsisil wanted to go to Next Town so she could run by Publix. (They live in a fairly large town in FL, * DEE? * and I suspect there surely must be a Publix nearby... but whatever.) If she needs some specialty grocery item that she cannot survive another 48 hours at my dmom's without... whatever.
DH thinks she just doesn't want to visit with us. :? :roll: Who knows? It really does NOT make any difference to me at all, because, as I said, I'm a little ticked off with them anyway. I just think if you choose to live 12 hours away from your widowed mother, who has had two surgeries in the past year, and you don't have any fear of flying, then there is really no excuse for only visiting your mom for 3 days within 11 months. :evil: At any rate, I have made the attempt to get together.
I have also already told him that I am booked up tomorrow & Thursday, and HE needs to be booked up because both his aunts and his uncle are expecting to see him, and his mother is determined that he go with her to get a tv. If he leaves here without getting her a new tv hooked up and working correctly, I am really going to be upset.

Anyway -- other than frustration with dbro, I am very happy. While trying to organize all this, we were talking to ds, who was watching dgs at ball practice.
DS seemed genuinely impressed with the progress dgs is making. He was playing infield, making some good catches & throws, getting some hits, and the coach even tried him at pitcher. (We all know dgs is not likely to become a pitcher, however.)
Y'all have heard me talk so much about dgs' having some trouble with social skills (although he seems to be very popular, amazingly) -- but he also seems to be a little behind with physical skills, which is not unusual for people on the autism spectrum, I believe. It's like his brain is way ahead of his peers, but his body is a step or two behind. He's not undersized -- in fact, he is getting a little bit on the chubby side. We are hoping for a growth spurt that will go height-wise instead of weight-wise. But he's just always sort of barely gotten by in sports. He loves them, and he's been blessed with good coaches and teammates, but he's never been better than average or maybe slightly below the average player on any of his teams. So it's really nice to see that he's maturing a little in that direction too.

(((HUGS))) for you and your fur-baby, Twins! WTG on setting the clock! I have told dh, if something happens to him, our microwave clock with blink for the rest of eternity. For some reason, I just can NOT set it. DH tells me exactly how to do it, and it never works. He sets all our clocks except the car, and the one that hangs on the wall above the tv. He would set it, but he can't climb up in the chair to do it anymore.

Dee, I know your ds and dgs are having fun. I hope you and Mr. Dee can enjoy the rest of your "alone time" now that the pump is working again.

(((Kimmy))) Hope you feel better soon!

Waving to all!

Outdoors is a non-starter here too, LadyM. I was getting the vacuum cleaner cleaned out, out there, but the wind was a surprise, and I gave up and will have to do it later. That's one chore I will not do indoors.

Kim, I think our pies have all been happenstance, lol, not planned. I hope you feel better!

We had fun with ds' family here. Dd24 was late arriving because of work but still appreciated the pizza. Ds and ddil had thoughtfully brought super nice paper plates and matching napkins, which helped. HRH gave everyone hot wheels cars and had an animal crackers box for ds :) , also a 12- pack of fancy tuna - just things ds likes or liked as a child. Ds...38. My goodness.

I had done a pretty good job on the house before they all arrived. We had surfaces, anyway! Ds will be chaperoning our green-eyed boy's fifth-grade field trip to D.C. next week.

Today I called my oldest girl-cousin, and we had a good chat. It is also her grandson's bday, turning 17, so he had lots of news - age appropriate. At 17 there is always plenty of news.

On a sadder note, HRH's assistant manager from the old bakery plant called to let us know that he has a cancer diagnosis that seems quite concerning. We are going to go and visit him - still arranging what day. He also had kidney difficulties when HRH did, but his treatment wasn't as successful, and he has lost one of his.

HRH and I have done half of our big Desk Day push and have the rest lined up for an evening finish.

Happy birthday to your ds, Harriet! Party sounds like fun! I love HRH's gifts.
Also, I am so sorry to hear about HRH's co-worker/friend. It's good that y'all can visit.

More ta-das:
* Typed and emailed minutes from council meeting last night AND teacher group last MONTH... :oops:
* Finished laundry
* Talked to dmom
-- (DH said I did not make it clear enough how dbro & dsisil had acted; changing their plan IMMEDIATELY after I suggested getting together after they had supper.)

AND -- I have STILL not heard from dbro, although he may have come home hours ago and dmom just told him I had said at 7:30 that it was too late for dgrands, they were tired and needed to get on back home & get ready for bed. Dbro and dsisil were on their way to a restaurant about 2 miles from my house at 5:00 pm... I suggested meeting up later and they IMMEDIATELY decided to go to Next Town for groceries??? and to eat over there, about 30 minutes away... would call when they returned... and at 7:30 pm, I had still heard NOTHING from them.
DH and DS both agree: sounds like they are not interested in seeing us. "Just like Dniece" dh says...

Y'all... I don't really know why these family members are acting like this towards us. I don't think we have done anything to offend them!
In dniece's case, I KNOW we did absolutely nothing. I just shared that I had been exposed to Covid, supposedly, and dniece was paranoid. Then she caught it on the plane.
In dbro's case... I may have talked kinda plain to dbro re: getting dmom a tv before he leaves, so he can hook it up for her. I'm afraid delivery would be by FedEx or something and she'd be back on her own (or ds or I would have to do it.) And it's not just us -- they are here for only 3 days, they arrive at 4:00 a.m., sleep most of the day I'm sure, and then go off to eat out and leave dmom??? (Dbro said she did not want to eat with them. Hmmm... after not seeing them in ELEVEN MONTHS???) DH says, "They don't have Publix and Mexican restaurants in Florida???" I'm just shaking my head.

Anyway. I am very pleased to have this paperwork done. Dbro didn't even tell me when he was coming until he was on his way to the airport. Sigh.
I get tired of being an "only" child when I'm NOT an only child... but in the end, that's on him, and if he is content with spending so little time with his mother and the rest of his family, then so be it. (Talking about not just my little nuclear family, but our aunts, uncle, and cousins, whom he used to be very close to.)

As I left for the hospital, dh called to say I could wait an hour but since I was in the elevator, I headed out anyway and stopped and did two errands and got there 20 minutes early. Then the physiotherapist was 30 minutes late.

And everything got further complicated because dh's roommate had to go into isolation which means he's the one that gets a private room but only after 3.5 hours of still being bunked in with dh (AND dh was not allowed to use the bathroom, they gave him a bottle to pee into.) If he has a virus, it is likely norovirus. I was there when the isolation was declared and while signs went up and a barrier across the door, and everyone was to wear additional PPE, no-one asked for me to leave or for me to gown/glove up. They did, however, make dh return to his room when we stepped out, looking for somewhere else to wait for the physiotherapist.

My word, this is supposed to be the leading Heart place in our country, and while most staff are good to excellent, there's a real problem with procedures, logic, and communication. For instance, I have to be there for 9 the day dh is to be discharged. He's also been told that he's ready to go home but he hasn't been discharged. So I have no idea if I'm to be there tomorrow for 9 or not.

On top of it, I have no idea if dh will be going into isolation at home (between norovirus or if the Covid spreads from the other ward, there's a good chance he'll come home with something) and I have no idea what restrictions will be on me since I obviously can't isolate from him since he needs care and has to be taken for walks 2x per day (unless we are locked in the apartment like last time.)

So, I'm still in a mood.

After leaving dh, I went to Costco, had a hotdog and then did some grocery and other shopping. Bought the grands some rain suits and myself a number of t-shirts although they all have to go back (which I'll do tomorrow while they are still in stock.) I bought the same ones last year in other colours and bought a smaller size so I need to swap these out.

Got home and napped for over an hour.

Then I got the dining room vacuumed and the kitchen vacuumed. Stopped and had soup for dinner (by then it was 6:30) and then vacuumed the office and mopped the floors. Also rearranged the furniture a bit in the kitchen, trying to make more room. It still didn't work - to have the high-top table so dh can see out means it juts into the eating area (just 7' x 6') making it awkward to have either the kiddie table or the high chair in the remaining space. )

I worked a bit on the dining table but need to go to bed now. I bought cough drops so will have one of those before bed to see if it helps.

Kathryn, unless someone is making you wear a scarlet letter, or putting a padlock on your door, personally, I would do as I please and say nothing. But that’s just me. I’ve had it with all these restrictions.
