Lucylee right now we are having very unseasonable weather in most of Ontario. Today it got up to 28C where I am, which is just over 80F. On a hot, humid day in the summer we have seen temps that "feel like" 40C, which is just over 100F. This week we have been dealing with 2 issues. It's hot outside and people that live in apartments still have the heat on. Kathryn is dealing with that. Landlords can't turn off the heat until the end of April if I recall correctly. I turned off our furnace last week. We are expecting temperatures to drop after this coming weekend.

DD's made flight reservations on D elta to come back Sunday afternoon -she has over a 2-hour layover in Atlanta but should be back in Tampa shortly after 6. Have talked with DS-A, DS-R and DD. DS-A took dh to the Dr. He said he definitely is not the person he saw last Friday. (BTW Dh had $400 in that wad he lost at the post o.ffice. Thank God for honest people). They're giving her $50 as a thank you for returning it. Bless her!

Dr found Dh was very swollen (again) in the groin and his andkles/legs. Took him off the 1/2 pill of Eplerenone he's been taking and doubled his F urosemide (Lasix). I'm trying to pack. Sure Our pastor will be calling me at some point. I'm sure the confusion/disorientation/weakness he's experiencing is because of so much fluid. That's how he was when we took him by ambulance with all that tremendous swelling back in February. DS-A is beside himself with worry.

I have a small load of laundry going right now and the dishwasher is loaded and waiting to be turned on. There aren't any dirty pots or pans tonight. Thanks for being my prep cook today, Costco. (According to Jacques Pepin, you should let your supermarket be your prep cook.)

Weather forecast predicts a 20C drop in temperature for next Tuesday AND snow flurries/rain/snow mix as well.

I read lucylee's post to say that the truck runs but she thought the truck might be embarrassed to drive her dh to ball game parking. I was thinking, poor old truck to be embarrassed it couldn't go nice places anymore. I am barely catching on to lots of things.

Twins', what a good report on your workouts.

Have been out planting a few new plants. Dd43 and dgs13 rode along with me as I drove out to see what we could find. They found more than I did. Metalwork art dinosaurs yard art. Boys all love it. I got extras but only a couple I hoped for. One pot had an additional seedling that had just sprouted growing beside the large plant and I recognize it as the same because I've grown them from seed before, so I potted that up again to grow on. It had cost me 2.99 so I told HRH I was saving him money at 1.50 per plant. He said it was a hardship on him what a spendthrift I am.

Tomorrow an eye appt with specialty dr for me, so they can tell me I'm the same as I've been for 2 years - no chance for the left eye to have further improvement, get any better. Duh. They said that after a week. I don't know why they keep making appts. They don't do eye exams for prescriptions and won't tell you a prescription, so you have to go to a colleague for that. Money must stay within boundaries so they get enough, I guess.

Although I drove all over our community today with dd, chatting all the time and we didn't even think about it, HRH will drive me to the distant and slightly confusing office park tomorrow. It's unfamiliar and a combo of highway and tight traffic, and he's just better with faraway places and varying intersections/ramps.

Well! She says with her hands on her hips... I had a run in with the AI genius my credit card company hired to talk to people on the chat screen. Not very smart, that person. I asked a further question and got the same answer and I asked in a slightly different way and they said I was asking something not in their data base ..... and had me wait for a - get this - an actual person, probably salaried and everything. I had to ask them the same question twice also. Now I'm not a genius who was asking about an Einstein equation... it was if the page as it was written meant I still would be getting a paper statement. That's it. All I needed to know. AI Pfffft. I don't suppose that's ever going away, but I sure wish it would.

So, in the middle of all this computer nonsense today it decided to do an update. Funny looking screen telling me not to shut off the computer. Looked so formidable I cowered in the corner telling it I'm sorry please don't wreck my machine, I'm truly contrite for whatever I did to get this all started. And it didn't run long before it let go of the machine and I was suddenly back to normal. And I come in after dinner and look at the machine looking so cute and obedient and it's doing it AGAIN!. Hey, I said I was sorry....and this time it went quite a while. Finally it let me show it around like it was on a leash and I took it to the update screen I know and trust and ordered it please (asked nicely) to restart so all that it did would be effective. And it listened to me and did as asked and here I am with it working just like it should. Phew!

I am going to my study tomorrow and getting groceries on the way home. Tomorrow will be better. I know for sure, a bot told me.

Lucylee: We were the hottest place in Canada today. Just under 86F, with a feels like temp of 88F.

It was cooler and windier at the Seaway so I was glad I had put my light sweater and windbreaker and dh's windbreaker in the car. And I had a car blanket for TG to put around her. DC had a blanket from their car and ds and dgs2 had good hoodies.

We had a very good time even though no ships went by.

Then the drive home. So I did 140 miles today. (That's another way my life is quite different from, say, LadyM, that seemed like a long drive, for her it will be a regular weekday afternoon!)

The car behaved better on the way home. On the way there, I mentioned the new software (which is now available for us to download) just flashes when it thinks you aren't paying attention instead of alarming as well. This will be a problem for me because I'm holding the wheel and looking out the windshield so don't see the screen flashing. Dh said it didn't alarm now. Then, with me holding the wheel at 9 & 3 and looking out the window, I completely missed the flashing warning and the car beeped to warn me. Without that beep, it would have been a strike and 3 strikes and the car loses access to the self driving features for two weeks, and I believe even cruise control is removed (since it will now be part of the self driving software.) Dh argued that a strike didn't mean anything and is reset when your restart the car. Eventually he found the definitions of the warnings and realized it would be a problem.

I tried hanging my left arm off the wheel on the way home (so not nearly as ready to take over in an emergency) and I only got the warning one time which I saw because my right hand wasn't blocking my view of the screen. So holding onto the wheel with 2 hands and watching where I'm going = bad. Good = just rest one hand on the wheel but don't really hold it. Sigh.... My advise to all y'all is to leave plenty of room around a Tesla when you come across one on the road because you have no idea if it is in self driving mode and if it is, the car has made it so the driver can't be truly ready to take over quickly if the car experiences something the car can't handle.

As for my schedule today, only 13 of 24 slots were completed. I did spend some time on Quicken today getting receipts entered so tomorrow I may only need 3 Quicken slots to get caught up. (Getting caught up on data entry and reconciled to the end of March is required for doing the business year-end bookkeeping.)

One of the slots missed today was Costco. We drove right by one on the way home but were later than I had expected so it was closed. Dh was really tired too, so probably for the best but I will have to go tomorrow. Plus the car needs to go through the car wash as well after coming home at dusk with all the bugs out.

When I got home the apartment was still cooler than outside but airless so we've opened up all the windows. I made some tea after putting away the picnic stuff and sat out on the balcony for almost an hour. It was lovely out there, just the right temperature. It is a clear night and so the stars were visible and the traffic was relatively quiet, so I could enjoy all the lights of the city on the water and let the stress of the drive melt away.

Wow— y’all are warmer in Canada than we are here in the Deep South! We do have a high predicted for 84 Saturday, and again in the 80s next week, but mostly we’ve been in the low 70s. And at tonight’s game, it was so cloudy and windy that I was very glad I brought a jacket.

— I need to put batteries in her label maker and do labels for the 2023 papers…
— and take the 2022 stuff to file in the folders she already has for this tax year. Yes — I was thinking she was missing the deadline but apparently she has filed for an extension?

Question— Medicare statements, insurance, etc. They may have a statement date of 2023, January or February even — but they list charges for care given in 2022.
Which year do they go with?
Same with bank statements.
