Glad to hear you're all safe, LadyM! I just saw a terrible picture on FB from Oklahoma City -- looks like a steel beam through the windshield of a car.
We have always noticed cows during storms -- back when dfil had cows surrounding our house -- and yep, here in the South, the first thing we do when they issue a storm warning is go out on the porch and look around.
It sounds good that your dsil came by and visited for a while. I am also sending my best wishes for this marriage. May God bless them with many happy, healthy years.
BTW -- I am extremely impressed with your cooking and meal prep. WOW. You go, girl!

I took the dgrands home around 4:30-5:00 pm. DGD was ready but DGS didn't want to go home. I was tired of going out to eat, so didn't want to do another meal for them, and tired, period. After I got back home, my dfriend, whose cousin died this morning, called back to return my text. She said yes, it was a heart attack, and it is a problem that runs in their family. Still, of course, they are all in shock. Everyone who knew him is. As a long time business owner here, he knew everyone in town and touched a lot of lives. My dfriend -- whom I was worried about "ghosting" me a week or so ago -- called me to see if I knew what happened. He dated her daughter briefly in high school, and was a good friend of her son also.
I took a little nap after we talked and finally ate supper just now. It wasn't home cooked, but I didn't have to leave the house to get it -- I ate some of the gumbo I bought a few weeks ago and had in the freezer.
*** Freezer seems to be working fine since ddil's dad took out the ice maker!!! *** Hooray for that! ***

We had communion also, Kathryn. Our pastor doesn't follow a lectionary either; I asked her once, and she said she usually just feels something that is placed on her heart. Today, she based her sermon on what our loved ones in Heaven would want to tell us, the importance of following Christ, putting more value on eternal things, not worldly things.

I actually did feel a little more rested this morning, even though I totally wasted my extra hour. Sigh. Did I tell y'all, I just had a meltdown about changing the time on the TV -- that had always been dh's job. DGS took my arm and said, "It's okay, it's okay, I can do it." And he did fine. I also have always depended on dh to do the microwave, but we both have always done it mostly by trial and error. Even dgs couldn't figure it out -- but can y'all believe this -- I had the manual right there in the cabinet with my cookbooks, and I remembered to look for it! TA DA... time change -- done.

I hope your SAD light helps, Kathryn! (((HUGS))) The time change is always hard on my dmom and depressing to her.
I wish we stayed on standard time all the time. There is no reason for it to be light at 9:00 pm, even in the summer (IMHO!) and if we never changed, it wouldn't seem so drastic in November when we switch back. The days would naturally get longer in the summer and shorter in the winter and I think our biological clocks would adjust better. That's just my opinion; I'm not offended when others disagree.

The main problem for me is that I have to remember to get the garbage to the road early on Sundays. If I wait till 5:00 pm, it will be dark soon, and I don't like to walk to the road in the dark. Always scared of coyotes or wild dogs, although I have actually never had a problem with either in my yard, LOL.

Blessed -- good for you on considering boundaries and taking some time to consider what YOU need for yourself. You really stretch yourself thin caring for others, I think, and you need to practice some self-care, too. However, I cannot imagine a situation where you would not be kind! You are always one of the kindest people I can think of!

Twins, the time at the river sounds sooo nice. But I can understand being "peopled" out sometimes too.

Nancy, I think I'm going to get myself a shredder for Christmas and start cleaning out embarrassing journal entries, letters, and sad poetry.
It can be embarrassing to be a frustrated writer.

Hello to Cathy too!!! I almost missed you! How is your dh feeling? How are YOU doing? (((BIG HUGS)))

The idea of visiting on Sundays... "come on home with us..." yes... When I was growing up, that was so common -- mostly visiting family on Sundays. And then, it became a real cycle of guilt and feeling torn between dinlaws and my parents. Good for you in trying NOT to give DD feelings of guilt, Harriet. That is one of the greatest gifts you can EVER give her.
Dmom even mentioned this yesterday, for no particular reason, that Every Sunday, when they passed my dinlaws' house on their way home from church, my dad would complain that "they spend all their time at his parents..." Dmom said she told him that was because my dmil always cooked lunch for us. Ddad would then say, "Well, why don't you start cooking lunch for them?" I always knew this was the way he felt, but still... bad feelings all around. Then when DS came along, it was worse, because he complained that DS spent more time with those grandparents.
It was the same situation however, that my dgrands have now. MY parents were still working and their free time was much more limited than my inlaws' time for ds. So naturally he spent more time with them. I really try to never complain about my dgrands being with ddil's parents, and I try to be considerate of them whenever I can include them. I'm sooo thankful we all do Thanksgiving together, and we all seem to get along very well.
I did ask my dmom if ddad completely forgot that WE ate Sunday lunch with my maternal grandparents 90% of the time! We went to church with them and they lived right next door to the church. I spent my Friday nights and Saturdays with my dad's parents, and Sundays with my mother's parents, and/or my best friend who lived close to church also. A lot of things were just impossible to reason with my dad about and he sorta went through a rough patch during my teen years anyway... basically dropped out of church.
By the time DS came along, he had found his way back and I'd say my parents were pretty happy the last ten years of his life, but we had some rough days there for a while. Of course, if he'd been more "present" in my life, I would NEVER have managed to spend as much time with dh as I did during those last couple years of high school... so God works all things for the good. Even our very stupid mistakes -- mine and my dad's.
Tomorrow is another day.

Harriet yes I think that sounds good to use acrylic yarn to practice with.
I have found really nice mohair type yarn to be very hard to rip out because it is fuzzy.

LucyL. get yourself something fun for yourself for Christmas also.
I wore out a shredder and have used the fire pit a lot for getting rid of pages.

I tried wearing my rings again after getting them reset I took em off to garden this summer but they
do not fit every day some days to loose others too tight. But one necklace that was my younger sister's
I had made into a ring fits well.

I have done my dishes this evening after 6.
I watched a show I enjoyed on n-flx.

Did my crocheting & some writing today.
