LadyM: Whatever you do, do not believe anything about teslas being self driving. They are not. I paid $10K for full self driving. Now, after over a dozen updates, what I have that works isn't the FSD software, but the Autopilot (another mis-named feature) which gives me lane keeping and traffic aware cruise control. It is designed for highways and can navigate as well from on-ramp to off-ramp (whereas FSD can continue driving us once we are off the highway.) Both require driver attentiveness, tracked by either eyeballs or torque on the wheel or a combination of both. It won't work at night if you turn the brightness down on the screen because it seems to need that glow to see my eyeballs.
FSD can, in theory, drive us all the way home from the highway but it has a tendency to choose the wrong lanes (i.e. decide to go around someone driving 'too slow' when half a mile or less from the exit and then miss the exit), go straight through an intersection from a left turn lane, and then there's the whole going through red lights or slamming on the brakes at the last second. It might work on California or Texas dry roads but add in snow or ice and the last thing I want to do is barrel towards a stopped car and only brake in the last 100m. Oh, FSD also decides what speed you should be going so on city streets will happily drive 10 or 20 mph above or below the speed limit and doesn't recognize school zones (or stop for school busses with their lights flashing.)
So, we didn't actually get much more than most high-end cars offer for our $10K.
Ask me if I hate elon mush..... (fun fact, that's one of my passwords for the car and dh kept trying to enter it and it wouldn't work because he was spelling things properly. I refuse to hand out correct spelling or even capitalization for anything tesla because they are improper nouns, not proper nouns.)
Dh was driving me to the blood draw so self-driving car had nothing to do with that comment, I was just planning to use my phone to check in and skip the line. Except I pulled the page up on my phone while we were in our parking lot and in the time it took us to get to the car (about 35 minutes) the wait had grown to 75 minutes and the waitlist was full. Both there and all area clinics. We parked and I went to get out of the car but then realized that if I didn't do it today, the next chance was Tuesday so I had dh drive me to the hospital blood clinic. I was #3 in line and in/out in 15 minutes!
Dh did the Staples run while I was getting the blood draw (so I had a wait for him to come back to pick me up) and then we went to Home Depot. That deletes two errands for him from tomorrow
Dgd's present was at our door when I got home.
I've just finished a big snack and reading 2 more chapters of my book. Now to get to work on bookkeeping,
Dinner tonight is leftover pizza from the freezer.

Thanks for the reminder of what day it is! I definitely am having trouble with keeping days and dates straight right now.
I took DGS to Subway -- I think he would eat there Every Single Day -- and I ate an individual size pizza from the microwave.
I need to s2s -- we have tentative plans to eat with DS tonight. DDIL is working her last scheduled weekend at the local hospital. I hope she will be pleased with the new position and the drive and the 40-hr week, M-F, will not be a hard adjustment for her.
I'm still not very hungry at all, but I have gained a couple pounds back from what I had lost.
Paid dmom's contractor for new septic tank and field lines at her rental house. Man who did that work is interested in buying dh's truck if my cousin doens't want it.
It makes me sad to sell it, but it's silly to keep it. 37 year old truck with 130,000 miles on it. Needs paint, interior work (headliner and seats), ac is fan only, radio is too static-y to listen to... it just has a lot of issues that I suspect will cost me $$$ if I keep it. Someday I'm going to go out there and it won't start.
Still, I get kinda sick at my stomach when I think of selling it.
I have so many things I need to do, but I just want to lie down on the couch and sleep.

I just got up from a 2.5 hour nap !
Yesterday I had my face surgery. Usually the area is removed and the lab checks to make sure that they got everything. Turned out they didn’t so the Dr had remove more the second time. Procedure took 3 hours and I have 7 stitches on the side of my face.
Sweetie was with me on the way home we stopped to get groceries. When we turned into our street the was a man standing in the middle of the road. It was obvious the man was disoriented. Parked our car, got out and talked to the man. Couldn’t tell me his name, nor where he lived. He had no identification on him.
Brought him into the house because we could tell he either had dementia or Alzheimer’s. Offer him water and he told me he was 85, but other than that he making no sense. Called 911 and explained the situation.
They sent a cop. Cop showed up, got out of his car and called the man by name. Second cop shows up same thing happens. Not only did they know his name but the address there he lived! Said they have taken him many times!!!!
That made me sad for the guy and angry at his caretaker. He lives almost a mile from my home and after the cop took him home, my neighbor told me she had seen him wandering around more than an hour before I took him into my home. Cops told me there was nothing they could do about the situation
This morning I went to my coffee gathering and then came home. My house is a mess and it will stay that way till I get my energy back. I’m still not over the effects of my cold and a 2.5 hour nap which I never do is definitely proof of that.

blessed, maybe as your dmother settles into routine, the early morning chats can become a regular thing for you and dh. Dounds like a nice thing to aim for anyway (knowing the best-laid plans... ..).
Mystery, that's what worries me about the crock-pot for dd26 and dsonil. They work very similar day schedules through the week, so it could be a big help. But is it ill advised to leave an appliance alone all day. I'm sure different experts would have different thoughts. If she asks her brother, would he suddenly rattle off statistics to suggest it could be dangerous for potential fires? Other appliances obviously stay on 24-7. Oh well, I hope your supper is delicious, whether slow or quick.
The nurse called about my injection and rescheduled it for 4:00 since they ran late yesterday by a little bit. It must be at 24 hours after the treatment or more to be optimal, plus insurance also monitors this and won't pay for it otherwise.
Afterward, we went to pharmacy 1 and got our 2025 insurance cards info in.
HRH stopped in at an Asian restaurant on the way home so he can have some interesting foods while I eat boringly. They just love him there. Owner came out to shake his hand and ask about me. I don't know how he speaks "restauranteur" so well. He knows inspections, not happier things.
Light went out in kitchen. Dstepson was here anyway, delivering new battery and I was writing him a check for that. He just hopped up on a stool and changed the bulb, so it was out only minutes. Good deal.
(((Ramblin'))) You deserve a break. Your house looks fine. Mine will be on a downhill slide in a few days and I know it, and I intend to wave as it goes. The situation for me will last about 6 days if last time's "schedule" holds true. HRH will give it his best and ask me questions and that's well enough. It will be nice to get back to the work later - something to look forward to. You rest.
blessed, your bravery and wise decisions in getting those cleaning ladies in, to give your home the help needed, is just terrific in my book. You have a mother who needs you, and pets who sometimes don't make it easy, and as much as you don't mention it, we remember your injuries, too.

Dh and I had shakenbake chicken thighs along with a baked yam for him and a baked potato for me. I think I had more chicken than I did potato, which is (hopefully) a good thing as far as having more protein in my diet. I just followed that with a small container of yogurt.

DH and I went for a drive this afternoon. We checked on the hay bale burning situation and it looks like it will burn itself out without intervention. DS16 boss spent the night on the tractor plowing the surrounding pasture so it is dirt without anything to burn.
Noting....the tractor has self driving capabilities that work very well. Not the same situations as cars but still.....if a tractor can self drive why can't they get the cars to be as smart. ***Pout***
(((RR))) and (((Harriet)))) rest well and recover.
The water main has been repaired and the road in front of our home is open again. Thank you were given to Craig & Gary who take care of our town utility systems!
DBro & DSisIL called because they haven't been able to locate a local Dfriend. He usually stops by their home a couple times a week for a visit. He hasn't shown up, isn't answering his phone and isn't at his home. I did a little detective work and found his daughter. She verifited DFriend is okay but just busy. She will have DFriend get in contact with DBro.
DS16 girlfriend is here. IMHO, her parents give too much freedom. I'm not bashful about repeatedly reminding the teens they are too young to be making babies. There are 3 more teens on their way over here to spend the evening watching a show and playing board games. I prefer teen group activities. There is a good chance the 18 sandwiches I made today, the casea of chips and drinks I just purchased yesterday will be gone tomorrow. I'm okay with that.

Hear, hear.
Each successive generation thinks they invented sex. It's very good for teens to hear mature adults tell it like it is without reservation and with a very, VERY knowing gaze.
Early bedtime for me. I've stayed on point with my eating and feel content, if not satisfied. One more day of low calories and then the harsh meds circulating in my system will be dissipating, and no reason to be in this mode anymore, in theory. Tomorrow will be fine with finishing up 2 soups I do like, but not very exciting so I'm glad to move on. I have been planning our Sunday meals! yum

AAAUGUGUGUGHHHH!!!
I just lost a very long and hopeful post. Y'all will just have take my word for it.
The point of it all was that the writer suggests looking at January as a month for PREPARATION.
This really spoke to me because I am overwhelmed -- the tree is still up, along with all my decorations, I feel like I can't even get back into WHB with all this clutter all around, starting Monday I have 4 appointments between the 6th & 15th (3 w/dmom, the biopsy for me), I haven't even begun to fill out my calendars and planner for the year, I'm really battling depression and anxiety, and it's just a hard time for me right now.
So if I can look at January as a time of preparation for the year to come, it takes some of the pressure off.
This message also said to choose 1-5 TINY daily habits and 1-3 weekly habits to reinforce these habits. That parts kinda hard for me, but I'm thinking to begin with, 5 minutes walking. I'd like to do 15 daily, but 5 minutes would be a good start.
And of course, I need to be more consistent with Bible study and prayer time.
LadyM -- I definitely KWYM about teenagers. I thought ds' first girlfriend had too much freedom. SMH.
(((Harriet))) and (((Rose))) -- I'm wishing you both a restful night.
