Hi!

Dh and I are both feeling much better. That being said, I had a long nap yesterday afternoon and again this afternoon. Not unusual, but woke up just before 5 both times. Normally supper is on the table at 5. So the last 2 nights we have eaten later than usual.

I have changed a few things lately. One of those has been shopping locally and buying as many local things as possible. I've also been looking at a lot of FBook pages on gardening. I would like to increase the gardens this spring. Unfortunately I don't think dh is capable of doing the work.

Agreeing with LadyM -- YES --

Each of us are different in many ways but the support is universal. I will be eternally grateful for the understanding, support and patience of this SHE village. ((((Group Hug))))

This is just my opinion, and I'm just thinking aloud, but a separate thread for helia and that group might work well -- if their lists and their habits are different from what we normally do, we (and they) could go "visit" back and forth as we wanted.

More changes in my plans... thank goodness, actually. No ballgame. It was delayed 30 minutes and we were warned to bring extra clothes for the kids because the field would be muddy (which ddil was able to tell me before we even left gymnastics)... then we saw pictures of at least golf ball sized hail about 20 miles west of us... then they cancelled altogether. I was NOT looking forward to being sitting out in the rain, trying to keep the book for the game in ds' absence, and then getting a muddy little girl back home!

So now -- I'm trying 3 more for the day --
* pay tv bill
-- I am very upset -- I have a $7 late fee, and last month's payment was mailed at least 13 days in advance. However they received it ONE DAY LATE. ^&((^&*_(*)%$!@ I'm trying to get this set up for auto pay. I already did that with my new internet, and I pay my cell phone via the app. DH always was leery of auto-pay, "what if they try to take it out and we don't have the money in the checking account?" Sigh. We did rush to the bank sometimes on pay day, back in those early years of marriage, but it's been a long time since I've had to worry about bouncing a check, thank goodness. (I don't think we ever did even in those days!) But I think I can feel confident in letting this come out automatically, or at least paying online from now on. Sheesh. The mail is getting ridiculous.

* fold put away all remaining laundry

* s/s kitchen, empty dishwasher, wash dishes left in sink

* clean bathrooms (right, never did that before I had to leave with dgd)

DS50 and family are off to spend spring break in Croatia. This is their last year of having both kids at home so might be the last family vacation together on spring break.

I am embracing our calm, peaceful home life and am thankful for it. This morning at the hospital a total stranger came up and started talking to me. I could tell she just needed an ear, so I sat and listened. She told about how normal her week started. Monday morning, she was cooking breakfast while her husband was sitting at the table. In an instant their life changed with a heart problem that led to MedFlight and emergency double surgery. Now her life revolves around staying in ICU with husband as he fights for his life. She is trying to process the changes and come to grip with her new reality.

It has been almost 4 weeks of DH not losing his memory. Hopefully it will continue. In the meantime, I try to appreciate each day.

Oh my, LadyM... what a reminder of how quickly life can change.

This week has been so hard for me, marking 11 months without dh, and knowing the one year date is coming up soon. Like the lady at the hospital, I thought that Friday started like any other Friday -- dh felt bad, but he had felt bad a lot of times... I was going to run errands, get dmom's meds to her, go to dgs' ballgame. And then -- everything changed. I'll never forget dgs at the hospital, trying to keep his composure, telling his mother, "I don't think I can play in my game tonight." And then when ddil took them in to tell dh good-bye, dgs said, "It doesn't feel right not to give him a hug," and he hugged him.
DGS (and dgd) never talk about missing dh or anything sad, but we do talk about him often -- "Granddaddy would be so proud to hear this..." "Do you remember Granddaddy always told you..." or "THAT (whatever dgs happens to say/do at the moment) sounds just like your granddaddy..."

Whew.

Well -- I can mark off d*rectv from the nightly list -- I am now enrolled in autopay, and the man on the chat line assured me I would be credited my $7.
I know it's just $7, but it's the principle of the thing. I hate being responsible for the post office's problem!

Went with dh when he went to his physio appointment (Wrist RSI) in order to go to the dollar store and buy decorations for dd's birthday party on Sunday.

Then we went and picked up dh's new computer glasses (the call came at lunch time that they were ready so it was lucky we were out with the car.)

Then car wash and grocery store for 3 items (actually ended up with 5 additional things but 3 of those were in the fruits and veg category!)

Got in and immediately started making up grilled cheese and bacon for dinner because we were starving.

Got 11 (got em!) calls/texts from my sister while we ate. I ignored them all but my wrist gets phone notifications so it was vibrating a lot.

Spent 90 minutes on the phone with her so my evening was shot except for a few emails. I keep forgetting to write up the minutes from Monday's meeting but won't do it tonight. I'll so it first thing in the morning after I hide all the decorations for dd's surprise party since dgd6 is coming over to make a double chocolate cheesecake with me. She can't be relied upon to keep a secret.

LadyM, I meant to say I am so glad LordM has had such a run of good weeks! Praying it continues!

Also praying blessed and dh had a good day with him back home -- and for blessed's dmom!

Happy for those on Spring Break. DGS was quite sure theirs started tomorrow, and DGD had to correct him! That was funny because he is so used to being right. Spring Break here will not be till the last week of the month.

I know you will be so glad to have DangerBoy home for the summer, Harriet! I already dread the day dgs here goes away to college, and he's only in 7th grade! I guess I should be dreading driving, too! LOL... so many milestones ahead. I'm just enjoying him being a kid still, and still an inch or so shorter than me. That won't last long.

Well, what have we learned since my last post?
We have learned that I can't count. I said I'd try 3 more for the day, but I listed 5, and one included 3 parts. Oh well.

* text with dcousin -- loud music from her subdivision coming across my pasture, probably at least 1/2 mile away. She said her neighbor has been doing this all week, teenage girl. I wonder when it quiets down. I can't hear it inside my house but I bet dcousin can. I only noticed it when I returned from ds' house and was admiring the full moon. (And giving thanks that I don't have to teach school tomorrow.)

I've been scrolling on the internet forever. So now I'm looking at
* put sheets on bed
* hang three items of clothing to dry
* empty dishwasher
* sweep kitchen floor
(And yes, it is almost midnight here. As y'all know, that means nothing to me. )
