Back from my 5K jog. Eating more of my lunch.

Dh is traveling to NL to visit his sisters in May. They try to get together in NL every May -- and now I'm starting to feel nervous. Will the border agents let dh back into the US? Dh is a dual citizen. Is that seen as a problem? Is it a problem to border agents if he says he went to visit family? Will his being an immigrant (kinda; he was actually born in the US and his family returned to NL when he was 1yo) mark him despite his US citizenship? He has been to many countries in his lifetime, including Russia (maybe not an issue now?) and China. Is that a liability? Would flying from Amsterdam, known for having a big drug scene, make him more suspicious to border agents?? Ack!! I've got to stop this. . . But the possibilities seem endless because all the usual standards have been upended.

WTG with the floors, laurlind!
I'm not sure which kind they'd want for my mom, trissie. An earlier non-exhaustive online perusal showed me hospital beds from around $800 - $6K or more.
Hi Peaches!
We probably have something like that here, L Ann. The new NH also said Mom could use one of their wheelchairs until she was evaluated by them.
Those scones sound delicious, Gma.

Hello, everyone!

FFB, sea shanties are part of England's very long maritime heritage. The sea shanty is a genre of traditional folk song that was once commonly sung as a work song to accompany rhythmical labour aboard large merchant sailing vessels. The term shanty most accurately refers to a specific style of work song belonging to this historical repertoire.

The sea shanties date from the days of sailing ships, when manipulating heavy sails, by means of ropes, from positions on the deck constituted a large part of a sailor’s work. The leader, or shantyman, chosen for his seamanship rather than his musical talent, stood at the leading position on the rope, while the sailors crouched along the rope behind him. The shantyman would intone a line of a song and the group respond in chorus, heaving on the rope at a given point in the melody. The shantyman was one of the crucial members of the ship’s crew, and it was said that “a good shantyman was worth four extra hands on the rope.” He selected a song of appropriate type and speed for the task, and, by improvising verses, he could spin the song out for as long as needed; shanty texts are thus far more fluid than published versions indicate.

Shanty texts reflect the realities of the sailors’ lives, from bad food to captains’ virtues and flaws and stories of easy women. The tunes were drawn from ballads and other familiar melodies.

Helian, could you ask the NH which make and model of bed your DMum currently uses? Then maybe check with the new NH that they approve this choice? I'm glad her transportation seems to be taking a step forward - I'm going to confess I was appalled when I ead that her current NH thought by it would be a good idea for you to drive her on a 5-6 hour drive on your own. And I'm also going to confess that there first thing I thought of was rest room breaks. I'm so glad Gma is on here to give advice!

There was a group singing sea shanties today, and DH and his friends, and presumably other people joined in during the choruses. Apparently they had a very good time! :D

You got lots done in the garden today, Trissie!

WTG with the ceiling and wall prep, Laura!

Gma, I had to smile at the soap story, although I'm sure it's very different actually having to deal with the situation.

Hi, Peaches!

I got a lot done in my garden today, and went for a lovely walk down by the stream. I managed to time it right and it was early evening, so all the birds were singing. Ive prepped lunch for tomorrow and baked a vanilla cake. DH cooked a very good chilli for supper.

That sounds like a lot of organizing helian. Hope you can get everything together. Soon.

Now I have his ribs cooking and the task of coming up with a way to sauce them with less salt and sugar

The ribs sound yummy, laurlind!
Hi Peaches!
Oh yum, fresh bread at L Ann's! I bet your house smells great.
Kitty, that's an interesting question about Mom's current bed. It is a narrow bed that belongs to the current NH. I'd thought of replacing it before, but Mom said the bed was comfortable. Actually, I don't think it is a hospital bed, but dh thinks it is. . . SO I'm not sure she technically needs a hospital bed? But it seems like it might be helpful. We might get her one even if it's not covered by Medicare.
Kitty, that's interesting about sea shanties.

I'm taking a break from thinking about this stuff over the weekend. I actually slept really well last night! I'll touch base with the social worker at the current NH on Monday.

I haven't done the HW for dh's chapter; instead I went shopping online and ordered a few things from a clothing store I like. LOL! Dinner has been made, eaten, and cleaned up. I brought in some firewood, and dh has made a lovely fire! I've tracked my food, and I did a little duo earlier.

I might just read and relax tonight. Dh's chapter and the GGT project can be done tomorrow afternoon. No CG2 tomorrow!

Next:
- read for a bit
- lists in notebook
- go to bed earlier than last night

Later:
- payroll: GGT - wip
- finish dh's chapter project
- remake guest beds
- work on cleaning fridge?
- read

- printed out the hw for dh's chapter
- clothing order
- helped cook: rice, sauteed bok choy with garlic, turmeric chicken (leftover from the freezer)
- ate dinner with dh
- after dinner clean up
- brought in firewood
- tracked my food for the day
