Re: So many choices this Saturday!!

Oh my, here it is Sunday before I can check in on my Saturday... SMH.
(((Vergers))) Praying for your dd, and your whole family. I can't imagine how hard this is for all of you.
(((Harriet))) I am sorry you had such a rough day. Praying you have a much better day tomorrow!
Cathy, I guess we had a similar parade to watch. I have mixed feelings about all this military stuff. It depresses me because of OG's death. He was very invested in the military, but his death left a lot of questions for all who knew him.
Actually, his best friend/my former ? friend's dad, called me today -- I had sent him a birthday card and he called to thank me. I mentioned him, and the veteran's event I was at when he called, but he did not pick up on that line of conversation.
Sigh. I guess that's a sign that I do not need to be talking about this person.
Waving to ALL of you -- Nancy, blessed, lauralind, kittykat, LadyM, Twins, gma, Paigealle, helia, Bama, * I hope I didn't leave out anyone!
I didn't really have a lot of actual choices today. DS's group was playing at a local Veterans celebration, so of course I wanted to go to that. Oh my. This was supposed to be a big outdoor thing at our local rec center/park, lots of space for a stage, cornhole games, a car show, I don't know what all... and of course, it rained. BIG rain about an hour before the music was to begin... then the sun came out, but of course, the flood had run everyone off. Not much of a crowd at all, but music had been moved indoors and the sound was good and our little crowd enjoyed it. (And as ddil said, it paid the same whether there were a dozen or a hundred people there.)
Afterwards, I went to eat with DS, ddil, dgrands, and ds's band leader, who is spending the night with DS and family tonight. They are leaving about 7:00 a.m for a church service they are playing at tomorrow. I decided I will not go to that. Too early for me, plus, we have this church vote tomorrow -- church wide vote to confirm the pastor's contract which the council voted on last Monday.
Dbil called to ask about that... talked to him a while.
Dmom called; she sounded some better. She was wondering if we were doing anything special at church for Father's Day. I told her no, not really, but that DS wouldn't be there anyway.
Some people find Father's Day very triggering after the death of a husband/father. I guess in a way I am all in my feelings partly about that, missing dh... Thursday was 14 months. And I feel sad for DS, because I am sure the holiday is sad for him. But we never did a big thing for it because dh hated to go out on Sunday afternoons. The guy who is spending the night at ds' house also lost his father a couple years ago, so I guess it's good they will be spending the day together. I got DS a card, and maybe we'll go out for supper tomorrow night.
DGS is spending the night with me tonight and probably tomorrow night.
I worked on my planner for the week while watching TV tonight. I have great plans you know... but I am STILL struggling to find a way to establish some sort of routine for myself and still manage to entertain these dgrands so much. Of course, summer only lasts for about 6 more weeks... and they are growing up sooo fast. In just a few more years, DGD will probably prefer to sleep in and stay home alone while DGS goes to football practice. And of course, in a few more years, DGS will drive himself to football. So -- I haven't had a real routine since... ever... so if I struggle for another six weeks, what's the big deal, LOL?
* I"m NOT giving up... just trying not to beat myself up about what goes undone.
