Besides the pasta salad and the bean salad and the tuna salad that I made 2 sandwiches with, I also made a baked rice pudding. I put more nutmeg in today and it was so good. Dh and I had a bowl each before it was cool, so we added some cold milk on top of the hot pudding. Dh ate half of one of the sandwiches and he also tried some of the pasta salad already.

We are having baked-on-the-bbq potatoes and a small blade steak. I will have to sit outside while I'm cooking it because the fat on a blade steak not only gives it additional flavour, it also drips and then the bbq flares up under the steak, burning the steak. I had forgotten that the last time I bbq-ed a blade steak. Of course, I had also forgotten how good they are because of the extra fat in the middle of the steak.

Cathy - I love reading what you are making. It sounds so good!

The day did not start well but it is turning out to be a day full of blessings.

DH is progressing with symptoms & timing similar to past episodes. His fever has dropped to 99.2F He can operate the TV now (he couldn't do this a few hours ago). He became aware that he didn't have his phone **YES**. I found his phone and he is now playing his favorite way to pass time (solitaire). His nausea has passed and he ate some yogurt and a protein drink.

DS16 bedroom wall has been repaired up to the point of tape/bed/floating and painting. The new window a/c is installed and working. DS16 is going to move back into his bedroom this afternoon. I am thankful for an end to sharing space & bathroom with DS16. I love him to pieces, but I am used to having my own space and not sharing!

Micro is home and the groomer did an outstanding job.

I have been operating outside of my comfort zone by not using my SHE cards for the past 12+ hours. I have almost been in emergency mode, but more like controlled chaos. I don't trust myself to remember all the must-do's that the SHE cards so conveniently remind me. Sooooo, I need to pause and bring the SHE cards up-to-date and see what is falling through the cracks.

I poked through two smallish boxes of photos, have discarded a lot but more I just took a quick look and kept. One of the boxes had a bunch of stuff I've saved over the years and I did a strong purge there - old letters, school stuff...blah blah blah.

Otherwise I've been stalling on doing much of anything. I need to get a bunch of stamping stuff out of this room and I can't decide whether to sell or just give it away. I'm not sure that I want to go to the trouble of actually selling - there are Facebook groups - but most of my stuff wouldn't sell for a lot. I don't know and I'm stuck. Been stuck, for that matter.

Ddog wants to walk but it's "feels like" 105 out there and I just can't do it right now.

mom and I had the sweetest moment - I had taken her out in the garden. We sat in the shade and played with the dogs but that wasn't the moment - When going in, I decided to push her wheelchair past the herbs and flowers. I picked some basil and told her to smell it. Then I gave her a small tomato which she liked, then she smelled thyme and she loved the smell. I picked a piece of lavender and like a child she smelled it in and she said " mmm it smells so good"! She kept smelling it as we walked in. It was such a sweet moment. I am glad that I could give that to her.

she is resting again. she ate. She's clean.
She needs her night time meds but she usually wakes up after an hour. If I offer ice cream then she will be happy to take her meds.

I still have to vacuum the floors and organize things before tomorrow.

yay on knitting d Nancy!
you were very busy - good for you!

d twins good job on your photos! I love the blah, blah, blah work - so funny. well done on your work.
hope you make the decision that feels right for you re: giving away or selling.

hi d lady. glad blessings came your way this afternoon
glad his fever dropped a bit. glad that he was able to use the remote and being able to play solitaire! that's huge! glad his nausea has passed.
so happy your ds can be back in his room
it was a temporary lack of cards - good for you on catching your card file up.

d cathy - you are making me hungry!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

LadyM, so glad today's symptoms seem to be progressing as expected. I'm sorry you have had to be in controlled chaos mode today. Hopeful for you both.

Phone chats today with both dd26 and ddolder.

Ds came by after work right when we happened to get a delivery and he helped me with bringing it in. He's doing some rearranging of his shed so that my tractor can live there for a while. It's going to have a hydraulics filter change and an oil change. HRH bought the parts, etc. We have some mechanical decluttering to get to report in Decluttered Home, too.

We had Thai food for lunch and there was actually still enough for supper, but I find it so full of sodium that I won't have it twice in one day. Just corn on the cob for me with a tomato sandwich. No, sadly, tomatoes are not "July tomatoes" yet, but okay.

It was, blessed. I'm often pleased for you that you get to chat with your dds regularly and be together for some everyday activities. I miss dd26 a lot now that she lives far enough away that a visit here is hard to manaage. When she does come, of course she and dsonil must budget their time between two sets of parents here plus his sister, her siblings. We actually suggested to ddolder that she stop in for lunch since we were ordering, but she was too busy between her work and the boys' activities. She did have extra time around lunch, but a long list of things to do. I look forward to the time I can just visit them - make a pest of myself!

Thinking of LadyM and wondering if she'll be able to post again about this day.

We are happy to be at home. The ER visit was good because all the many test results didn't find anything bad. IYKWIM. We talked to two doctors and they gave us the option of staying in hospital for another MRI and lumbar puncture (spinal tap) tomorrow to continue looking for anything possible. They discuss the pro/con of showing up at a different state big city hospital ER to cut through the wait and gain access to highly trained neurologists. I appreciate the ER doctor's candor and sharing their thoughts. They shared the spinal fluid test might show a clue but that had to be weighed against the possibility of the test causing harm. We opted to stop doing more tests and to come home.
