Accomplishments:
cleaned porch

vacuuming, including move the furniture. Her porch is big - about 20x16 feet - and she has lots of furniture

vacuumed crumbs off the upholstered breakfast chairs

cleared and washed table (dsis2 left several things on it after she was ehre for 3 weeks and returned home. Mostly for the wastebasket)

a few of d little Tutsi's toys (makes me sad) How she loved to play! What should i do with them - right now they are in her toy basket.

Thinking about how Jesus said "I am going to prepare a place for you" which was the Gospel text for a recent funeral, and thinking I am preparing the house for the next sibling who comes to see mother.
Next up is the kitchen

(there's little food here, as no one here to eat)
go through mail that has come since I last filed

gas company came, did initial assessment for "spring" tune-up - in mid July

- then had to request another technician to come, becaus this guy thinks refrigerant is low. It's 90 outside, and I can't get the house to go below 79. AC has been running, running. not good for electricity bill!
Next guy actually can come today - but has an additional 4 hour window allowed, until 8pm.
And Internet guy came also. He cannot install today, as they will have to schedule their boring truck to bore underneath the sidewalk that the city just put in (the sidewalk that I didn't want, that is part of our federal deficit, as it is wasteful spending - duplicating a sidewalk that is across the street. And it's called "safe walks to school" but the sidewalk that has been there for 50 years has a 50 year history of safety, so it's also fraud.)
Enough rant, time to get to washing the floor

make bed in guest bedroom
put away things in mother's bedroom so it is neat, tidy, uncluttered, in case she ever comes to her house.

I'm done for the day, and actually in bed. DH is mostly packed for tomorrow , and only had to ask me about the lock of a couple of things.

Every has been fed, and I have a clean sitting room.

Fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. Dneighbour R2 may fix?
Fix dripping kitchen tap (new washer ?)- DF E has given me the phone number of her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?

Oh, Gma, do you have enough food with you to cover for you while you wait an extra four hours? Utility companies, eh?
You have made good use of your time while you are there.
I think that you need to do a sampler for your mother's house, that says "If you don't clean up after yourself, who do think is going to clean up after you?"

Freed the air conditioner’s hose to drip into tray more efficiently. Need to keep an eye on it now so that it doesn’t overflow.

Mini grooming session with Germane. She fought me every step of the way, but I managed to trip the worst of schnutz away from her eyes and started on her muzzle and one back leg.

Doggedly, you have one more day!
AC tech said refrigerant is not low. It's just hot and takes extra long to cool down in the heat. And city turns off the electricity to the ACs 15-20 minutes every hour to reduce load. They divide city into zones, and rotate who gets electricity to AC. We used to get $10 a month credit for allowing that. Now it has been reduced to $1. Oh well.

Floor is washed.
Make bed is next, then I'm going to the grocery store (senior discount day) and home. The filing and Mother's bedroom will wait until another day.

Yes, Bama, we're on our longer family vacation for the year.

We arrived in Seattle last week Wednesday. We attended a religious conference there with the girls until Saturday and then drove to stay with our son and ddil in Kent, WA for 2 days. Now, we (dh, myself, the 2 girls, ds, ddil, and dgd-due-in-October) are together in Olympic National Park.

Rialto Beach is a beach in Olympic National Park close to our bnb. We are a fairly "outdoorsy" family and have traditionally taken vacations in places where we can go hiking in beautiful nature.

You're getting lots done, Gma. Wow, you've had a lot of different workers come through the house today.
Yeah, Doggedly, I'm with you on beaches. We do not do beach vacations. Dh cannot stay still for that long -- unless he's working -- and he wouldn't take his laptop out onto a sandy beach. Also, we're all so fair that we would burn to a crisp almost immediately. One day sitting at a traditional beach is enough for me. These beaches are for admiring nature - not for swimming. Dh sent me photos of interesting rocks he'd found; they also explored some tidepools.
Sounds like a good day, Kitty. Where is dh going? (I'm sure you said - I've just forgotten.)
Hi Peaches!

I was able to coordinate a dental exam for my mom on Friday while I stayed at the bnb. I was sad to miss the trip to the beach but glad to be able to get that done. It sounds like they had a great time at the beach, but we'll go again.

Currently, dd29 and F are napping. Dh is working; dd27 is doing needlepoint, and ds is working on a book of logic puzzles. I think we will not make it to a 2nd beach today since it is already after 4 pm. LOL! We are low key vacationers. Rest is a big part of it.

It sounds like a nice vacation, however many beaches you make it to, helia.

I am most of the way through the dishes. My air conditioner is doing its best but we have reached the part of the day where the sun is overwhelming it. (My apartment faces west.) I'll take a break before heading to the bathroom for shower and wash bathtub and toilet.

multiple items on mother's bed put away/ hung up
rug vacuumed (dsis2 puppy had brough in quite a bit of dirt)
not irritated that city turns electricity off - we participate in the program willingly. I'm all for conserving energy.
I've been at mother's house for over 11 hours. . I could clean more, but I've done more than enough for 1 day. My fitbit says I have walked 2.5 miles. It's all been housekeeping. My foot is tired. And so is everything else!
Time to load up my car and head home, and think of something for supper, besides water. I'm not really very hungry.
Maybe 'ill have a tuna sandwich!
