Hello, everyone!

L.Ann, I hope you enjoyed your walk with your friend.

Laura, I hope you can enjoy a low key day. Having DS and DDil house sit for you while you're away would probably be a break for them too!

Enjoy the county fair, Helian!

Gma, I'm glad your DF is feeling better. Your window frame sounds very pretty.

Harriet , below is a recipe for traditional cucumber sandwiches. BTW, It's very important to butter the bread, as this helps stop it going soggy!
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyl ... g%20slices.

Dogged, to get black marks off a white table top, you could try ( in order from from least abrasive to most abrasive)
Wiping with a damp cloth (you may have to rub a bit) and then drying / polishing with a towel / microfibre cloth
Spray the damp cloth with a little spray multi surface cleaner (I like Flash Lemon) and rub/wipe as before. Then dry/ polish
Try a magic eraser on the black mark (dampen it first ) then wipe with a towel and microfibre cloth
Cream cleaner on a damp cloth (I usually nise Cif) - rub at the mark and then wipe off before drying /polishing
Cream cleaner on the green side of one of those scrubbies
Don't forget to test in an unobtrusive place first to ensure you won't damage the surface!

I find most marks come off using the first three methods with a little bit of elbow grease. I very rarely have to break out the "big guns".

Hi, Peaches!

Progress has been made in the spare room today. The new desk is in place - fortunately it just needed a wipe with a damp cloth to get rid of the marks, and a spray with silicone in in one area to get rid of a sticky patch (old sellotape residue?)

Dneighbour S very kindly helped DH carry the cupboard up from the garage. I've wiped that inside and out, and DH has manoeuvred it into place. As I suspected, he has more "stuff" than will fit in the cupboard , and suggested storing things like staplers, paper clips, scissors etc on top of the cupboard. Just No! Has he forgotten we have three cats, and Matilda in particular likes to treat everything as a toy? Our vet bills are big enough already!!

I did suggest getting an extra shelf (or two) for the cupboard to maximise the space, and he's agreed that's a good idea and is looking into it.

I haven't been upstairs yet to see how everything in the spare room is looking, as I've only just come in from the garden . There in is a big carrier bag of "stuff" in the middle of the sitting room carpet. I'm hoping that disappears soon.

I prepped lunch for tomorrow and made banana bread, and then went outside and did a little deadheading and fed my pots. Matilda is now asleep on my lap. :D

Big WTG on getting the window done, Gma. I'm glad that you got to rest after that late night last night.

WTG, Peaches and L.Ann.

I have been listening to Circe while I am packing the boxes. To my surprise, I have them packed and everything fitting in the two boxes. I still have to tape them up, print out the return labels and put them on and get them to Purolator. I won't try to get it all done today. I will finish getting the boxes ready to ship and strapped to the hand truck, ready to bring to the car tomorrow. Better progress than I imagined.

Otherwise, list them both for free on Nextdoor
If the desk doesn't survive dismantling (DH is unsure whether some parts are glued) then it goes to the tip. (I hope this doesn't happen but there's no way it will go down the stairs in one piece.)πŸ˜€

Doggedly and kittykat you are doing amazing today. Packing up the work computer and gear I'm guessing. That will gain you some space.

I'm getting priorities done. Let's see. Laundry is stopped for now. I was kinda expecting ds26 to bring laundry but maybe that will be later. Or he found a different way. I want to have my machines empty incase he does. Hence not deciding to take sheets off the bed.

I decluttered a pet bin and found my good cat brush. A ginormous pile of hair brushed out of stella. Decluttered my paint supply bin. Put a few easy things away in the closet and fit it in there. Kitchen clean. Music some just cause. Groceries. Oh and I did weed my garden ⁢

Now my coffee is ready. Waiting for meds to kick in. I did fine shopping but when I got home my body started aching everywhere with headache.

Gonna sit with coffee for a bit and see if I feel better soon.

It looks like a nice easier-going day for you today, L.Ann. Enjoy!

Thanks, Lauralind. It's awesome that you are able to groom your cat like that.

Hi, Peaches

I am glad that you are enjoying yourself, helia. Sounds like a fun day.

Germane and I had such a great walk. I carried her over to the park behind our parking lot, and let her walk in the park. It is so beautiful! Can you believe that it is the first time this year that I walked there? Our world has been shrinking and shrinking, and it shows the need to take a step back from focussing on work and give some attention to other parts of life. The last time I saw the park the fields were still covered in mulch for ground cover and lots of sad little trees had been replanted where they had ripped the original trees out. Now it's all filled in with wild flowers. And it's clear that they culled the trees that weren't making it, and the ones they left are taller than me now. I was thrilled to see some pig weed in among the flowers. There was one patch of pigweed that I used to visit every year since I moved here. It was on the corner f the property where my dentist's office is. Anyway, this year someone noticed it and cleared it out so that was the end of that. Except now it's growing throughout that nice park.
Germane was excited to smell different smells from her normal route. You could see that she was really engaged in checking every scent out. I let her walk as far as the nearest exit back to our street, which isn't too much further than she normally walks, and then carried her back home. So she wasn't using her back legs much more than usual, but had an outing that she really enjoyed.
