I am struggling with consistency, but I have not waved the white flag YET. I have told myself if I can do FIVE MINUTES on whatever (exercise, zone, etc) then I will give myself credit for it. I have not done 5 minutes of exercise today, but -- it's only 20 minutes past midnight; the night is still young.
I left the towel load of laundry in the washer because it JUST finished at the time I needed to go pick up ds and dgd for the ballgame. Then, when I got home, I basically forgot about it, so now I have wet towels in the washer, sheets in a pile on the bed, and pillows currently fluffing in the dryer. I will get the towels in the dryer ASAP. The house stays at 73 degrees, so I don't think I left them too long. (I do remember before I married, dmom's washer and dryer were in the laundry room which was outside, in the garage. One could not leave laundry sitting all day in 90+ temperatures back then!)
I have s/s both toilets. I should take some Windex to the mirrors in the bathrooms.
We won the ballgame -- 20-14. DGS got on the field, for what would have been the last play of the game, but they just let the clock run out. I don't think he cares. He's just proud to be there. He's come sooo far from the preschooler who couldn't really play with others and had a meltdown when he had to transition from one activity to another.
After the game we went to a restaurant they have nearby, Cook out -- which we used to have in Next Town, but which has been "closed for renovations" for over a year, and we have yet to see a single worker doing anything.

They have hamburgers with lots of different toppings to choose from, chili dogs which ds says are the nearest thing to The V arsity in Atlanta that he has ever tasted, and 40 different flavors of milkshakes, which are so thick you probably should eat them with a spoon. Oh -- and they are one of the only places here where you can get Cheerwine. Which is NOT wine in any sense of the word, LOL, but something tells me
Harriet would know that!
After we ate, ds drove ddil home, and I took the dgrands for a tour of my college campus. It has changed a lot in 40 years, that's for sure. And no more live mascots. They used to have two lions but they have both died in recent years and there is ongoing discussion re: whether to replace them or not.
Tomorrow's plan:
* Paint patio chairs and table before it gets excruciatingly hot.
* Color hair.
* THEN -- s2s.
* Vacuum/dust in bathroom and bedroom.
* Favorite food truck will be at Wmart, get there before the 5:00 supper rush.
My dmom and both my dgrandmothers used to can and freeze food. All three had large gardens and their husbands helped with some of the outdoor work, but once it was inside, it was women's work. I never learned to do any of that, (fear of exploding was common with my family, too) and I HATED the heat, bugs, bees, and scratchy vines in the outdoor part. I could shell or break beans without complaint, but that was about it. I never appreciated home-grown vegetables until I married and found out there was a difference!
I am so glad dd14 had a good visit with her counselor,
LadyM! (((HUGS))) and prayers for all of you with all LordM is going through.
Twins -- I've forgotten what I said about dbil. Or maybe you were thinking about
blessed's dbro? That is a situation, for sure. (((
Blessed)))
OH -- and speaking of remotes -- I cannot figure out how to get to certain channels on the Roku tv in the bedroom. DH always watched the Pawn Shop guys on Sunday nights, and I'd like to watch that, but I don't know if I can find them. I haven't tried too hard, because I am either watching the Sunday night news programs, or Daniel Boone. As I told dmom today when we were talking about this, I think the little boy who played Daniel's son was so cute (Darby Hinton) and of course, Fess Parker is pretty easy on the eyes, too. I bet the real Daniel Boone wasn't half as handsome. And from what little I've read, he wasn't half as good a husband.
Harriet, my dmom told me she had spent some more of mine and dbro's inheritance today -- she put down a payment for a new metal roof. Boy... I dread the day when I am forced to replace MY roof. I'll probably have to take out a loan from the bank.
You know, I feel the same about the animal commercials too, and some of the children's commercials and wounded warriors are too emotional for me. I love that little boy's voice on the Shriner's commercial. But I keep thinking, if these charities didn't send out blankets and t-shirts to everyone, they wouldn't need as much money. But I don't mean to sound callous -- I can't imagine what it costs to run a place like St. Jude's, and I believe all of these are very worthy charities. I know personally a few children who have been patients at St. Jude's.
Do you have access stairs or a ladder in the closet,
Harriet? My parents AND both grandparents had only these rather small (IMHO) square holes in the ceiling to access their attics. Needless to say, nothing was stored up there. SMH... I've seen my dad stand on top of the chest freezer and sorta pull himself up and shimmy through that hole. And to consider that my dad and my maternal grandfather were in the construction business in some fashion all their lives... this made no sense at all.
I have pull-down stairs in the study which allow access to my attic, and thank goodness for that, after the leakage I've had around the dormers. (The dormers serve no purpose either, if we're thinking about what makes sense in home building, but I liked the look of them. I still like the look of them, but less so since the leakage and the windows need replacing. Double paned glass which has fogged up.)
(((
Rose))) Ditto what
Twins said. You are in one of the most beautiful places in the country, and you aren't even getting to enjoy it.
Nancy, I will have to try that stretching tip from Twins. Maybe that will help my shoulder as well. I really REALLY do not want to start going to the chiropractor.
Blessed, that's terrible that your helper had to drive so far to get a car. Good that she and your mom could get a nap in.
I talk too much, and the sheets are not putting themselves back on the bed. Better sign off and hope to sleep before daylight this evening!
