Re: Ta Da Tuesday! PWYC

Very few ta-das for me today. I’ve spent way too much time reading online.
DC’s girlfriend crashed out here last night after giving a presentation? Being part of a demonstration? Across town. (It had something to do with a city council meeting —not her city, but she’s part of a local group, I think?) Anyhow, I think her plan was to take the bus home from here this morning, but I dropped her off after taking DC to school. My original thought was to drop DCGF off first, but there was an accident on our route, and DC, of course, was on a deadline. DCGF is quite serious about DC — to the extent that she’s been checking out Mass at the church near her apartment. And she said as much when it was just the two of us in the car. Fortunately, she said she was thinking long-term, because in the short term, we’ve got to drag DC kicking and screaming into adulthood. This is the same child who said in kindergarten that they wanted to go back to preschool, so this is a problem of long standing.
I did stop at the pharmacy after dropping DCGF, so there’s a ta-da. Once I got home, I was able to call up the daily menu from the cupcake shop I wanted to go to and got orders from the family. Once I picked DC up, we swung by and got them. I will finally have cake tonight! And then we can call my birthday over. We did not have dinner at the local restaurant I had wanted, but we did have dinner at the venue’s sit-down restaurant when we went to see Weird Al.
That was a great show! The live songs were interspersed with videos just enough to give him and his crew time for costume changes. And he did stuff from across his career, so there was something for everybody. He did a cover for one number, not even changing any of the lyrics — Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al.” Unfortunately, my hip is just now mostly recovered from the event. The venue is a semi-natural amphitheater, so there was a lot of walking up and downhill.
Not much in the way of other ta-das so far today. I tidied the bathroom and rinsed the dirty dishes, that’s about it.
My computer battery is dying, and my phone is not very good for CUOPing, so I will try to get back here later when things are charged. Have a pleasant evening!

Robert Redford's death. He was always a favorite of my dmom's. Burt Reynolds, y'all know, was my favorite actor, and I always think of these two together for some reason. That doesn't make any sense, because I'm pretty sure they were ever in anything together, but they sorta stand as icons of the 70s theater to me, I guess. I liked Robert Redford, I just liked Burt Reynolds better (maybe b/c Burt Reynolds looked a lot like OG?) Anyway -- The Way We Were will always be one of my all-time favorite movies. OH -- and how could I forget -- The Natural!!! I LOVED The Natural and showed it to some of my classes occasionally.
