On the ups and downs of life -
HRH fussed about having to scoot to the edge of a rather low couch to get up.
"I used to spring right up."
me - "Well, I don't know if you did from this couch - it's so low."
"Are you kidding? I used to spring up from the FLOOR.
But now my spring's broke."

Sitting here sketching scary houses at nearly midnight in October. I can't explain myself.

I'm posting at 1:00 a.m. without really cuop. Please forgive me. Definitely not going to bed early, Harriet!
Last night dgs and I were eating pizza at 11:30 at night. He slept later than me today! (They are on fall break.)

I've had dgrands all day; DGD is here tonight and will keep me occupied tomorrow. My mind is all over the place anyway -- church concerns I put in J&C... plus some financial worries. Got property tax statements today and my taxes have more than DOUBLED. From $1500 last year to $3400 this year! I can come up with it... but my goodness... it's not like I'm getting a raise to compensate for this. I keep trying to tell myself, God will provide... but my goodness. I am seriously considering selling some land. I can imagine what Scarlett felt like when she made her dress out of Miz Ellen's portiers... I told dmom today, I wish I had a rich ex-boyfriend I could visit in jail. (Y'all KNOW I'm kidding! I'd be scared to death if I had to visit someone in jail.) Anyway... I need to re-visit my budgeting pages and see what I have coming up later this year. And Christmas coming up... two more family birthdays... sheesh.

I do have my voice back -- at least I did today. I may have talked too much today and be hoarse again tomorrow. And we have a meeting at church tomorrow -- the first of three meetings to help us decide whether to remain independent or join one of the newer associations.

I did a load of laundry today (towels.) It is piled high on the couch waiting to be folded.
I also got a new toilet handle/flusher -- mine broke Saturday. I have not installed the new one yet, but the man at the hardware store said I could do it easily on my own.

I also desperately need to go to Wmart for groceries. More expenses...

Waving to all. Maybe when these kids go back to school Wednesday I can return from the MIA list. I am so glad they want to stay with me; I know like the song says, "it won't be like this for long."
