Re: Finally Friday Fabulous Conga PWYC
Thank you ALL so much for your patience and encouragement.
Kittykat, I really appreciate your post last night. It's good to know that you know someone about the same stage of this journey as I am, and that I'm not so crazy. I am definitely not ready to get out and try new things -- well, for the most part. I am trying the chair yoga at church, and I did agree to teach that class on Wednesday nights -- although I must admit, I'm glad to be taking a break as the holidays approach.
I don't mind the question about tv -- and actually, I have not turned it on all day today! I'm sure that's why I've had a few more ta-das, actually. If it's on, I sit down on the couch, and that leads to eating, endless scrolling and playing games on the computer, and napping. I do enjoy most of the programs I watch, and I watch a news channel a lot too, so I guess it's educational in a way. BUT -- it does waste a lot of time.
At night -- I do seem to need the noise and light from the tv. I'm not exactly scared (which is truly a blessing from God, because if you'd asked me a few years ago, I might have said I'd be scared to stay here alone) -- but it does bother me a little to have the house dark and quiet at night. If dgrands are here, I do a little better, but I usually leave the tv on when they are here too.
I'd like a pet in THEORY, but in REALITY, I do not want to have to deal with housetraining and all that. I can see where a pet would be a lot of companionship, but I've never had an inside pet and I don't really want to start now.
I'm LOL at Harriet's question -- how did I convince kids they would be interested in ninth grade English? I'm afraid it was a losing battle with some of them. Of course, as one of my mentors said, we don't teach the subject, we teach students. Building relationships and being able to talk with students is sometimes more important than what is on the lesson plan on any given day. Of course, we had to cover the material, but I just tried to relate it to something they could imagine in their own lives. Hmmm... advertising... I'll think on that. But I'm off-duty till New Year's. Preacher will do Advent study and I'm glad to hand it over to her!
Gotta run -- lots more to say but dgd has called -- "Can you come pick me up?"

Re: Finally Friday Fabulous Conga PWYC
Twins…you can take your husband to the Grand Canyon it’s not like when you lived on the mountain.
The land to the canyon is Flat! It’s only when you walk to the edge and look DOWN. He doesn’t have to get anywhere near the edge and could sit in the lodge and eat and drink while you wander around and enjoy the views.
You can stay in Williams and ride the train to the canyon. There are other places the are close by as well. Flagstaff is beautiful and a college town. There is a mountain there..Flag is at the bottom… and is one of the two places in AZ where you can ski during winter season

Love this comment Lucylee:
DMillie has been a pain in the bottom this afternoon. She got a walk but she just wanted me downstairs. I went out with her once I got our supper underway and we played with "Squirrel."
Dh wants a fire at the firepit this p.m., thus early supper. Meatloaf and roasting butternut squash in oven, and a spinach salad to go with. He's invited several neighbors, obviously wants company.
I'm just tired these days. Can't seem to get any energy going.
You're absolutely right RR. I shouldn't settle for not going to some of these places because he can't take the heights. He did make it pretty miserable for me once. I had taken over driving and he wouldn't even let me pull over. I think now I might tell him to just close his eyes and take some deep breaths.

I've had a quiet day, the best kind, although I'm still not feeling up to par. After my haircut/style and pedicure I came home and napped. Or at least I got in bed awhile because I was so cold. I finally got up and went upstairs and stamped. I made a card for the wedding we're going to tomorrow night and also one for a genealogy acquaintance who has had surgery and is facing radiation because she cancer in lymph nodes. Don't know her but she's well known in the genealogy community and a friend put her address online and asked for cards/prayers for her.we don't teach the subject, we teach students.

Re: Finally Friday Fabulous Conga PWYC
Bs tanked so I've dealt with that.
Glad I did my chores early before day lite.
Rested then got dinner going in the oven.
Twins : Meat loaf & squash sounds lovely. I remember stuffed acorn squash with meat loaf a fav.
LH did not think he would like it till he tasted it! Then is was a fav. said he did not like squash ....
I found three ways he did. Spaghetti squash with tom. & h.b. fried zucchini. And a casserole.
It great this time of year. I even like it with just butter & salt.
dsis is having sweet potatoes. Yummy also.

Re: Finally Friday Fabulous Conga PWYC
I’m surprised TwinsDad seems able to fly in airplanes but doesn’t want to go to the Grand Canyon. Although I can sorta see the difference.
Dh was nervous when we went to the GC. He was afraid I was getting too close to the edge — and there ARE lots of places a person could fall to their death, I’m sure. Dh was nervous when we went to Klingman’s Dome in the Smokies… lighthouse in St Simons Island, and the bridge you used to walk across to get to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ stadium. (That kinda made me nervous too!)But I think his main fear of flying had to do with claustrophobia.
Dgd is in bed. We’ve had a good night.
Oh my goodness — I just turned on the tv — Cathy, your Bluejays are having a GREAT night! Wow! I’m not real invested in this— I like Freddie Freeman but I don’t like the Dodgers— so I’ll be happy for you if the Bluejays win the Series.
