Re: Smile Saturday
I got a little way with crochet. Tackled the kitchen. Except I really should have turned the dw on last night so there's stuff waiting for the next load. Better though. Floors. Should do some detail dusting in the living room.
Pick up some footprints
Dusting and windows in living room and entry
Sweep everywhere
Crochet for a bit
Finish s&s both baths
Put away laundry
Tidy Master bedroom and laundry room some
A little music just cause
Clean cat boxes and take garbage out
Add stuff to dw and turn on
Wash a few things and prep the rest for dw
Wipe counters and table

Re: Smile Saturday
I am able to load the first page. I'll start CUOP and see how it goes.
Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt.
I think that you made your df C very happy, accommodating her food choices.
LOL, trissie, I have been thinking of helia's grandbaby as Imogen, because I imagine her.
Leaving for my holiday a day later took a lot of pressure off of me, and looking back I don't feel that I missed anything specific by doing that. I hope that you can take a little of the pressure off of yourselves.
That sounds like a very interesting book.
I'm glad that you found some clothes that you like, FrenchFly. Shopping for clothes can be so tiring and time-consuming, but having new clothes that we like can be a nice lift.
Hi, Lauralind. I hope that you get to spend some time today on a want.
Okey, I have made it to the end of page 1. I will see if the board will let me post, and then spiff myself and go on to the next adventure.
I am so pleased with how the brownies came out! They solve two problems for me. One is that I have not been going to Giant Tiger as often, which is where I pick up cheap baked treats. They are probably filled with the worst of the fats and sweeteners, so just as well. But I walk around with a vague feeling that I would like some more baked goods and they are more expensive in the other stores (but equally bad for you.) The other thing is that I have been feeling deprived because chocolate has gotten so expensive so I keep putting off buying it. This handles both cravings with better ingredients. And while I anticipate that cocoa is going to shoot up in price, a container of cocoa will go a LOT further than any chocolate that I buy. I have a strategy.
Saturday
Cleaned up after Germane
Put away dry tshirts.
Rearranged the rest to finish drying.
Checked laundry on big rack
Filled the TP holder
Cleaned up after dog
Put on pot of coffee
Break to listen to radio shows
Researched breadmaker brownie recipes
Searched for ingredients
Searched for my Fire tablet
Filled/started breadmaker
Started washing dishes
Moved batter to baking pan and baked it
Washed more dishes
Tried to find ways to get my Alexa and my phone to find the Fire tablet
Tried the browniesβvery, very pleased with how they came out

Re: Smile Saturday
We ended up at the bigger Amish stand and I bought a half bushel box of squash for $15. Lots of acorn, butternut, honey nut, and spaghetti squash recipes in our future.
Do you have brownies, Dogged? Ooooo I see you have brownies. That sounds like a good solution for your chocolate cravings.

Re: Smile Saturday
Hello, everyone!
Trissie, I didn't get any junk food for me - my tummy is getting fussy about things like emulsifiers a d other additives, which rules out a lot of things. (I've found some good quality chocolate in both Waitrose and M&S that pass the "test", which is expensive but also quite rich and satisfying, so you only need a few pieces at a time.
)
Helia, praying for your DBaby I and her parents at this very difficult time. Trissie has lots of very good advice!
What colour will the blanket be, Laura? I e made things from crochet in in the past, but nothing as large or as complicated as a blanket
Dogged, mmmm, brownies! They sound delicious!
That's a lot of squash, L.Ann! At least they keep well.
Hi, Peaches!
This afternoon I made the most of DH being out to declutter and spring clean the floor to ceiling bookcase on the landing, and wipe down all the woodwork. I have a few books to donate, and the rest are back on the bookcase. I also did a little more sorting out in my wardrobe. Tomorrow's lunch is prepared a d I e made a cherry loaf cake.

Re: Smile Saturday
F wanted us all to come to the hospital. I think she's a social gatherer or something; so, we went to the hospital this morning earlier than we had expected to go. She especially wanted her mom -- but when I asked she said she also wanted dh and me there. We were moral support. F was doing much better when we left; she had stopped crying at least. She asked me about our experience with dd30 who was born at 35 weeks, and I could share how she was in NICU for a bit but ended up just fine. We went to visit little I in the NICU - so tiny and hard to see her tiny body attached to wires, feeding tube, etc. But she's doing well. While we visited her with ds, they decided to turn down the breathing support because she was doing better! That's good news! Back at the room, Dh suggested that F and ds sleep as much as possible now while I is in the NICU being cared for. F is absolutely exhausted - in a little post-surgery pain, dealing with hormonal postpartum body, working on pumping colostrum, and now sick with worry. I think they liked that idea, so we headed out and F's mom went with us. Dh and I also tidied their room a bit while ds + F were in the NICU talking with the doctor.
I'm so proud of ds. He is amazingly attentive to F and to little I also, always helping with pumping, feeding, diapers - everything. He is remaining calm and rational; he is the one who absorbs the doctor's and nurses' instructions and also is giving cuddles and emotional support to F as well. He slept a little more than F last night but is also totally exhausted.
The nurses/ Dr. are checking on little I at 3:30 and probably getting a sample to test her glucose, and then she'll have some skin-on-skin time with F. We'll plan to go back after that --> we now have about 3.5 hours back at the house. Well, at this point, we have another 2.5 hours before we leave again.
I'm at a coffee shop with dh right now. I'm going to head to the grocery store soon. I miss my yogurt + fruit! Then, I'll go back to the house. I might lay down for a bit or work on payroll stuff. I need to have a lesson planned by tomorrow.
Sh, F's mom, is pretty easy to get along with, but she is one of those people that talks non-stop. This exhausts me. Like many of you, I am an introvert. Dh and I can do tag team with her, which helps. Not sure what I'll do when dh leaves on Monday.
Thank you for letting me dump here! I'm heading to the grocery store next.
