Bama, remoskas are actually pretty popular with the English camper people, so there's a lot of video reviews in English :-)

food is placed directly in the pot, but for the bigger versions it's also possible to place smaller oven-safe containers in it. Mine's no-stick coating meaning it's even easier to clean after, and as the heating element is in the lid, the whole bottom can be washed safely.

But no remoska cooking for me today, I'm making some good old paprikash, in double batch to freeze half of it for later :-)

L.Ann, I so get trying to figure out gifts for everybody by everybody! I felt like strangling my sister in law when one year she was like "Oh, do give me recommendations for gifts for your kids from me and from mom and dad, and as to gifts for my kids, you're always so good at coming up with something, so I know you will find the right ones!"
what movie are you seeing, helia, and since you'll be reading this later, how did you like it? :-)

trissie, we saw Rental Family. Everyone liked it! I'm curious what one can do with a remoska that one can't do stove top or with a crock pot? It sounds very interesting. Maybe I need one! LOL!
Hi Peaches.

I'm going to wrap the laughing farting unicorn next. I may join dh at a coffee shop - although, dh just left and dbro + dniece just ate a big snack and are settling down for a nap -- which means I have the house to myself.

helia, a remoska is more like a pot-sized oven than a slowcooker - but since you are only heating the space of the pot and not the whole oven, it's very energy efficient. Also, it's kinda like baking something with the lid on - it stays all nice and juicy, with the crispy skin and all.
I use it for roasted meats, casseroles and (probably most often) for quick snack-type cakes when I don't feel like heating the whole oven.
Many people have it either in student dorms or in their weekend houses where they don't have an oven at all, and it works nicely for most of the things you'd do in an oven.

Funny story - the person who made remoska popular in England was Lady Milena Grenfell-Baines. She was one of the children on Sir Nicholas Winton trains and later married British architect sir George Grenfell-Baines. In 2000, she wanted to gift a remoska to her cousin, but found that there were no remoskas for sale in England, so she began distributing them. She even gifted one to then-Prince Charles for his personal kitchen! :-)

Hello, everyone!

Smilelee, thank you for the information about jello salads. I think over here the artificial colours have been removed, so things are often less vivid than they used to be.

Helia, that pumpkin pie looked beautiful - you have a very talented daughter! The cake took just under 2 hours to bake. Trissie is right and the remoska is popular over here - Lakeland have sold them for some years now. https://www.lakeland.co.uk/31945/standa ... -accordion

L.Ann, you made very wise purchases today!

Trissie, I need to do shopping online also, for such delights as cat food and supplements!

Hi, Peaches!

I had a very nice time with DF PL, and then came home ,mixed the cake and baked it. Now it's out of the oven, I'll make the glaze for the top tomorrow. The day was unexpectedly dry, so I made the most of some time in my garden, and finally fed those pots. I've done the wool wash, and folded laundry and PA. DH had choir practice, and I emailed MD about parish lunch and then cooked Welsh rabbit jacket potatoes for supper, with ham and cheese. Matilda is now on my lap. :D
