OK - slightly new plan. MZ IS going to join us for dinner tonight. It's good she accepted the invite. In that case, the bathroom MUST receive some attention. I don't know what happened while dbro + dniece were here. But something did. (MZ is a young friend, originally dd30's friend from university. She lived for us for 6 months after graduating from university. She's struggling a bit so in the area again, living with her mom for the time being.)

helia, should I admit to being so provincial that I do not know how to use a bidet? I would be afraid of accidentally washing the ceiling if I came across one.

We have crept up to -6 C with windchill of -11. I'm wondering if I carried Germane across our windtunnel parking lot to the windbreak on the sidewalk, could I walk under to the next driveway? The weather is only going to get snowier from here on in.

Turtles accomplish a lot, Bama. Moving slow is better than ground to a halt, LOL. Harvest gold, what were they thinking? I had one apartment where the fridge was not avocado green but a minty blue green, and the counter was a red that in no way coordinated. I'm happy to say that my current apartment has white toilet, stove, fridge and cupboards.
Those are some awesome and very motivating check marks.

I was all productive, then stopped for a break. I think that I'm ready to dive in again.

Harvest gold! That’s the name I couldn’t think of. Thanks Doggedly. Im with you on the bidet seeming foreign, although I do have friends just a little older than me that love it so I’m sorta considering it at some point. I think the installation intimidates me, although df installed it alone…I’d want the warm water in winter which I think would require electricity or connecting to the sink somehow (which there’s a wall between) so I’ll wait for now.
Real turtles are awesome. Me in motion not so much.

Just flying by to update my list and say that I will be vacuuming next.

Hello, everyone!

Bama, our house originally had a green bathroom suite, not the avocado colour, but a lighter colour called Pampas. That went as soon as we could get the bathroom done, and now it's an all white suite, with vinyl on the floor.in shades of white and grey. ( Previously, there was a very nasty "bathroom carpet". Such things were popular over here late 1970s and early 1980s when the house was built. )

I hope you enjoyed breakfast with your friends despite the weather, L.Ann.

Helia, my aunt who married a French man after WW2 and loved in France had a bidet in her bathroom when I was growing up. I remember thinking it very exotic!

I'm back home.after.a.lovely time.at the Advent meditation - there were 16 of us sitting in a circle in the Lady Chapel, and we had a very quiet, peaceful time. Afterwards I did go with some of the others to the pub for a meal,.and was still back home.before it got too late. And I was able.to give Curate.S the critique of her sermon.

I did some more Investigations on the dining room table today, and discovered we do t need a new hinge, as the springs are sold separately . Measuring the spring was tricky,.as with it's positioning,.you need.a mirror,.a torch (I used the flashlight on my phone) and a ruler to measure the spring on the other side of the table, which is still intact.. I've ordered what I think is the correct size from Amazon,.and I'll see if it's possible for me to fit it when it arrives, of whether it's a job for a professional!

Bama, I just meant that somehow dbro or dniece made a spectacular mess of the toilet. That's all. LOL! It's generally cleaned up, but I'd like to do some detail cleaning and sanitizing.
Doggedly, yeah, the bidets/ Japanese toilets look intimidating but they're really easy to use. And you can adjust the temperature and angle of the water and use a dryer if you want - which I never use. Ours used to have a seat warmer, and you could adjust that too. The ones in Japan and S. Korea also have sound effects, like the sound of birds singing or running water - I guess to mask any sounds a person might be making on the toilet. LOL! Ours does not have that feature.
Kitty, the MBR bathroom in our house in TX had a carpeted bathroom until we finally did a little remodeling in there. WTG ordering the spring.

OK - back from WF. Put away the groceries. Had the phone call with my director. It's dark - so I can't go for a walk. And now MZ will be here for dinner at 6:30, so I can't go to the gym and be late with dinner. I guess I'll take care of laundry and start dinner then.

That video might just have saved some marriages, Kittykatt.
That does sound like some very tricky measuring. There's a thing that Home Depot sells that looks like a plastic rectangle with pins coming out of it. You push it into odd-shaped corners and the pins change position to mimic the corner. Then you can measure it, do a cardboard template, cut flooring to shape, etc. It sounds like just what you need..

helia, I think that North Americans would be alarmed if they heard birds chirping in your bathroom.

Found a puddle in the kitchen in an awkward spot. It turned out to be just a little water splashed from the vegetables being washed.

Kittykatt, no pie today but soon! Our bathroom is carpeted, not in the toilet area, and while it’s nice to not stand on cold tile it does need to go. I just can’t decide what to replace it with. I don’t want to clean grout.

Dogged, especially where you are. (Warm bidet) Your cold outranks my cold by far.

Oh, Bama, you brought back a funny memory. I have a df who used to live in 3-story townhouse, The first level was the garage and the powder room, and the stairs. It was an unheated garage and those bathroom fixtures got COLD in the winter. One day, at a party, the guests somehow got into a discussion of the gymnastics that we used to to avoid touching our skin to the cold fixture. If ever there were validation for a heated seat, that would have been it, LOL.

I have stuffed myself with pasta and pesto, and will indulge my sudden desire to be horizontal.
