Since I don't watch TV, I rarely have occasion to see commercials. I went looking for the Apple Friendship commercial and thought it was great.

DS17 and GF have volunteered to be the driver for DD14 appointments tomorrow. The appointments will require about 5 hours so I offered to pay DS17 what he was earning hourly at his last job. He said "No way! Family helps each other out. That's what we do. I don't want to be paid for doing it"
What a sweetheart. Although I won't be paying hourly wages, I will be feeding the 3 teenagers probably 2 meals out and paying for their gas.
However, i won't have to be out in the cold and will get to spend those 5 hours at home. #Worth It!

Dh has had his meds and he is watching another football game.

I have cleaned the top of the stove. Tomorrow morning I need to empty the dishwasher and do the pots and pans from tonight. I heated the Indian leftovers on the stove in 4 different pots/pans. Learned an amazing way to reheat rice. I don't usually have a lot of leftover rice. There is still leftover Tandoori chicken, so I will have that for lunch tomorrow. One purchased meal gave us enough for 2 suppers and a lunch. Dh was happy about that. Before the Ozempic, he would have eaten almost everything in one meal.

Oops... I'm yawning. Time to go and read in bed.

Cathy, you are so right -- we have been together here through so many life stages. I truly appreciate knowing you ladies are out there in cyberspace. It's a blessing to know there is always someone to listen and care about us, whatever we are going through.
Are you already having problems with the caregiver? Oh my goodness. (((BIG HUGS))) and prayers that this situation is resolved SOON.

Are any of you close enough to the Great Lakes to be experiencing the wind and waves? I just saw a thing on Facebook talking about 30' waves!

I had to turn on the AC this afternoon. It was 75 degrees in the house and I was just burning up. I still had on a scratchy sweater that I had worn to church.
Weather girl on tv is saying to drip water in faucets M/T/W nights. Ugh. I can hear it raining right now.

DGD, DS, and I went to church this morning; DDIL had to work this weekend. DGS had an episode of throwing up in the shower and he just didn't feel like going to church. DS called him afterwards to see if he wanted anything for lunch. He said no, and he slept until at least 2:30 this afternoon. (I took a short nap while I was waiting for him to wake up.) Afterwards, however, he wanted me to fix a frozen pizza for supper, and he ate all but one slice! He has gone home now, and he and dgd will be back over here tomorrow afternoon while DS and ddil play music for the residents at the nursing home where she works.
DGS' problem likely stems from being off his medicine during this school holiday. If he does not take his OTC antacid every day, this usually occurs. He sees a gastroenterologist who apparently does not think it is a frequent enough problem to be concerned about. I try my best to make sure he does get his medicine when he is with me, but I have to have a card to remind me.

I took the garbage to the road and went to Walmart this afternoon. Also cleaned out the refrigerator from the leftovers from Christmas.

I watched The Yearling (Gregory Peck 1946) on tv this evening. It was kinda sad, but I enjoyed it. I had never seen it before.

Twins, your birthday meal sounds delicious! I just told my dmom this week, I wish I enjoyed cooking. Like you, I just don't.

LadyM, I would agree -- avoiding a 5 hour trip in tomorrow's cold weather -- priceless!

Harriet, I do plan to get back on track this week. DS keeps his tree up till Jan. 6, (or later!) but my plan is to start putting away tomorrow, and get the tree down Thursday. I already switched out my kitchen placemats. I have a small round table, and the Christmas placemats were rectangular and overlapped each other. I switched to blue ovals which fit much better.
I have no real plans for the week. I hope Dcousin will invite me to their family gathering again for New Year's Eve, because I need to bake that ham -- in the LARGE roaster this year!
* And drat * That reminds me I did not get pineapple and cherries while at Wmart. SMH...
I will be checking in on the Focus forum and the planner discussions. Need to get my planner set up for the new year. I spent some time last night looking for a Word of the Year. Some that came up -- Breathe -- Surrender -- I'm thinking there is a trend here.

Nancy, I'm with you re: the bugs in summer! I only like mild weather... 70ish temperatures. I complain about the cold; I complain about the heat.

KittyKatt, I need to go out and take down dmom's wreaths, or get DS to do it. But that will definitely wait till after the first of the year, since we've got such cold weather headed our way. I don't have anything outside -- candles in the windows, and wreaths on the doors, but nothing actually outdoors.

Hi LucyLee. I was referring to myself because right now I am the only caregiver in this house. (Dh tries to be my caregiver, but freezes up when things overwhelm him, like when I needed him to call an ambulance back in October. He just stood there like a statue and didn't know what to do.) Even just now. He came into the bedroom and flopped down onto the bed. I asked him to close the bedroom door so the cats wouldn't wake me up in the morning. After asking him twice, I got up to close the door myself. Then he said he didn't know what I meant by "Close the door or the cats will come in."

If your DGS needs an antacid, the tomato sauce on pizza might be one of the triggers. I know when I have anything with tomatoes/tomato based sauces, I need tums until the reflux settles down. If I don't take one, I end up getting sick to my stomach. He could start keeping track of what he eats so he can see a trend. Tell him it's like keeping score of a football game, except it's keeping score of what makes him get sick to his stomach.

The youngest cat thinks it's time to go outside because I'm not in bed. So it's time to go back to bed.

Oops... almost forgot. We are nearly a mile north of Lake Ontario but there is a highway between us and the lake so we don't need to worry about any waves.

Blessed, I hope your DMum is happy and smiley today. Do you think she might be missing your DDs and is feeling unsettled I til she gets used to it?

Harriet, I'm looking forward to joining in with the focussed cleaning, to encourage me to get my remaining two rooms decluttered and deep cleaned. I know I just need to *start*! BTW, it's *so* nice to have friends to chat to here about cleaning without being thought weird!

LucyLee, I hope your DGS feels better soon. I agree with Cathy that tomatoes are a likely culprit, and that tracking his food would be a good idea. I did read somewhere that a pinch of bicarbonate of soda in cooked tomatoes can help reduce symptoms, but this may not be a good idea if DGS is already taking medication.

DH has left early this morning for a day volunteering on the heritage steam railway. It's still dark and cold outside, so I'm having some snuggle time in bed with Jude, who is very happy about this arrangement!

I agree that pizza was not a great choice for dgs, but when he got sick this morning, I don’t think he had eaten anything— maybe some dry Cheerios.
