"A little skunk with a stripe of white,
Waddles through the yard at night.
With a tail held high and a tiny nose,
Searching for beetles on his tippy-toes.
Though he smells quite strong, he is shy and sweet,
Just stamping his feet in the dark, dark street"

Mystery - you are rocking getting things done and having plans for next steps. YGG!
Conversations heard this morning included methods and ways of preparing for the extended cold to protect the uhhmmmm delicately as I know how to say..... hanging body parts of a bull. Those parts are exposed to the cold and can freeze. A bull without its equipment is almost worthless. Rolling out bales of hay to encourage bulls to lay down on hay in pasture is the most common method of keeping those hanging body parts from freezing.
I'm still processing all that we discussed with family doctor this morning. A couple of things are in the works. DH will be sent to a specialist in big city to have an Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) put in his chest. Also some more specialized blood work done. Our family doc is looking at Intermittent Afib being the cause of embolic blood clot that causes a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). All these things can happen and then disappear leaving no signs to show up in tests later. By implanting a ILR he hopes to capture the afib happening shortly before the memory loss episode proving that is what is happening with DH. I agree to it but I did point out to doctor that DH already wears a smartwatch that is capable of capturing afib happening and the smartwatch has not given any indication of that happening.
I asked ...okay...say we prove that is what is happening. Then what is the next step? Switching his blood thinner to a different med.
I asked ....will any of this help restore/recovery from the memory he has already lost? No. That is most likely forever gone.
I asked about carbs and Type 3 diabetic affecting memory. Doctor absolutely recommended staying away from sugar and processed carbs.
soooooooo being good patients we left that doctor appointment, went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of junk food in anticipation of the winter storm. oops.

Re: Conga Friday PWYC
I am currently in the middle of making salmon casserole for supper tonight.
I got laundry washed while I was at knitting. (laundromat is 2 stores away)/ There were 6 of us at knitting today. Last week it was just me and the store owner.
Dh texted me to tell me he had to lock the back door due to the wind, so I should honk when I got home so he could let me in. Ummm... I have my house keys with me.

Re: Conga Friday PWYC
My mind is about gone today. I'm scatterbrained and the dog is needy and I've just had interruptions on end.
I'm going to go walk her a couple of laps and call it a day. I did make reservations for hotels in March in Richmond and in May in Ft. Wayne IN. I don't know if I posted that earlier. And I did email Barbour customer care about getting a replacement tab that goes at the front collar to protect the neck.
Our supper is brats - not my favorite but dh like - and I should make a veggie too, or a fruit, or both.

Re: Conga Friday PWYC
I ate while I was in Next Town -- turkey sandwich, chicken salad, and fruit. Brought some chicken salad home for the weekend.
Talked to ddil -- she is going to spend the night at the nursing home Just In Case, you know. Said she didn't know when she would leave home, and doesn't know when ds will be back home. We discussed whether or no dgd would want to stay with me tonight, but she had not picked up dgd from school at the time, and said she would call me later.
I'm back home and have more food than I need to eat in the next three days...
Just hoping the electricity stays on.
I talked to dmom; sounds like she is ready for whatever storm we get.
I'm going to conga over to the couch and watch the news * and weather * till dgd calls.
Can't help thinking of those bulls now...
and LordM. Maybe a change in medication would help? If that does turn out to be the problem. (((BIG HUGS))) for you both, LadyM.

Re: Conga Friday PWYC
LadyM, would the Kardia device help? (the at-home fingertip pad that reports heartbeat rhythm to a cell phone, which can then be sent to physician for analysis, if desired) About $80. Perhaps constant monitoring is required, though.
Ds was extremely sobered by a noon conference call with authorities, upping the predictive chances of thick ice accumulation. He came here without stopping at house, adjusted heat lamp again in the well house. Called to say no amount of working on that, of course, will help when we lose power. He says he can't quite envision us NOT losing power. wow. Ddolder is on a different power line sequence/branch, but that only gives any insurance if nearby events are the culprits, leaving one or the other of us with power. The likelihood would be that widespread outages would affect everyone.
Like Twins', I don't feel that I've been as clearheaded as I would want about all the different things to think about. Already worried about all the animals around us, now LadyM gives yet another reason.
blessed, the storm does reach LadyM today, but not here until tomorrow.
Love the poem.

Re: Conga Friday PWYC
ugh....we have frozen rain falling so far. It is the worst of the possible precipitation and was hoping to not receive. Frozen rain is what hangs on the electrical lines and builds up which can cause them to collapse from the weight. Sleet makes things slick but doesn't hang on electrical lines. Choice #1 would be snow. Dreaming of big beautiful fluffy snowflakes.
I am not sure. I think the doctor wants to monitor 24/7 and have it reporting directly to him. He said the ILR device would last up to 6 years after being installed.would the Kardia device help?

Re: Conga Friday PWYC
Dishwasher is going.
Dryer is also going.
Temp is also going... down, down, down. Right now it's MINUS 14 Celcius. Expected to go down to MINUS 27 Celcius around here and DOWN to MINUS 37 or 40 or 47 or 50 in the northern areas of Canada (depending on what station /platform the weather information is on).
By the way, this weather is allegedly coming to Canada from the USA. (According to most weather information I had looked at today.)
Don't forget to charge everyone's phones, etc. tonight before the worst hits your area.
