Hi, Bama, you're right, Matilda is a bundle of mischief! Fortunately the nurse found it funny too. (I suspect she was just grateful.not to have to deal with Freddie.) At least Matilda didn't get started on the pile of cards that are given out to those owners whose pets are deemed to be overweight - they say , "I have been given a referral to the weight management clinic" and are handed to the receptionist so she can book an appointment. So it would appear that weight loss clinic (colloquially known as "Fat Club" ) has been given a makeover!

Yes, I did see the article - Weymouth is about 60 miles away, so not that far from us. I thought it was fascinating that the can could travel so far by sea, and also that the company in Alabama thought they could track down the previous owner by the codes on it! I did think the "finder" was one of the "professionally offended" though, saying he was "upset" when he found it. Iirc, the Alabama company thought it had got swept into the sea during hurricane Sally in 2020(?) so, of course , no one is deliberately throwing trash cans into the sea! I remember years ago putting messages in bottles and throwing them into the sea - just a bit of fun, even if I never did get a reply!

Helia, this is the story of the bin on the BBC:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9qpd3xxe8eo

In case it won't let you read it (the BBC can be a bit funny sometimes about international access), I also found this link:
https://1819news.com/news/item/baldwin- ... in-england

I need to unload the DW and feed the kitties - not sure in which order, although I expect they will decide!

No, trissie, the car is very close to the building. I've just been enjoying my days of not setting foot outside so much, I hate to break the streak.
Hooray for floor! That is reclaimed real estate.

Hooray for reclaimed car and driveway, L.Ann.

Matilda thanks Freddie for setting the bar so low that on her worst day at the vet, she sails over it.
You got lots done, Kittykatt, particularly for a day after a night of poor sleep.

Thank you, Bama. Germane and I have sampled the vegetables and she has gone back to sleep in the bathroom, so I'm going to try to sneak out without waking her. The weather is not bad and the snow has stopped, but -17 windchill is still cold for her.

Welcome back, helia. That's going to be a big dinner, but we know that you have got this.

It can be a real adventure, getting toddlers to eat, kitkat. Luckily, you have experience.

Tuesday
Spiffed self
Breakfast for Germane. She ate the first serving, begged for a second serving while she has ignored while she begs non-stop
Cleaned up after dog X 2
Bagged up kitchen garbage
Brought it to basement
Checked mail
Prepped some vegetables for breakfast
Checked order status: it has been delivered
Got ready to go down to get order.
Germane is suddenly velcro dog.
Put her harness on and brought her down to collect the parcels.

Oops, almost copy pasted someone else’s list, maybe that’s what I should do to feel accomplished.

Germane sounds very reasonable to me, it’s around +17 (F) lows this week and I am good with staying indoors until it warms up in the afternoons.

Kittykatt, I’ve never heard of a pet fat club. That’s so interesting. Our vet suggests a low calorie food, which usually no pet eats, same as the other speciality foods. I have to mix any specialty food with regular so they eat it up. Why can’t they add the same fish or chicken flavoring to the diet foods, I wonder.
I’m glad you saw the article, what a ride! There is a lot of litter but this wasn’t on purpose, although some people don’t secure their belongings properly when storms are coming so who knows. We used to be able to use any store bought trash can but a few years ago the county made us either buy or rent theirs, when they went to the automated lift trucks, so the arms could pick up the cans and save the employees from lifting them. If the number is clear enough to be read, they could track its owner down. That would be an interesting conversation lol.

Wtg, LAnn, kitkat.

All progress counts, helia, even when it’s not on a list. Enjoy your evening gathering.

My beans are still hard, I hope they soften in time for supper. Going outside for a walk.

Tuesday:
✔️Dailies
✔️Wfd - red beans and rice cooking
Make cornbread?
✔️Pet chores
✔️Floors and furniture spot cleaned 🙄
Pets
✔️Closets - hung up my clothes, made small pile of shirts to try on, small pile of winter clothes to pack for trip on chest
✔️3rd bedroom - put batteries in remote
Living room/dining room - ✔️pack up ornaments and decor
Mom’s - take books, water plants and toss any dead ones
Call J and ask if she can notarize something this week
Schedule Polaris pu and tuneup
Made donation box and started filling
Paper - ✔️dealt with small pile
Find H’s death certificate
Self care - wash hair and try out new hair dryer, face mask
Read book club book
Read for pleasure
✔️Played with new binoculars and figured out how to focus

Bama, I am coming to realize just how spoiled I am with Germane. I've never been an outdoorsy person, but I did go out every day with my previous dogs. Germane doesn't make me do anything or go anywhere.
17 F sounds like a lot to deal with in an area that doesn't usually get that cold.

Tuesday
Spiffed self
Breakfast for Germane. She ate the first serving, begged for a second serving while she has ignored while she begs non-stop
Cleaned up after dog X 2
Refilled the dish detergent bottle. Cleaned it and the big container of the dish soap that I ran down the sides and set them out to dry.
Bagged up kitchen garbage
Brought it to basement
Checked mail
Prepped some vegetables for breakfast
Checked order status: it has been delivered
Got ready to go down to get order.
Germane is suddenly velcro dog.
Put her harness on and brought her down to collect the parcels.
Checked first parcel
Sorted dirty laundry
Successfully snuck out without Germane
Went to basement and loaded money on laundry card with the machine
Went out to car and got the water bottle. The water bottle was lying on its side on the seat, so I am very very happy that I found it before the ice melted.
Decided against clearing off the car because it has a nice covering of light snow, and what was coming down was ice pellets. So much easier to clear off ice when it’s sitting on a layer of snow.
Brought up water bottle to apartment
Germane still asleep
Grabbed the loaded handcart and brought boxes to basement locker
Brought up a package of tissues and put it away

How did I miss Kittykatt's post? Once the company identifies the original owner of the garbage can, that will give us an approximate location of where it went into the water, and then we have all of the information that we need to enrage a professionally annoyed person on an ongoing basis. 8-)

Supper came out really well! I took the contents of the slow cooker (pork shoulder, vegetables and clear broth), added pasta and a bit of parmesan cheese and wow! Chef's kiss.

You have earned your rest, L.Ann. Have a good night.

I feel like making brownies and bread, and the night is still young.

Dogged, that trash can trip just lets me know I don’t need a cruise, all I need is a can from my solid waste company and its ships ahoy for me! I’ll see kittykatt in a few years!

There was that time that my book took a trip to Halifax and Quebec without me, while I took a work trip to Toronto. Incredibly, it was back in Ottawa waiting for me when I got home, with a tag with a much more exciting itinerary than I had.
