KitKat, that's a very long winter! Here in the SW of the UK, winter is usually now over by mid February, although areas further north, especially Scotland, can still get snow well into March.

Bama, cut and paste is quite straightforward on my phone - I've only really had write my complete lists out once - I just edit and "tweak " them from time to time to accommodate life's changes.

Dogged, I think we'll see a partial eclipse this summer. I do remember the 1999 full eclipse - we were so fortunate to be in the path of totality then (I think it was just Cornwall and parts of Devon).

Trissie, turkey drumsticks are both delicious and economical, with very little waste - you've reminded me I need to order one soon!

It's been a good day - at church we celebrated Mothering/ Refreshment Sunday (4th Sunday of Lent). We had a very sensitive sermon on the subject from the curate. I didn't see DF E today, as she was going out to lunch with some friends, but I had a good chat with DF PM after church instead. Lunch today was roast duck legs with sea salt, whole grain mustard and honey coating, roast potatoes, gravy, broccoli, carrots and peas , followed by raspberry ripple yogurt fool. I managed some deadheading in my front garden before the rain came, and this afternoon I've worked on the photos and watched my favourite Poirot - the Hollow, and Matilda is now on my lap.

Bedtime CI.
Kids are in bed, homework is done, laundry has been done, what is dry had been folded. Cooking ahead : part of it done. A list is ready for the week.
What didn't get done : a few things I postponed to next week. Vacuuming the bedrooms (DS10's allergy to dustmite will have to wait another day)
The new recipe was a success, kids loved it. (Not my exact recipe but close)

Election results in our town : the right-wing list is elected. In many cities there will be a second election day, but not here since they won by more than 50 %. 59, I think. The town has been administered by leftwing people for many years. Not sure what changes this will bring. Not looking forward to it.
The results in France's large cities will be known later tonight, I will read them tomorrow - hoping the news don't make that Monday morning harder than the others.

Bama, would sweet onion be the white variety? I've also been told at a cooking course to use red onions as they are less sharp than the yellow ones.
L.Ann, I wanted to say that Europe has good hospitals too, but the problem might be insurance, as your DD has a lot of pre-existent conditions which an insurance company might be reluctant to cover, so it's wise to stick to where you know you won't end with exorbitant bill!
Dogged, politics is something I try to not think about. Our previous corrupt center-to-right-wing-but-anti-Russian government was replaced by also corrupt populistic center-to-left-but-will-work-with-Russia government and while one felt like sacrificing your right hand and left kidney, the other feels like sacrifing your left hand, right kidney and half of your spleen, and so far I haven't decided which one was which. Cause the corrupt populists will at least try to buy the votes by giving my money to some poor people, which I don't mind that much, but they will work with Russia. The previous one gave my money to their sponsors, which I do mind very much, but they did not work with Russia. Tough choice there! (I voted for neither, but my party of choice is not involved in any corruption deals hence they got kicked out of previous government and were not considered for current one).

I was trying a new recipe (three-cheese ziti) and I made the original amount (as most of the times we do get by with a 4 people recipe for the six of us) and I was like "there's no way four people could eat that, this lady must be a real eater!" and then noticed the original was for 8! Oh well, DH has a nice lunch box for tomorrow and our little snake-child* has been fed and can starve for a week now
* that would be DBD. She's a picky eater, three spoonfuls and runs away, but every couple days, she will just gulp down something, request seconds and thirds and sometimes even fourth, end up eating a bigger portion than DH - and then proceed to barely eat for some time

Trissie, I couldn't help but smile. But I'm sorry, of course.

Frenchie, the joke is on us, I am afraid! But it really is what happened - there was a state-run system, which generated a lot of money for certain private contractors. The Pirates, my party of choice, are all for digitalization so they tackled this system and came up with an alternative, but since they faced high opposition from people who would have seen their cash cow removed from pastures, there was a delay in implementing it. Realistically, it would have been fully operational 3-6 months later, which is probably the closest anybody has ever adhered to deadline as far as I recall. But the prime minister, at the behest of the people behind the private contractors, recalled the minister responsible for the system, who happened to be the leader of the Pirates party, contrary to the coalition agreement which prohibited him from recalling ministers without the approval of their party. He really, really was desperate to appease his sponsors!

Trissie, LOL at snake-child! (. Although it must be stressful for you at times!) I can relate though, as I, too was very fussy as a child (not helped by.my mother boiling most veggies to death to appease my father). But then, I discover the magic elixir that is Tomato ketchup. Result, a child that would eat anything, even things kids traditionally often don't eat easily, like broccol, Brussels sprouts and.other green veg. Ive recommended this to friends who have picky kids, and it seems to work for them, although one Mum voiced a concern about what would happen if her son still wanted ketchup at 18? I said he'd probably grow out of it by then as his tastes changed but if not, he could ask for the bottle himself!
