We got to the ballpark at 7:45, and we left about 4:15. In the midst of all that, dgd's team played 4 games and lost 3. DGD didn't have a great day -- her she had a single but got caught stealing home, and another hit went right to the pitcher who caught it in the air (which is kinda unusual with this age.) She also got on base on a walk, but again, caught stealing home. She is not very fast. But considering that this is a child who takes weekly shots for rheumatoid arthritis, it is just a blessing that she seems to enjoy playing.
But it was hot and she is on her period, and she actually cried on the way to the car. I don't know if she was that upset about losing, or that she had gotten out in the last game, or maybe she was just worn out.
OTOH -- after a Subway sandwich and an Oreo ice cream "Blast" from Sonic, and some air conditioning... she and dgs were both back to pretty high energy. I told them I was at my limit, and barely got off the couch!
Of course, I was keeping the score book for all four games, and I am NOT very good at this. Most of the time, I had dgs and a friend helping me keep up, but with both of them talking to me, it was a mixed blessing. I definitely need someone to help, however, because once more than one person is on base, I get overwhelmed. I could refuse this job, but ds takes great enjoyment and pride in it, and if he were not the regular scorekeeper, he would be keeping his own book just for his own enjoyment. (Also, for some reason, these youth league parks NEVER seem to have their scoreboards operating! So if you're not sitting beside the person with the book, it's easy to lose track of who is actually winning!)
LadyM, thank you for that link re: the covers for SS cards and others. I have put that in my cart!
I have also just now cancelled my Amazon prime, and my Kindle Unlimited, and Cinemax on my Directv account. I'm spending too much $$ with the ease of A-prime and Kindle Unlimited. DS thinks I am a nut for keeping the Directv at all, but I don't really want to learn a new system (streaming) at the moment. I will probably cancel the other two movie packages soon. I think the 150 channels on my regular package will be quite enough, LOL. I always watch the same two or three channels anyway.
I had to wash some clothes so dgd would have clean underwear for tomorrow, but that is finished. She has had her bath, and I washed her hair. I am about to take my shower, and dgs will take his in the morning.
Both of them were sound asleep by 10:00 pm, I think, so that's a win.
I will sleep well once I get in the bed. DGD still sleeps with me, and it is still very comforting, just to hear someone else breathing beside me, you know.
Today was the anniversary of our first date. 48 years ago. That is so hard to believe. (But there's that Medicare card reminding me I'm not getting any younger. SMH.)
Tomorrow will be 36 years since I lost my first grandparent, my maternal grandmother.
Last Sunday was the second anniversary of dh's death, and Thursday was the anniversary of his funeral.
Thursday was also OG's birthday. (I certainly didn't PLAN it that way -- it just happened that the best day for the funeral was the 16th.)
April is a hard month.
My dfriend, who "deserted" her family (and me) years ago, also has an April birthday. I talked to her ddad on Thursday. OG was like a brother to him, and we did talk about him a bit. OG will have been gone 25 years in August.
