Harriet asked --
lucylee, you were going to have a very busy day today. Hope the two group meetings were good. How did your hair look?
Oh my... talk about the best laid plans of mice and men... (and women)... sheesh.

When I awoke, giving myself two hours before the teacher lunch, I noticed that my cousin had called and as I was trying to hit the voice mail button to see what she called about...
I called her instead...
We talked about 90 MINUTES. Yes. I know.
She was calling to see how the fence man was working out, but she has a lot on her plate and I felt like she needed to vent a little while and I do enjoy talking to her very much...
so FINALLY, I told her I was expected at that lunch meeting and I had about 25 minutes to shower and get there. SMH.
So -- JUMPED in the shower, did NOT wash my hair, did NOT do full make-up and made it to lunch only about 10 minutes late.

Lunch was nice, always good to see those ladies, but the restaurant we chose was not good for conversation. Very loud in there.

Afterwards, one of the ladies called out as we were leaving, "Lucy, wait just a minute if you can -- I don't think my car is going to start."
Well, no it wasn't going to start, and we tried to use my little "jump box" ? for it but that didn't work either. The man who runs the restaurant came out and with a similar gadget, he got it started, and I followed her to Auto Zone. They said they could NOT replace the battery, which was extremely corroded and was in a difficult place to get to, but they advised her to go quickly to the local shop because the battery was SMOKING when they put their tester on it! So I followed her there and when the guy told her it might take an hour or so, I took her home. (This was all in about a three mile radius, I'd imagine. It's not like I was driving all over the world for this.)

Then I went to the bank, took care of the church business... came home and took a short nap.
DS called and said they were back in town, no need for me to pick up dgs.
I got myself a pizza at the service station (it will do for possibly two more meals) and ate one slice before the church meeting.

I did NOT worry about my hair before the church meeting. Like LadyM's dd, I have quite an ordeal getting my curls to behave in this heat & humidity so I just went right on to the meeting. If I shower at night, and use gel, it MIGHT be okay in the morning, but I really need to wash, use gel, and blow dry at least somewhat before going out.
It was good, no one there but our family (including dbil and dsisil), one other couple, the pastor, and the host couple. I really like the other couples, and I like the new pastor, so it was enjoyable. No earth-shattering revelations about the new pastor, LOL, and I suspect my dbil thinks I talk too much, but everything was fine. We only had dessert there -- cookies, cobbler, ice cream, and some crackers and cheese, so it was very casual and low-key.

Tomorrow I have to get some groceries and prepare a fruit tray for tomorrow night at church. If I knew I could pick a good one, I might just get a watermelon and cut it into cubes but I never really feel sure about watermelon until I slice it.
