Just received a lovely bouquet of flowers from DD & family. Very unusual -completely wrapped in a box (in a vase) with instructions how to unwrap, cut, add flower power so they'll last 7 days. Supposed to take 3 days for them to finish blooming. Now to get them unwrapped in the vase. Have to look to see if I'm supposed to trim them today. Wanted dh to see how they came first. B'day cards from friends at church in FL. How nice!
Think I should stop for mail on way to pick up dh from the softball game. No doubt there's a card there from dbil/dsil.
It is now 2:33 and dh is supposed to go to the funeral parlor at 3 and be picked up for the game at 4:15. He will be pushing it to the last possible moment -unless I miss my guess.
Finally took an allergy pill -cotton is flying to beat the band -I can hardly breathe outside. Beautiful weather too!
I got my devotions done but rushed through them because I was out on the back deck and could feel my skin burning. Yes, I could have moved......
The candle lighters I bought yesterday are more like flame throwers, which is good because I need a flame thrower for the children's story in church this Sunday. They have an LED light and a bottle opener too, and are refillable (although we've never managed to successfully refill any of the refillable candle lighters I've bought over the years, so I have a collection of non-working lighters and butane in my match cupboard.) (Don't ask why I have a match cupboard, I have no explanation for that....)

Hello to everyone in the village. DS20 finished Spring semester yesterday, so he's taking it easy hanging around the house today. His laid back attitude is making me want to join him - remember the song "School's Out for Summer"? That song keeps playing in my head!
Welcome Ellyphant! I had to laugh at your comment about already feeling like friends in this community. I felt the same way before I joined. I would tell dh or one of my dds something that "my friend" had said, experienced or whatever. They always gave me a hard time and said they don't even know you. 4 years ago this July, when this board was started, I took a deep breath and jumped in. This has to be the most caring village on the internet. So ellyphant, just jump in and you will never regret it.
I have 5 more shirts to iron for dh, for a total of 16 today and I will have his ironing caught up. Better get back to it. I have to pick up all 5 kids at 3 different places, take them home and stay until dsonilaw comes in from the farm. We are having pizza, so that will help.
Good afternoon everyone! It is an unusual day for me today, full of appointments. I am fighting either a cold or allergies so I am sleepy. I had an appointment with the gastroenterologist today and once again he is surprised I am doing well. Apparently people with gastroparesis (really slow stomach that will sometimes stop functioning altogether) don't do as well as I do. I have had only one problem (that sent me to the hospital two years ago) and no problems whatsoever since. Someone has to be on the good end of the bell curve. Lunch with friends got cancelled, but I may have lunch with one of them tomorrow. At 3:00 I am expecting the swamp cooler installer. DD10 is coming to my house at 6:00 so XDH can go to a meeting. She is having a friend over, but not to spend the night. That will keep her entertained during the installation.
Indiana I am soooo glad you are back home and cuddling with sweet little Jake. I'll bet he was a happy boy!

I have been busy getting through my LIST that I came home with in April. Working very well so far. Cataracts knocked off on June 5 and 12, fungi-toe to foot doctor mid June and also dental work set up. Still haven't seen ggd but soon!

Dsonil has been diagnosed with pinkeye and a sinus infection. Visit is off. Dd32 says she will be having him sleep on the couch, and changing linens often. She and her dmil are staring into the boys' eyes to make sure nothing changes with them. She says WonderBoy announced, "My eyes are NOT itching," when he saw her coming toward him today. (smile) So we are disappointed, but aware that this gives us time to get more ready for (hopefully) a visit next weekend.

Strange to think it's already "school's out" time, sherinjoy. Dd13 still has until June 8 (just asked her the date as she walked by - she says to tell your son he is "luc-KEE!" ).
Dd has a big school day tomorrow - her math class with have an intense day-long Algebra review with the same teacher all day, in a sort of seclusion. I would call it "immersion" learning, if I'm correct on what that term means. The rest of the school continues with the same unusual schedule they had today, so this is a wise use of time, I suppose. Many children just went home early today - nothing was getting accomplished.
One disappointment dd has is that she was going to pick her big sister's brain on some mathematics over the weekend before the exam, and now that won't be possible, really. She can always call with specific questions, but it's not the same as having her at a desk in person. Dd13 maintains that dd32 is a far better mathematics instructor than she's ever had in school, and that she can master a concept in 5 minutes with her even if she's struggled with it at school. Several times she's told dd32 that if she ever gets tired of college life, any middle school math class would be the perfect place for her! (dd13 has not considered the degree of patience necessary for middle school tolerance... ...um.... ...I mean instruction. )
Report to Kathryn: just got off the phone with dstepdil and she will take Wednesday to spend with me and work at my ddad's house and also do a walk-through of my house with me to give me her best advice. (What my priorities should be from a cleaning expert's perspective, tricks or short-cuts, things to let slide or things to admit need her help.) I told her to feel free to shake me and say, "Harriet, your house needs work!" But she says she could never do that to me. LOL. I think she realizes I'm truly open to suggestion, though, and she knows I find it hard to admit I can't do EVERYTHING. (smile)
Dgd is done with preschool for the season now.

On Craig's list Easter egger pullets are $10 ea. delivered but I have no place for 'em at the moment for nesting roosting when the grand kids are older the play house might be converted.
