Oh, I know the SOS pad is a no-no... but my goodness... it was either that or a putty knife... OR DYNAMITE. I mean, nothing else will cut this stuff at all. Nothing. I've heard about car wax, though, and I think I will try that. I am not worried about it being shiny, at all... we're waaay past that. I'm just trying to keep the soap scum from building up like this. Car wax would sorta "repel" the water -- and therefore, the soap film, right?
DH will NOT use the shower spray b/c for some crazy reason he thinks he's doing better with the towel, just wiping it down after he showers.
It's not PERFECTLY clean now, so not ready for car wax... but I may keep at it and get some wax when we go to Wmart Monday.

I just found an email on an email address I haven't used for 2 years. It is supposedly from my cell phone provider saying that I owe $46.57. I haven't had a bill that low for years as I have 2 phones and my WiFi via that provider. Plus I checked on line and my account shows zero.

Pretty good scam. Click on a link to pay the bill and infect my computer. I called to confirm and then hit the DELETE button. My mama didn't raise no fool.

I have heard of more scams lately... dfriend was telling me about a very intelligent, well-educated, elderly man we know, falling for the scam that his gd's husband was arrested in Mexico & needed money! He received a phone call to this effect. We got an e-mail recently w/the same basic story, only ours was from a dcousin's ex-wife. We knew if she needed money, she would NOT be writing to us first!
It's hard to see how anyone ever falls for these things when you're just a bystander... but these scam artists are pretty good, aren't they?

On another subject... or, back to my old subject... this man I live with. * sheesh * He does not want car wax on his shower walls... it may run down and make the floor slick. I swear. I should just give up and let him shower in a petri dish if that is what he wants. Is that the right spelling? Y'all know what I mean. * sheesh *

We have finished the garage tonight instead of waiting until tomorrow. We just couldn't leave it to face another day.

Plus we went out for dinner (just McDs) and picked up the groceries so I have some salad for my lunch tomorrow at Presbytery. I'm volunteering tomorrow too because it is the first day of the selling off of the library books.

I can't get my head around the fact that I'm going to be in Nova Scotia at this time a week from now. I did buy a few cans of soup and some chips to take with me, and didn't buy all the veggies on my list because they will go just go to waste. My meal plan is set now for the rest of the time here this month. The milk we bought tonight is good until July 18 so we can leave it in the fridge and know it will be fine when we get home. That means we can arrive home really late at night without having to buy milk.

We are going down via Canada so will be able to bring food with us too for the drive there. I'm just hoping I can resist bad food and stick to my WW points.

LOL Lucylee. I do not see wax running down and making the floor slippery. MT, would it do that? Next time try The Works spray to clean. I've never used anything that worked as well as that. I used it over at the other house all the time, but I had to quit. It dissolved all the silicone calking DH had around the siding glass doors into the shower.

I've been working on my desk....shredded a whole stack of papers from old account. Can't believe I've not done it before this. Trying to get checkbook up to date...I've let that go too long. Sometimes 1 week is too long.

We just had a big storm come through. It sorta passed us by but DH was out and he called me, hail was coming down! Yikes!

No, Harmony, of course it would not run down the sides and make the floor slippery. DH is just a nut.
I am going to put The Works on my list RIGHT NOW. Anything that can dissolve silicone caulking might just do the trick.

Contemplating a nap here. Dh and I went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay this morning. It was very enjoyable! Snorkeling, where possible, has become on of my favorite ocean activities. But now I am tired. I think it is a little bit of exercise, but I'm not sure how much for WW recording purposes. It seems like light activity to me. Dh has left for the afternoon sessions, mostly the ones his students are giving. I am going to pick him up at 5:45 and we have dinner reservations at 6:15. We're both keen to eat fish tonight. I wonder if we were inspired by the snorkeling? LOL!

Dee, I saw your post about Fort DeRussy! It sounds like you spent some time here. I bet you would have been a good tour guide/advisor. . . . .

Kathryn, it sounds like you're going on a very long vacation! What sorts of activities will you do there? Sounds lovely!

Of course, we hiked Diamond Head yesterday in the heat of the day - we got to the top a little before noon. We had brought lots of water, sandwiches, apples and dried mango strips, so we had a picnic on the top. It was hot - and crowded. Afterward, we just had to hike some more, so we checked out Lyon Arboretum, which was filled with outlandishly beautiful plants! I told dh it felt like we had stepped onto the "set" of Avatar - iykwim. I was taking so many photos of interesting trees and plants that dh felt I was slowing down our walk too much. So, he encouraged me to just enjoy the scenery and stop taking photos. There is one sort of tree here that sends down root tendrils from its branches. They dangle in the air until they reach the ground, where they embed and become taut and grow larger over time. There was one gigantic tree of this sort in the park; Hundreds of these tendrils that have descended around the tree trunk have made the girth of this tree huge, greater even than that of the biggest redwoods - I think. I think it is a sort of eucalyptus tree. . . There also were wild cockatoos flying about, which I recognized from their screeching sounds before I saw them. A bit of Australian deja vu. The arboretum was another walk uphill for about .75 miles and then back down.

Alright, I have 2.5 hours to do some shopping. We've been tickled to find that the brand of dried mango strips that we discovered in Singapore, 7D, is sold here. We haven't yet found another brand that is as good. I plan to bring back many packages. I also need something for each kid and for S and R.

Seriously - you do have to be careful NOT to get any on the floor.

We are waiting for dark here to watch the fireworks. The park is FULL of cars and the softball games are going.

Tomorrow will be a full day from 7 am rolls and coffee to banquet at night. Then we move very early Sunday morning.

I never did iron or do anything else today. After the shower cleaning, and my 3-mile walk, I have done NOTHING.
Haven't even talked to dmom today, b/c I think dbro is here, and I'm just not even ready to start weekend planning.
That's terrible, isn't it? I haven't seen dbro since Christmas. I just know dh is dreading Sunday dinner, and I'm thinking if she asks us to go to church with them, none of us are going to want to -- dh b/c they don't get out until after 12:00... ddil b/c she doesn't even want to go to our church, ds b/c he's missed our church probably 4 out of the last 5 Sundays... so I'm just not ready to find out what the expectations/plans are for the weekend.
In a perfect world, dmom would have us all -- cousins, etc. to their house tomorrow night, and that could be it for the holiday... but even if we did that on Saturday, she'd still expect my 4 for dinner Sunday. * sigh *
I do love my family... I just get tired of managing everyone's desires @ holiday time. DH vs dparents, etc.

And you mentioned, OKay, in my question thread... all family dynamics are different, but I can certainly see where our family IS kinda overwhelming... and I always think that just means my cousins... but I'm sure for someone "new" to the bunch, we ALL fall into that category, myself & dh included. The women in my family ALL talk ALL the time... we talk over each other, we interrupt each other, we change stories midstream, we advise each other whether advice is asked for or not... yes. We can be a bit much.
Plus the fact that we have all been brought up to think EVERY life event IS a "command performance" as I've mentioned before. Ddil probably wishes we would ALL go to Atlanta while she gives birth.
Then you have the men, ddad & his brother, each of whom knows exactly what everyone else needs to do to better themselves and their circumstances... * sheesh * is right again.
But it's a good bunch, you know. Every single one of them would drop what they were doing at a moment's notice to help each other or anyone else. An added guest is always welcome at any "family" gathering. They are all very family-oriented and love each other, and enjoy each other's company. (Usually! Sometimes ddad & his brother do still get on each other's nerves, LOL, but they still always pitch in to help one another with whatever the latest project is, and I've mentioned before, duncle has accompanied ddad to doctor's visits out of town, and stuff like that.)
Anyway... just rambling, as I tend to do at bedtime... but saying all that to say, yes -- although dh cannot see himself as a part of all this -- and HIS family is NOT like this -- but yes... I can see where for ddil, the world of family is too much with her... at times at least.

I'm not stewing or panicking about this... just biding my time... waiting to see...
