That's me,
Lyn... I have always dreamed of being a writer... well, at least since
The Waltons first premiered... no, maybe before... maybe when I first read
Harriet the Spy. I know I never will do that, but something in me thinks it would be ridiculous to throw out or burn up all these memories I've recorded, especially of ds's life.
OTOH... I really, REALLY must go through them and edit -- which will probably mean re-typing the "good parts."
And DECIDING what ARE the "good parts." I mean, would ds prefer that I destroy all mention of old girlfriends, in the event that these volumes are ever read by ddil?
I was just reading through a notebook of e-mails saved and bound in order, that I shared w/dbro & dfriend during all 4 years of ds's college experience. Lots of funny things, but lots of old girlfriend talk, too.
I also need to edit out a lot of venting when I was mad @ dh, I'm sure.
If I were ever to write a novel, though, I'm sure it would end up being waaay too autobiographical, and then I'd be too self-conscious to let anyone read it, also.
Plus, it occurs me to that most REALLY good novels have some great mystery to be solved or BIG EVENT to work around.
I mean, someone gets killed, or finds their biological parents, or takes on the Civil Rights era.
I have NOTHING to say in any of those kinds of situations. My novel would have to be some kind of love story, I guess... and then it would be embarrassing.
It would NOT be Fifty Shades of anything, though... I can promise y'all THAT!
ALSO... how am I going to get time to edit & destroy all the originals w/out dh becoming curious???
I think he would probably notice the big bonfire, you know.
I don't have a shredder, but I wouldn't want to add all that to our weekly garbage anyway.
* sheesh *
I don't really think dh OR ds have much curiosity. DDil, I don't know. She certainly can't stand a secret when she's the one that knows it, LOL... but OTOH, she is extremely bored by our constant conversations about people she doesn't know.
My current journals have always been right on my bathroom counter, (just plain 5x8 spiral notebooks) and if dh has ever looked in them, he has never said anything to me.
I'm just really edgy tonight... thinking about next week... changes brewing in my world... plus this quandary I've locked in on.
