Amazing day hiking and scrambling over rocks! Our photos are exceptional (6 cameras, including a couple with panorama modes.)

We spent 2:45 doing that and then ended up going out for dinner at a local restaurant because dinner would be too late if I had to go into town for ingredients and then come back and cook.

We stuffed ourselves on fish so brought home pie for later. I'm making tea right now and then will have a game of cards with ds.

Now it will be $22.50 a month for an energy charge plus 10 cents per KWH, year round
 I don't understand our electric bill charges. I've called and asked for an explanation a couple of times but ended up being more confused when i got off the phone. I just looked at our electric bill for this month tried to understand it again without success. However, taking the Amount Owed and dividing it by the # of KWH used shows we are paying less than .08 cents per KWH. That includes the fuel rate adjustments, taxes, etc.

Gathered cucumbers and squash from the garden. I'll take them with me tonight to do my RAK for today. :)

The heat is one and it is brutal...113 with a cool down later this week to 108 :D people are really complaining because the heat came so early this year.

I went out to buy some groceries... Meat is in sale because of the 4th. I purposely used all my meat in my freezer so I could restock it this week. The store is just a quick run up to the corner. By the time I got home I was sick to my stomach due to the sun and heat. I hastily jammed all the meat in the fridge and am trying to cool down, but at least I'm not living in Colorado .

Have been able to CUOP here through first page.

OKay, my Morning Daily Card of the exact same things timed for an hour every morning is a blessing. Also Afternoon Daily Card and Evening Daily Card of exact same things, each timed for one-half-hour, keep me on target. Sometimes my lack is not of physical energy but of mental energy, but for me the answer to both is already knowing those chores will take the same amount of time every day and need to be done every day.

Where are the empty carefree days of summer?

HRH was at home this afternoon. I met dd's friend at the Aquatic Center and while her little sister did her special water exercises, I took the two girls out to find a gift for the friend's grandmother. Then met her sister, mother and sister's practical nurse for lunch. Very unusual for me to eat out with other women. We had good conversation. Then to the sensible grocery with dd for all the foods the fancy grocery doesn't carry, then home in time for my ddad's supper.

Maybe I can catch up here in the house and be back to Catch Up On Posts later.

Hello, villagers ~

Congratulations, Grandma Lucylee!!

Happy birthday, Helia.

Dee ~ That is such a clever idea for your crockpot, putting it in a bag with handles when you have to store it on the floor.

Norma ~ I would love to meet your ggd, she sounds like such a little sweetheart.

I'm all discombobulated this week.

I finally realized that it's because at the end of last week I sewed a costume that took a lot longer than I expected it to take. Then I delivered it Sunday morning and but had to stay at the theatre over an hour to finish it. (Needed to ask the costumer a question about the sleeves before they could be sewn in. Had to use an unfamiliar machine to finish the sewing.) While I was in The Big City, I stopped for groceries and that took a couple of hours. I brought home a take-out lunch rather than our normal Sunday lunch at the truck stop. DH did some more mowing in the afternoon and I watched DVDs from the library. So all of that messed up my Sunday routine.

Then DH took Monday off work but he didn't tell me he was doing it until Sunday night at bedtime. I love him being home, but I really wish he'd give me decent warning. So anyway that messed up all my Monday plans. It was a good day with him home, just not what I had planned.

Yesterday I was just hanging on, trying to get back to normal routine. I've been trying to read PWYC every day and have been replying to everyone in my head.

Today is day 1 of a major heat wave. I've been using it as an Apron Day but trying not to get too warm. I had planned to run a few errands today, and decided to do them this evening when it will hopefully be a little cooler.

Whoops, almost lost this whole post! Luckily I had written it in Notepad and hadn't closed that program yet.

I just heard the weather guy on tv say we hit 99 this afternoon with heat index of 107. Hot heat!! It's a few degrees cooler now and I have to go to the post office and a couple other places. Very grateful that the a/c in my car works.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes everyone! :) it was a normal day here in helia-land. One high point was that right at the end of my jog, ds called me from work to wish me a happy birthday. We'll figure out a time to celebrate later - after the grad party Saturday, after dh's trip to NL next week, after my trip to NJ July 7-12, after the church's Sr. Celebration evening, which I'm helping organize - July 13, after the youth group's annual mission trip to inner city Detroit July 15 - 19, after our camping/backpacking adventure with dfriends S and R around July 21 - July 29/30? Um, I hadn't planned to write all that, but as I did so, I've discovered something - basically, we won't be together at home as a family for any significant period of time until August. It's even worse for dd14; her birthday was in late May and we still haven't had our family celebration for her. Her bday celebration will come before mine We have had one heck of a busy spring, and it is continuing into the summer.

OK, what a wonderful community!

Any new news on the dgson, lucylee? Still excited for you!!

I just checked - we're supposed to get above 100 tomorrow. That is extraordinarily hot for us. One website says 101, another says 104. I need to do some yardwork - I'll plan to do that early in the a.m.

Not much toward the party done today either. I did get in a walk w/ dfriend, had lunch with dh, took dd16 to and from VBS, took dd16 to the high school to pick up her AP chem book (hw to do over the summer), completed the a.m. routine, took care of some emails - organizing some things for next week - small group and moms group leadership team, went for a jog with dh, helped make supper.

I'm going to go to Michaels, although I feel SO sleepy. . . Jogging will often do that to me. Plus, my tummy is now full.

Back from the hospital... no real news today except I think he is even cuter today than he was yesterday! :D
DS did say he had done very well on hearing & vision tests. I don't know how well they can test that at this point, though.
We did not spend much time with him, b/c we didn't go over there until afternoon, and they had him in the nursery b/c of those tests, and then it was time * past time * for ddil to feed him, and we needed to come on home.

Y'all were mentioning how the coming-home day is sometimes pretty rough -- you DO think it is okay for dh & me to miss that, don't you? (I'm going to tell ds to be SURE to take plenty of pictures.) I think they will be fine w/ddil's parents there with them, and probably the two of us would make everything more crowded than they'd like.

Good day... I even got up & walked 3 miles before we went to the hospital. :D
Tomorrow is another day.

YES, lucylee!! I think it's absolutely fine for you to miss your dgs's homecoming! As has been pointed out, it's going to be a busy, stressful time for your DS, DDIL, and baby DGS. You're not ignoring them...simply giving them some space to get settled in a bit before you descend on them for another DGS fix  If it was me, I'd just call DS and explain that you're giving them that space to settle a bit, but if they want you there for any reason, you're only a phone call away.

The days will definitely fly by! Before you know it, he'll be holding up his head, smiling, cooing, and doing all sorts of incredibly wonderful baby things! Grandparents are essential in any baby's life....who else is going to spoil them the way they deserve? Enjoy him...and if you should feel comfortable sharing a picture...I know we'd all love to see him!

I sort of got off track today...it's been somewhat productive, but not according to my lists. Critters are cared for, some laundry got done, dishes are clean, and the living room carpet has had its first steam cleaning. I'll be doing the heavy traffic areas again before bed (it dries fairly quickly), and then quite possibly going over the entire thing again tomorrow. Maybe by then it will be a bit cleaner.

Reading about the outrageous temps across the USA, I'm feeling particularly blessed by our low-mid 70s (with breeze) weather today! :P
