Hi, almost didn't post to bring the board down. I'm just in a funk because my day was taken away, it seemed to me. Hours of surprise hostess duty added on to a pharmacy trip I didn't plan on, and before that a difficult morning including taking my ddad out. Everything had to be pushed back. I never caught back up - which I guess you can tell by the hour at which I am posting. I really wanted to exercise as scheduled but I was so late with it and tired that I don't think I had good form doing it. I missed an online sale and had wanted so much to make that purchase. By the time I got to it, it was after midnight and not allowed any more. Sigh. Dd32 emailed early this a.m. and I didn't reply until after her bedtime tonight I know. Many, many good intentions are slipping away this summer, it seems, especially those for dd13 and those about long-term planning. I can't wash my hair yet because my forehead and scalp hurt still. So that makes me feel shiftless. The nurse at ddad's dr said, "Whoa, you took a fall!" because now my forehead is all blue and yellow below the cut. And I even got bit by a tick today! :(

Tomorrow is another day.
Which, looking at the clock, will start late!
Sweet dreams.

Oh, (((Harriet))) ... some days are just like that, aren't they?
Something I have observed at school, however, is that I never have two really horrible days in a row. Some days I leave school thinking, "I just can't go back tomorrow... I just can't face (that kid/that administrator/that situation) again." But of course, I do go back, and invariably, the next day is better.
Scarlett was right, tomorrow IS another day. I hope your Wednesday is WONDERFUL beyond belief.

And keep in mind all the great things you did today:
* served as a great hostess under trying conditions
* served as a companion, chauffeur, and medical advocate for your ddad
* served as a great example for dd13
* ran various errands
* exercised in spite of everything else
* responded to dd32's email (even if you were late -- if it was that much of an emergency, I'm sure she would have phoned you, wouldn't she?)
AND you even
* fed a tick ;)

Gee... I'm really getting better at putting a positive spin on things. Y'all are really making progress with me!
But I'm 100% sincere about EVERYTHING except the tick, Harriet. Hang in there. Your ability to manage your home AND your ddad is sooo inspiring to me; you'll never know how much encouragement I receive just from "watching" how you are keeping things together. If some days it seems like it's all unraveling... well... you ARE human. (I think!)

I will be praying that you get a good night's sleep and awake totally refreshed tomorrow morning. (((BIG HUGS)))

owwweee Harriet. I'm so sorry about your head . Sometimes the best of expectations just go astray. Seems like the longest of days for you.
You may not want to hear this - but somepeople find specialised residental care the hardest thing to let their loved one go into, but the only thing they can do in the end.
Somewhere else someone posted a link re all the different types of dementia, and their progression. Parkinsons dementia seemed alot like altzimers. sry bout the spelling. Many people there found a lot of help from alz support groups, though some close for the summer. Well - the one one woman had just started at. I know there is a lot of experience on this board too, but sometime talking in real time to someone uneffected by your situation at home can help.
It has to be hard mixing teen parenting with this, I know you get help from HRH and others too when they can, but sometimes something just have to give a little to get you through in good shape too.
big hugs. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
There will always be another sale.
Look after yourself please. And consider a regular - time out - for you.
Wondering also if there are any day care respite programs available - or even residental respite where you live - just to get a short break. more hugs.

just read Lucylees great reply.
so sorry about the tick.
Hope that is better too. real soon.
